Crocs

I have to wear them most of the time as had part of my foot amputated and they are the most comfortable and almost the only thing I can wear, and I think this is the case for many people who wear them. Tbh I do not like them and I do get the point that people find them ugly. But my problem is the continuous comments on FB or magazines about how awful they are, and fit only for children's entertainers or OAP's. It really spoils my day when I then have to pick my child up from school feeling self conscious and hoping I am not being judged. I just wish people would be more sensitive as I have seen these posts from 'friends' who know I have little choice. FWIW I dream about being able to wear heels again and dress up, but its just not possible. AIBU to wish that people would stop the Croc hating?

I have regular crocs and the flipflop version (naturally) and love them. There's nothing like them for treating cramp in the feet.

Theas18 · 06/07/2015 22:03

I love my crocs ! The only thing possibly more comfy are my 1st generation fit flops but then thry " improved them" grr !

geekymommy · 06/07/2015 22:13

Those of you who don't wear Crocs, come to the dark side. We have comfy shoes. Also biscuits.

FraggleHair · 06/07/2015 22:14

I've told the OP I'll stop being mean to Crocs but it will be a cold day in hell before I slip my feet into a pair.

Esmeismyhero · 06/07/2015 22:33

I love my turquoise croc sandals! I wear them everywhere and I don't give a flying fuck what people think :) they are fab

ScorpioMermaid · 07/07/2015 00:50

yanbu

my kids wear crocs all the time. so convenient to pop on for the garden etc too. They love them and find them so comfy. dh is thinking of buying a pair too. I live and die in my birkis - they're my shoe of choice and I doubt I could be swayed otherwise. We have a friend that has a condition that affects his feet and other muscles and wears his crocs to death for the same reason as you op. even the wooly ones in winter. wear what you like OP ð???

TheCatsFlaps · 07/07/2015 01:12

OP, people can think what they like, they're going to anyway.

I have an eating disorder and get snide comments like "skinny cunt", "do you have AIDS/cancer" and "you like like you could use a bloody good feed" as though I'm a cow in a cattlemarket. I used to be enormous as well (try a 54" waist) with a BMI of 30 - mow it's 18. I was called a "fat cunt", "you're fat and ugly", "do you not have a thigh gap!?"

What do I do? I simply say "jealous, bitches?" Before striding off (hell, I am 6'2 as well as skinny). Fuck them - if you are happy, more power to you. I don't know you, but all the best babe.

geekymommy · 07/07/2015 03:03

I'm 37 weeks pregnant. I discovered earlier today that any shoes that I can't put on without using my hands are a big NOPE. I'm going to be having a C section, so this may continue for a while postpartum. Looks like I'll be wearing my Crocs even more than usual this summer.

Sparrowlegs248 · 07/07/2015 06:06

I don't really like crocs, especially the clog ones, but who cares? I may yet be converted as at almost 37wks pregnant only one pair of my 50odd pairs of shoes still fit my swollen feet!

Cuppaand2biscuits · 07/07/2015 06:13

Crocs website has a sale on now! I bought some flip flops from there last week, had a good £12 off.

CardinalRed · 07/07/2015 08:10

Another one with foot/leg issues which means I can't wear anything with a heel over an inch.
Crocs are fab. They are foot shaped shoes. If anyone scoffing at them regularly wears high heels, then more fool them.
Fit Flops are also fab and I am a convert to Sketchers Go Walks.

If it aint comfy, I don't wear it.

NecklessMumster · 07/07/2015 09:03

I love my crocs too but only wear them around the house /beach cos of the haters. I think it's a capitalist conspiracy - they invented shoes that are hard wearing and comfortable so then had to start a backlash or no one would need to buy more shoes. I don't think they're ugly at all, I think they're funky

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/07/2015 18:26

have always hated crocs (dp has a pair he wears round house/garden)

but

last year on holidays my beach sgoes broke and all i could buy was crocs

im now a convert but only on the beach/pool

still would never wear in public in uk Grin

Twowrongsdontmakearight · 07/07/2015 18:37

Wear crocs loads with jeans, walking the dog, camping etc. Not sure I'd wear them with a floaty dress for 'best' like they seemed to be worn when they first came out, though.

Mind you, my pet hate is Uggs worn with anything other than jeans in the winter. ...

As someone who spent her twenties living in high heels (now a thirty-something) I applaud anyone smart enough to wear comfortable footwear. Don't give a stuff about what anyone else might think, your feet will be in better condition for the rest of your life than the slowly-being-irreparably-damaged feet of judgy, fashionable people! My friend works at Nike HQ in Oregon, her work "uniform" is literally whatever Nike running shoes she likes and Nike brand clothing. She basically wears comfortable workout gear everyday, I'm so bloody jealous! My job still requires suits and uncomfortable shoes :(

suzannecanthecan · 11/07/2015 23:06

My job still requires suits and uncomfortable shoes

can you not invent exaggerate some sort of musculo-skeletal health problem which requires you to wear flats Rainbunny?
I would be outraged if I was forced to wear heels Angry

ASettlerOfCatan · 11/07/2015 23:29

I personally think crocs are ugly but I also think those gladiator sandals are worse and it doesn't mean I give 2 shits if anyone else wears them. Everyone has such varied taste in fashion why does it matter? The world would be very dull if we all wore the same stuff as each other.
