People who are doing it WRONG

My Dad loves to talk about how he enjoys a good barbecue in this weather, once he even invited a lot of family round for one.

His version of a BBQ is a George Formby grill (natch), and in nice weather he plugs it in outside to cook a burger or sausage on. He is quite evangelical about how clever it is to barbecue that way.

It gives me the gritted teeth rage.

Anyone else who is doing it ALL WRONG? Offload here Brew

Middle Lane Hoggers - WRONG

People who pootle on the inside lane and wont move over when you are trying to join the motorway from a busy short slip road - WRONG

On our local motorway I have seen two people on a completely clear motorway (only me and them in sight) drive along in the outside lane. TWO OF THEM! Totally different cars! Just WHO are they overtaking?!?!??! Angry They are wronger than Mr. Wrong, Mayor of Wrongtown.

GloGirl · 16/07/2015 10:13

I also prefer milk in earl grey tea Wink. Although our "normal" brew of choice is a 50:50 mix of (loose leaf) Darjeeling and earl grey with milk Grin

Littleham · 16/07/2015 10:36

The perfect way to serve Earl Grey tea is via the closest plant pot. Grin

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 16/07/2015 16:14

The milk incident has totally put me off Earl Grey, I can't even drink it black now without recalling the awfulness of the cup with milk in. Still, it wouldn't do if we all liked the same things.

On a similar note - white wine spritzers. My MIL offered me one at her house once and she had put lemonade in instead of soda water. She saw me react and I said it was fine, just that I was used to soda water but it was awful. We had a chat about it, she genuinely thought spritzers were meant to be made with lemonade. I don't take any chances in pubs now, I always ask for a spritzer with soda just in case it is in fact me that is wrong, but I really don't think so.

"On our local motorway I have seen two people on a completely clear motorway (only me and them in sight) drive along in the outside lane. TWO OF THEM!"

I think I read somewhere that somebody got busted for this recently, but they were driving in the middle lane on an empty motorway.

I'm sure a lot of people think of the three motorway lanes as:

Left = Old People Lane.
Middle = Overtaking the old people lane.
Outside right = BMW lane.

Offred · 16/07/2015 21:11

My boyfriend seems to think all the lanes on an empty motorway are racing driver lanes... Guess what he thinks he is?! WRONG!

Trills · 16/07/2015 21:16

WHy is it even called the outside lane?

It's not on the OUTSIDE.

It's on the INSIDE.

MrsHathaway · 17/07/2015 00:43

WhoKnows I think lemonade so for similar reasons I would order a "white wine and lemonade".

Trills · 17/07/2015 08:52

Soda is the "right" mixer. You are safe.

Eminybob · 17/07/2015 09:05

I always thought soda was correct too. Some bar staff don't seem to know this though, so I also stipulate when ordering.

My DP opens things upside down. Like crisp packets etc. I don't think he does it intentionally, he's just not paying attention. It drives me potty. The other day he opened a box of weetabix from the bottom. So there's no tab to keep it closed now. Why would you do that? Why???

::shudder::

LTB, surely. DH does this too and claims it doesn't matter. THE SHAME.

People who say.... 'its a tough ask'

Its what? that makes no sense and sounds stupid Sue Barker

BeautyQueenFromMars · 17/07/2015 14:06

Sausages are best eaten sliced lengthwise and filled with raspberry jam and wrapped up in the doughiest white bread around.

I'm sorry, I only discovered this thread today and haven't managed to get past this bit so my question may have already been asked and answered.

JAM ON SAUSAGES??!!!! What hellish concoction is this? It is almost on a par with salad cream & mince...

BeautyQueenFromMars · 17/07/2015 14:18

All of you who are against the swivelling method of bra donning do realise that the bra is put on upside down, swivelled round and then boobs dropped/placed into cups as the bra is lifted up into place, right? You don't put the bra on the right way up at boob level, thereby squishing them into unidentifiable scary shapes.

TrueBlueYorkshire · 17/07/2015 14:25

I have a mate who uses a charcoal BBQ but then piles on the coals so that it is far too hot so all the food ends up cooking super fast and burning and because its cooked so fast it doesn't even taste smoky! I have tried to show him how to do it properly to no avail...

As bar staff I was told to add soda for spritzers unless specified by the customer that they wanted lemonade. Lemonade makes drinks sweeter, soda doesn't affect the taste so much, its a personal thing, I'd always ask before pouring. Same for adding ice to spritzers, some people like it, some people don't!

Offred · 18/07/2015 01:48

But they do get all weirdly shaped if you don't lean them into the cups then fasten the back. It's the putting your arms in the straps after fastening the back that makes the weirdness... Arms in, lean forward, boobs in cups as you pull up straps, lean back, fasten back... Otherwise boobs end up all weird and uncomfortable.

Swivelling is just wrong.

RonaldMcDonald · 18/07/2015 12:49

I believe no one really prefers dark proper chocolate over a Twirl

This 'a slowly savoured square of darkest chocolate a day is all I'll ever need'....is tosh sold by people who are trying to hard and who have no soul

RonaldMcDonald · 18/07/2015 12:52

Too

CigarsofthePharoahs · 18/07/2015 13:14

Milk in earl grey tea?

Why? That just makes it taste of soap! If you have to put something in it, and I don't see why as it is a delicious infusion on its own, then just a dash of lemon.
My aunt puts soy milk in everything. She isn't dairy intolerant, or vegan, she actually prefers it!
Wrong, oh so very wrong.
UHT milk is wrong.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 18/07/2015 22:36

My boobs most certainly don't end up weird and uncomfortable, unless I try fastening at the back. Clip at front, swivel, lift first strap up and insert arm, then scoop boob into place, repeat on the other side, perfect fit every time. If I try fastening at the back the boobs fall out and the straps fall down as I reach round there.

MadeMan · 19/07/2015 00:54

"I believe no one really prefers dark proper chocolate over a Twirl"

I can't stand all that fancy 80% cocoa chocolate stuff; it's too bitter tasting, although probably good for cooking with.

Twirls are great. They are stronger flavour than the regular Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate which seems to be in almost all their products these days. If I fancy Cadbury chocolate on it's own, I choose the Twirl! Smile
