Crocs

I have to wear them most of the time as had part of my foot amputated and they are the most comfortable and almost the only thing I can wear, and I think this is the case for many people who wear them. Tbh I do not like them and I do get the point that people find them ugly. But my problem is the continuous comments on FB or magazines about how awful they are, and fit only for children's entertainers or OAP's. It really spoils my day when I then have to pick my child up from school feeling self conscious and hoping I am not being judged. I just wish people would be more sensitive as I have seen these posts from 'friends' who know I have little choice. FWIW I dream about being able to wear heels again and dress up, but its just not possible. AIBU to wish that people would stop the Croc hating?

I have the ones that look like ballet flats. Best £15 I ever spent in shoes.

Rock the croc.

WhatsTheT · 06/07/2015 16:27

I'd love some crogs, the clog ones are too wide for my feet but I LOVE their ballet pump style shoes.

DoreenLethal · 06/07/2015 17:28

I got some a couple of months ago because I have plantar fasciitis and without them I can hardly walk - with them I can go all day. I have two pairs - one for indoors and one for out. And I dunk the indoors ones in the bath after I'm done each night.

SummerHouse · 06/07/2015 17:36

Croc love. You will get nothing but croc love here. If you can trust your crocs when all men doubt them, and make allowance for their doubting too

wonkylegs · 06/07/2015 17:45

I can honestly say I have only ever once noticed the footwear of another parent at pick up and that was when she was wearing stripper heels, coupled with a micro mini skirt and was tottering rather than walking - it was quite a sight and not one I expected to see at 3.15 on a midweek afternoon in a school playground.
I have a lifetime of comfy shoes thanks to rheumatoid arthritis, I used to feel self conscious but then I realised life's to short. I have some generic gardening clogs that I wear round the garden/ house but I hate them because they are pink with strawberries on and I hate pink but they cost me a whole £3 and I'm a sucker for a comfy bargain.

Lagoonablue · 06/07/2015 17:47

I love crocs. Wear them in the garden or on the beach. Occasionally to the shops. Don't worry about it. I bet you look fab!

QueefOfTheSporned · 06/07/2015 17:48

I don't like crocs. But there are lots of other types of footwear I don't like either. If I see someone wearing them I might briefly think to myself 'I don't like those' but I don't judge the wearer.

TheBreeze · 06/07/2015 17:53

I wear them when we go away in the caravan and have just had to wear them for the last two weeks as I hurt my foot and it was swollen, I was so pleased I had them or else I would have been stuck with no footwear I could wear.

I also have a pair for gardening and a fur lined pair for Winter

MamaLazarou · 06/07/2015 19:05

They do look ever so comfy. I don't think I could pull them off, though.

MyCarHasBrokenDownAgain · 06/07/2015 19:14

Another Croc lover here! I have various pairs, and this year discovered that we have a Cros shop in our city center - was in heaven in the Jan sales, can't believe the styles available now! I just bung em in the washing machine when they get dirty. Only downside is that they do produce static - I bloody love zapping my work colleague after shuffling over to her ha ha Grin

thegreylady · 06/07/2015 19:24

It's the old cliche 'those who matter don't mind, those who mind don't matter'.

lilacblossomtime · 06/07/2015 19:25

I love them too, I have very wide feet and they are the most comfy and light shoes. I quite like the way they look personally.

ouryve · 06/07/2015 19:27

I have collapsed arches due to hypermobility and live in crocs ar home. I don't wear them out and about unless I'm going somewhere lie the beach, though, as I can't walk very fast in them, but they're great for keeping me stable. I'm just annoyed that they've changed the shape of them - all my pairs are ancient.

The static can be fun. I sometimes stand up out of my chair and chase DS1 around and zap him :o

HalestormRock · 06/07/2015 19:44

Are they as, or more, comfortable than Fit Flops ?

soapboxqueen · 06/07/2015 19:49

I have traditional crocs as slippers at home because of plantar whatsit in my feet.

I have proper sandals made by crocs for out and about. They don't look like crocs. They a slim with a cross over strap.

ouryve · 06/07/2015 19:52

I can't wear fitflops because my knees bend backwards.

elizadolittlechoc · 06/07/2015 19:52

I have problems with feet and ankles- wear crocs and the 'ugly' version of Birkenstocks. It's so lovely to be able to walk and stand comfortably. People who don't suffer from foot problems have no idea how it affects day to day life. A husband of a relative said that he would divorce her if she wore shoes like mine Shock. Caitlin Moran's attitude to shoes in her book was a real inspiration to me.

TiredButFine · 06/07/2015 20:18

When they first came out and everyone had them on, a friend of mine who lives abroad thought that they were a new thing to replace the "all inclusive" hotel wristband, because "all the british families have these matching plastic shoes on and you can't lose your shoes" -misses point of thread--

DrCoconut · 06/07/2015 20:47

I bought a pair today. Floral ones. I'm nearly 30 weeks pregnant and the comfort wins over their fashion status.

Cocolepew · 06/07/2015 20:55

I like the look of the ballet flats. I have terrrible pains in my feet and ankles, might give them a go.

MsRinky · 06/07/2015 21:01

I have a ballet flat pair for camping, and loads of people have admired them only to recoil in horror when told they are Crocs. More fool them.

Kerberos · 06/07/2015 21:05

Sometimes I wear socks and crocs. I'm such a catch :)

TheoriginalLEM · 06/07/2015 21:17

I loved my crocs and would love another pair but i ended up with plantar fasciitis from wearing them so they are really really bad for my feet. No support whatsoever.

TheoriginalLEM · 06/07/2015 21:18

oh and i had a pair of slip on shoes similar to the ballet pumps - my God, that reinvented the term filthy feet that did Blush

IonaNE · 06/07/2015 21:26

I absolutely love my Crocs, wear them all the time and I think they look cool. Walked around Andalucia for 3 weeks in yellow Crocs and did not have any other footwear with me at all. Then I had a pink pair... and I always have a black pair for work, of course. :)
