Its patronising

'Girly' and 'mummy' I agree with. But can't see anything wrong with 'girls' night out.'

Are you objecting to the word 'girls' instead of 'women'?

Aeroflotgirl · 11/07/2015 11:51

My goodness people can be called what they like, if you don't agree with it, does not make it wrong.

Dowser · 11/07/2015 12:01

Quote

I know somebody who went for a "girlie day out" with her daughters to celebrate her 60th birthday.

They also had a "cheeky glass of fizz" with the afternoon tea.

I going out with the girls on wed night. I'm 63. Am I too old?

TaylorSwiftMakesMyShitItch · 11/07/2015 12:05

What a remarkably trivial thing to get annoyed about. Why would you give the teeniest tiniest shit what words people use to describe their social gatherings? Girls, boys, ladies, mens, mums, pensioners, ninjas - who gives a fuck? You don't like the term girls night out? Awesome. Don't use it then.

Shakey1500 · 11/07/2015 12:08

Nope, not something I can get worked up over either.

In fact, I use GIRLIE Grin

muminhants1 · 11/07/2015 12:08

I don't mind the expression "girls' night out". If someone thinks I'm young enough to be a girl, that's fine with me!

However, I hate the expression "bestie" which I always read as "beastie".

PurpleHairAndPearls · 11/07/2015 12:09

Are the DHs babysitting while they go on their girls' night out?

Aeroflotgirl · 11/07/2015 12:10

Bestie makes my teeth itch, but whatever tickles your pickle and all that.

ShowOfHands · 11/07/2015 12:12

Wotcha OP.

It irritates me to.

Often seen with the misappropriation of the inanimate too.

"Love my girls"
"Love my cheeky lambrini on girls night out. Woot woot." Whatever the fuck woot woot is when it's at home.

Can I also ask you to consider banning ways of describing food other than a simple conjugation of the verb 'to eat'. We've already had 'all the noms' but you can bung into your room 101 all of the following:

a morsel
a crumb
a sliver
a nibble
picky bits
slurp on an ice lolly
munch

Oh I could go on for hours. It's all so faux twee.

"We had an enormous helping of spag bol for lunch so we're just having jacket pots and picky bits for tea".

DESIST

LOVE this on a site in a large part devoted to ranting about trivia, that people pop on to a thread and spend time saying that its trivial Grin

Mummy juice is officially the worst. Along with anything being cheeky, particularly 'vino'

FrankietheSquealer · 11/07/2015 12:16

what on EARTH is mummy juice please its not breastmilk

OP posts:
Aeroflotgirl · 11/07/2015 12:23

Yes it is breastmilk Grin

slithytove · 11/07/2015 12:25

I like it when my husband takes me out...

What's wrong with it? He also likes it when I take him out.

JaneFonda · 11/07/2015 12:43

This thread is great. :o So #cheeky

FlamingoPleated · 11/07/2015 13:09

No it's wine! 'Tee her DD pointed at a bottle of wine the other day and called it mummy juice. Whoops she's catching onto mummy's cheeky afternoon vinos with the girls. Love it!'

forago · 11/07/2015 13:28

and beer is daddy juice. Actually the menz have it just as bad really - "love my ickle man", "best hubby" etc etc

The worse though is the NOM NOM - makes me heave.

FlamingoPleated · 11/07/2015 13:34

Concur. Nom nom is a clear contender for the win.

PuntasticUsername · 11/07/2015 13:36

Did everyone see the thing about the Brazilian religious dude who managed to convince a bunch of female acolytes that when appropriately stimulated, his penis would bring forth holy milk?

I mean, as an atheist feminist I'm all Shock but the rest of me is totally Grin Grin Grin

Harryparry · 11/07/2015 13:37

Yes I find it irritating. If there are only girls going why do they need to say it like it's obvious

abearcalledpaddington · 11/07/2015 13:38

I agree op, yanbu.

Also anything with yummy mummy in it, makes me shudder.

DadOnIce · 11/07/2015 13:42

When we were students everyone used to go out together. Suddenly it's gender-segregated nights out with 'the lads' or 'the girls'. I hate it.

MitzyLeFrouf · 11/07/2015 13:45

Nope. Can't say I'm one bit bothered by people referring to their 'girls night out'.

AnyoneForTennis · 11/07/2015 13:53

Me either

Odd op
