People who are doing it WRONG

My Dad loves to talk about how he enjoys a good barbecue in this weather, once he even invited a lot of family round for one.

His version of a BBQ is a George Formby grill (natch), and in nice weather he plugs it in outside to cook a burger or sausage on. He is quite evangelical about how clever it is to barbecue that way.

It gives me the gritted teeth rage.

Anyone else who is doing it ALL WRONG? Offload here Brew

AFAIK, it's OK to swivel at waist level, then take it up.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 10/07/2015 09:46

Nugget- I know! If you can swivel your bra must be much too bigConfused

Offred · 10/07/2015 09:47

Never ok to swivel IMO. My mum does this, always thought it was wrong before I even really understood bras... Just looks wrong...

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 10/07/2015 09:49

My bra is correct according to all the bra intervention threads and Bravissimo fitting, it fits perfectly and I can swivel it just under my boobs, it doesn't need to be loose to swivel, just not overly tight.

Littleham · 10/07/2015 10:55

It should be called Turkish Fright.

Where on earth did the 'delight' bit come from? Who puts talcum powder on sweets? Horrible smelly sickly stuff. Green face. Envy

wheelycote · 10/07/2015 16:20

Turkish Delight very RIGHT love it. It's different to all the other sweets out there

SchwarzwalderKirschtorte · 10/07/2015 16:27

Littleham Turkish Delight has icing sugar and cornflour, not talcum powder. Hmm

Lweji · 10/07/2015 16:34

Whatever it has it's sickly sugary.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 10/07/2015 16:38

Proper TD is lovely, had it in a Turkish restaurant and it's nothing like the perfumed icing sugar stuff.

GloGirl · 10/07/2015 16:42

Turkish Dewrong surely.

Peanuts are wrong. They're not even nuts. They smell bad, they taste bad and they kill people. Can we all agree to just drop them all down a black hole?
Someone offered to make me a cup of tea today. I asked for it black, can't stand milky tea. They brought me my drink.
'You said black, so I just put a spot of milk in.'
No no no no no no no I said BLACK!
But I am British so I sucked it up, thanked them and drank the tea. Hated every drop but I drank it.

Starburst123 · 10/07/2015 20:29

DM peels mushrooms. Apparently it's because they might have horse poo on them.
DCat think she's a dog.
DP puts the milk in, then the tea bag, then the hot water.
I, of course am perfect Grin

CigarsofthePharoahs · 10/07/2015 20:44

Dh peels mushrooms and carrots. Always seems like a lot of unnecessary faff to me. I do give my mushrooms a quick rinse though.

Loafliner · 10/07/2015 20:46

I must come to the defence of Turkish Delight - the mass of flavours available is mind blowing - like them all except peppermint....orange, lemon pomegranate, strawberry, vanilla, cinnamon, pistachio etc and made properly it is a very lovely thing - covered in choclate and delivered by Fry's is very wrong.

MadeMan · 10/07/2015 21:04
DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 10/07/2015 21:08

Washing mushrooms is WRONG unless you pick them from a field yourself. Iirc they aren't grown in earth at all in the UK.

MaizieDaiziesxx · 10/07/2015 21:28

My X used to insist on adding orange juice to any tomato-based dish.. he'd say it would bring out the sweetness but it just made the bolognese taste like tropicana.

Then again my DH slaves away on a lovely meal and then I insist on having a moat of hp sauce on it ..

MaizieDaiziesxx · 10/07/2015 21:29

cigars you don't peel your carrots??!! Shock

Swoon!

MitzyLeFrouf · 10/07/2015 21:40

Mushrooms don't need to be peeled, they grow in polytunnels and not even a Shetland pony can fit in there to do a poo. They shouldn't be washed either as mushrooms are spongey and absorb the liquid.

A quick wipe with some kitchen paper is all that's needed.

This thread is full of deviants!

Littleham · 10/07/2015 22:24

Turkish Delight is obviously like marmite - some love it and those who are correct loathe it. Wink

Shame we can't click to vote to see who is in the majority.

wheelycote · 10/07/2015 23:07

Mushroom peeler here

FelixFelix · 10/07/2015 23:08

One of the managers in my old office used to microwave his salad every day Confused

OhMittens · 10/07/2015 23:29

Re the bra thing: I do up at front then swivel because my bras require a tiny bit of stretch in order to do up so they sit snugly on the ribcage. I haven't the muscle power to stretch the bra to do up double hooks from behind my back. I'm pulling a muscle just thinking about that.

Mushroom peeler BTW? have never heard of that!! How do you have the patience? It's as much as I can do to cut the tough stalks off before slicing and even then I mutter that it's a waste of time. Actually peeling each and every... I can't....
