To ask if you've ever experienced a house get out of control

That gives a weird image of a tantrumming house but the truth isn't so funny.

House is disgusting. Repulsive, awful, dirty. I just can't seem to manage it. I used to be able to. Now I'm struggling so much.

I'm talking washing up on the dirty sofa and piles of dirty clothes and crisps trodden in carpet upstairs and bathroom full of clothes and cat wee (thanks cat) and empty bottles and half full bottles of drinks and tin openers in lounge and cobwebs and muck and dirt.

Am i trying to have my child taken off me or something? :)

I semi confided in a friend yesterday who said she had found it hard until she went on ADs.

Is this the answer? When I've taken them in the past I just felt flat but maybe I didn't try the right ones or for long enough.

It's getting me down, it's getting everybody down but it's as if I cant. Sometimes I make some vague attempt to clear some rubble but it barely makes a dent.

lougle · 14/07/2015 08:53

Well done!

BertieBotts · 14/07/2015 08:57

Really awesome :) Well done. The nesting kicked in at just the right time Grin

My house has been at the brink a couple of times.
I'm not depressed or ill just very busy.
I think some people would turn their noses up at my gaff even when I class it as 'clean' and tidy.
Then again,I turn my nose up at people's houses that are so sterile you could operate in them.

Its not all or nothing,a comfortable life with some balance is whats needed.
Squalor isn't good, but all work and no play makes Jill a very dull girl.

I've found this thread very inspiring. My house is generally clean and tidy but every inch of storage space is stuffed to the brim and completely disorganised. I hate it and every now and then I sort out a cupboard but it soon reverts to chaos. I think I'll buy that Japanese lady's book and see if I can get any tips to break the cycle - in the meantime I was inspired to sort out one kitchen cupboard yesterday and I will try and get a few more done at the weekend!

Well done OP!

You're amazing! Good work.

greenhill · 14/07/2015 10:08

I'm glad you felt better last night atthelake and hope that with just a few small changes you can keep on top of things. Don't forget to rest in between small bursts of activity though Smile

Congratulations to everyone else that's found the thread inspirational too. I'm off to put a casserole on and do some ironing, once the cat moves off my lap Smile

Esmereldada · 14/07/2015 10:23

Congrats Atthelake. Xxxxxx

MrsJorahMormont · 15/07/2015 12:24

How are you getting on Atthelake?

Your thread has been so helpful and thank you to everyone who answered. It inspired me to blitz through our kitchen which was mortifying Blush The out of date stuff I had to throw away from the fridge and cupboards was appalling. But throw it away I did :o

Keep at it At Thanks

Just read through this thread and was also inspired - did a full on tidy of DCs' room (me directing the DCs anyway, since I'm not all too well today!) and DH hoovered/moved furniture when he got home.

I hope things are going well for you Lake - I guess now you could have your squishy little newborn, in which case it must be very nice to be bringing them home to a much tidier house :)

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 20/07/2015 18:05

This thread really inspired me too. Someone posted about the things a HV would notice including washing up left undone and food out on the surfaces and clutter underfoot. That really made me stop and think. I'm trying to keep on top of the kitchen now - did a big blitz last week and then yesterday DH and I blitzed the living room. Just our room to do now. Thank you!
