A decent budget for low paid workers.

Aibu to think that overall the budget was good news for the low paid with a big increase in minimum wages announced?

Seems like a decent idea to me.

But I stand to be corrected.....

amzing grace telling someone to fuck off is the debating style of the idiot. You call it robust, really?
Also, I never said I was more intelligent than anyone. I said swearing makes people look intelligent, not that they are.

marchlukeanant
What makes you think I am heartless? I genuinely donate 1 day a week of my time to those less fortunate. I have been rewarded by the Queen for my contributions to charity. You know so little yet presume so much.

Dawn
I have tried to call truce. I am very working class, I have just worked hard to get a good education. There weren't many people in the country poorer than my family when I was growing up.
Remember, you came on and told me to fuck off for expressing an opinion that the majority of people hold in this country if you go by the last election results.

Youthecat
No I wasn't. Read my post again.

Dawndonnaagain · 12/07/2015 21:16

Charmed

  1. I'd already worked out your class.
  2. The majority of the country didn't vote for the party currently in power.
  3. As far as I'm aware, your first post was: No, but you could support him yourself. If he is getting £30 less free money from the state, why don't you replace it with your own money?

He is your kid after all
This to the parent of a child with a disability. I'm fairly sure most would forgive me for a) swearing and b) the assumption that you were in all likelihood a teenage troll, due to the sensational lack of empathy and rather unempathetic posting It appears that you're not. Who'd have guessed.
Hmm

Dawndonnaagain · 12/07/2015 21:17

Repetition. Tired. Apologies.

YouTheCat · 12/07/2015 21:21

I'm sick of people like you. Great, things have worked out for you, you worked hard yadda yadda yadda. Life isn't like that for everyone else.

Lots of people work hard. Lots of people have so many hardships that seem utterly unimaginable to you. You are not better than anyone else.

And yes, what you wrote sounded very much like you saying people who use swear words are childish and lack intellect.

You don't seem to have anything useful to add to this debate so why not toddle off to Netmums where they don't swear?

MarchLikeAnAnt · 12/07/2015 21:24

No, but you could support him yourself. If he is getting £30 less free money from the state, why don't you replace it with your own money?
^^kinda makes you seem heartless don't ya think?

If swearing offends you so much hop over to swear-free netmums..

MarchLikeAnAnt · 12/07/2015 21:25

Damn my slow typing

YouTheCat · 12/07/2015 21:26

Great minds and all that. Grin

EllieFAntspoo · 12/07/2015 21:26

You could try and earn more money yourself to pay for those things?
I have earned somewhere north of £65K a year at times in my career. I too enjoyed my holidays, my car, clothes, etc. but for the most part these are just things. As DCs get older, I'd like to take them travelling, visit different cultures. I have a plan for that, and we save to ensure we have a little security. But time with DCs is more important to me right that restarting my career. It's all a matter of priorities I think. Ours do not require televisions, but may require holidays in the future.

Talkin peace
Small business cannot compete with the offshoring plcs - especially when their wages bill has been put up by 11%

So maybe this is the first overt step towards government directly supporting big business interests and the stamping out of competition. Or maybe it is a hedge that in economic times ahead, the country will need to be able to offer succour to mega-corporations in order to remain solvent and retain power on a world stage.

So the transition away from high street retailers to supermarkets continues, with the publics acquiescence of course. Should the public wish to change this, they can. The only need to agree with one another.

We live in interesting times.

EllieFAntspoo · 12/07/2015 22:06

Wow! A whole shit storm erupted while I was cooking. Go figure.
Dawn 1)... That's the first put down that's made me laugh out loud on MN. Vicious.
charmed Trial by fire. The mistake was PMing instead of politely elaborating on your point. Then it just collapsed into a slagging match, and the old guard have seen it all before.

cleanmyhouse · 12/07/2015 22:33

Wait. Did someone threaten to call the police because they were told to fuck off?

Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeesus.

RedDaisyRed · 12/07/2015 22:37

The left will always lose but we can all debate things with consideration for others. The only party which really ultimately has the good of the less well off at heart is the Tories and thankfully we have them for the next 5 years. Those less well off need not worry as this Tory Government is actually your best chance. Do not fear.

As someone on my side of the politicial divide said above the big difference between the two sides is simply this - responsibility.

YouTheCat · 12/07/2015 22:43

So Daisy, what about my severely disabled ds? How has taking £30 a week from his ESA benefited him exactly?

They aren't hitting those who don't work through choice (a tiny minority). They are hitting those who work damn hard for the little they have and punishing them for the mistakes of bankers who are still happily sitting on their huge bonuses and those people raking in profits whilst not paying a living wage. (The Tory idea of a living wage is laughable) How is that a fair way to carry on?

A civilised country protects its most vulnerable members.

Ellie, charmed has made you sound almost reasonable. Grin

Fucking cunting bollocking cock womble. That's for charmed.

BunnyFint · 12/07/2015 23:40

Fuck me. Threatening someone with the police for swearing, I've seen it all now! I'm alternating between laughter and thinking, If it walks like a cunt, talks like a cunt and posts like a cunt.....

Flowers for Dawn and YoutheCat.

meddie · 12/07/2015 23:46

Omg Bunny I object, a cunt is warm and deep and welcoming.....

Wait. Someone threatened police because someone on Mumsnet told them to fuck off?

Bahahahaha, now I've seen it all.

EllieFAntspoo · 13/07/2015 06:59

On a national level, the problem with left wing political parties, is that they inevitably are always run by those with the same left wing attitudes that result in career choices that favour socialist value over earned income. I don't say that is a wrong thing to do, but it does tend to result in a lower net standard of living for the individuals as a whole.

The problem comes when you take a bunch of politicians who have an automatic bias towards making decisions that lead to depravation and dependency of state handouts, and funnel them into government. State dependency rises, the welfare state balloons, those living off the fat of the welfare state receive benefits disproportionate to their value, the efficiency and efficacy of state monopolies diminishes, and over time, the state slips further and further towards bankrupcy.

The socialist middle ground are meant to be the party that believe they can create balance, but they haven't a clue how to lead a party (or even a conga line), let alone a country. So inevitably we need see a swing back to the. Tories to cut the fat of the past 13 years of gorging on the state apparatus. For some that might not be too palatable, but for the survival and the strength of a nation, it is essential. In 8 years, maybe even 4 if your lucky, the left may see a return to inflating the welfare state again, but until then, the annual cull of the apparatus itself will continue, and the reductions in the drawdown of those who depend upon in will increase.

Sadly, dependency on the state means handing over your life to the whim of governments to run for you. I can't for the life of me understand why anyone would choose to do that unless they had absolutely no other option, but some do, and. I do not believe in the myth that, 'it's a tiny minority'.

Phew, I'm sure that's massively reassuring to anyone on a low income who has just lost a wodge of cash. They're just not seeing the bigger picture. Silly really as the tories have always made the working class their priority to fuck over royally

TheSultanofPing · 13/07/2015 07:09

And they do this RedDaisy by taking from the lowest paid workers. I'm sure they're thrilled at being around £1500 per year worse off if it's all for the greater good Hmm

BreakingDad77 · 13/07/2015 08:01

Funny how this right wing 'responsibility' trope doesn't extend to taxes.

When corporations start paying their way, when we not getting ripped of by billions by privatised utilities and transport, sort the banking sector out, then I'm happy to talk about the welfare system .

How work will pay less than benefits in 2016
An interesting article.
