People who are doing it WRONG

My Dad loves to talk about how he enjoys a good barbecue in this weather, once he even invited a lot of family round for one.

His version of a BBQ is a George Formby grill (natch), and in nice weather he plugs it in outside to cook a burger or sausage on. He is quite evangelical about how clever it is to barbecue that way.

It gives me the gritted teeth rage.

Anyone else who is doing it ALL WRONG? Offload here Brew

It will also work if you light one candle on the stove and use it to light the others. :)

muminhants1 · 07/07/2015 12:43

Butter and jam together on anything is always wrong.

HURRAH. I need to show my dh this :)

GloGirl · 07/07/2015 13:36

Toast + jam + butter = comfort heaven. I have it about once every 3 years.

Oooooh a cuppy egg! Reminds me of my Papa (Scottish GF), he always had one for his tea. Lightly boiled egg, scooped out into a tea cup, knob of butter added and all mashed together and eaten with Scottish bread (a kind of sliced loaf with a darker crust and diffent shape). I have it now on a Sunday for brekkie if DP is working. Oh and it must be eaten with an Apostle spoon (good ex-catholic girl here). I'm transported back instantly to Greenock, Scotland in 1972.

People ignore margins? WHO on earth would do that?Shock

wheelycote · 07/07/2015 19:22

Jam and butter go perfect together!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 07/07/2015 22:23

Butter and jam is RIGHT.

Amen.

DancingHat · 08/07/2015 05:10

My wanker ex (was a wanker for many reasons including this) used to have his cereal with tea. As in replace the milk with a mug of tea poured into the cereal bowl.

He didn't like milk. He was a dairy farmer.

Told you he was a wanker!

Lweji · 08/07/2015 06:36

Are you saying people are wankers for not liking milk?

And for eating cereal with anything but milk?

Offred · 08/07/2015 06:41

Milk is wrong...

But so is tea...

HTH

Aussiemum78 · 08/07/2015 08:33

I don't care, I still love my (gas) Weber BBQ.

Bbqs are gas unless you are camping, then they are campfire.

Those stony things are for weirdos.

And the thing I think is wrong : peanut butter and jelly. Firstly it's jam, and no they don't go together. Ugh.

PunkHedgehog · 08/07/2015 17:15

I was about to outraged by the person who said that because they didn't agree with double carbing, they didn't like gnocchi. Ridiculous! Then somebody else said they eat gnocchi on jacket potatoes. Really? Is that a thing?! If so, then I can see how they fit into the double carb concept.

PunkHedgehog · 08/07/2015 17:20

Scone, however, is quite obviously skon. Unless you are American, in which case you can probably blame the Irish for importing it wrongly.

FraggleHair · 08/07/2015 17:23

I say scone to rhyme with stone. What's more I live in Scotland and say it! I just happily ignore all the 'ach, you're pronouncing it wrong' faces. I also tell them that Tunnock's teacakes are vile

Littleham · 08/07/2015 17:29

Turkish Delight is very wrong. I couldn't wait to try it when I was little and saved up all my pocket money. What a disappointment. Vile stuff.

FraggleHair · 08/07/2015 17:32

Yes it is vile. Tastes like soap.

Nothing delightful about it.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 08/07/2015 21:43

My dh went to get a Chinese takeaway today.
They put the spare ribs on top of the satay chicken in the same container!
Wrong, wrong, very wrong. Let's face it, satay chicken is vile. It stinks, it tastes like death vomited and the sauce looks like baby poo.
I had to get the baby wipes out and clean the hideous stuff off my precious spare ribs.
Says dh - should he eat all the meat and I have all the prawn toast instead?
Heck no! Dh, just stop ordering bloody satay chicken. It's wrong.

Agree with Turkish delight being wrong. Tastes like old ladies talcum powder.

Cinnamoncookie · 09/07/2015 17:20

Textfan I've been trying to light my dried spaghetti from the electric ring, but so far, nada Grin. (I do know that having an electric hob means I live in a world of Wrong, but there's no mains gas supply to my flat

NinjaLeprechaun · 09/07/2015 17:45

Aussiemum Jelly and jam aren't the same thing. Jam is made with whole fruit but jelly is made with just the juice.
To be a 'proper' peanut butter and jelly sandwich it should be grape - but grape jelly is Wrong. I'd eat it if it meant I could eat peanut butter though. I developed a peanut allergy in my mid-30s, and that's Very Wrong.

fflonkl · 09/07/2015 20:41

Cigars satay chicken in this country is wrong. Where I come from they are soooooo amazingly right because they're done properly!

Also we didn't do fresh milk where I come from (in the tropics) when I was growing up so we had condensed milk instead. My grandad used to have instant coffee with condensed milk AND sugar! My DB meanwhile used to spread condensed milk on his toast and then Milo on top.

I do my bra up The Right Way. It really is NOT difficult to do up the hooks at the back!

I like Turkish Delight (the Fry's chocolate one) and I always think the individual bars are too small for my liking. Sad

MadAngryGnome · 10/07/2015 01:03

Mashed up egg in a cup is a family favourite. Revelation to find out other people eat it too!

DH tells me I am WRONG for putting butter and peanut butter together on toast as peanut butter is basically butter. It isn't!! You need the butter to soften the toast and for the peanutty goodness to go all melty into.

Where are the bra interventionists?! If you can swivel your bra it doesn't fit!
