For a while I've been 'losing' random things, leggings, tops, cardigans, eyeliner etc etc etc.

Thought I was being scatty and disorganised.

Gutted my room this weekend in prep for decorating and still couldn't find lost bits..... Just bumped into my cleaner who was wearing two of the items I've lost (one very distinctive) at first I thought no it can't be but as she scuttled off I thought wtf ? She looked mortified and I was speechless.

She still has a key and is due to come mon or tues. I'm so angry, I don't know why I didn't say something I think it was disbelief at first

Change the locks, call her and tell her you no longer require her services, she will not be surprised.

grapejuicerocks · 21/06/2015 17:25

As above, but ask for your things back too. Tell her she's lucky you're not calling the police - unless you want to call them of course.

karbonfootprint · 21/06/2015 17:25

report her to the police, who knows what else she has taken!

Larrytheleprechaun · 21/06/2015 17:26

Dont leave the house until you have the locks changed.

londonrach · 21/06/2015 17:26

I wouldnt want her in house op monday and want key back. You sure it was yours and she didnt buy them herself. Id be furious As well. Shes in a position of trust.

FruChristerOla · 21/06/2015 17:27

I agree with TheCrow. Get the locks changed ASAP and then phone her to say her services are no longer required.

Edenviolet · 21/06/2015 17:27

I'm so so upset, she was always so nice and asked about dcs etc and was so nice when she saw them I'll in front of her. Then the times I'm out she steals from us

londonrach · 21/06/2015 17:27

Just seen other comments....change locks sounds good.

Floggingmolly · 21/06/2015 17:27

Did you employ her through an agency? Make sure they know, if you did. What a cheeky cow!! Are you actually at home when she cleans, though?
Don't leave people you don't know unattended in your home.

Edenviolet · 21/06/2015 17:28

Yes, one item is distinctive the other same as mine that's missing. Other bits too but ob I haven't seen her in those

MissDemelzaCarne · 21/06/2015 17:29

That's awful, you'll have to change the locks, on top of the cost of the stuff she stole from you.

SoldierBear · 21/06/2015 17:30

That is awful, Hedgehog.
As others have said, change the locks and then tell her you no longer need her services.

slanleat · 21/06/2015 17:32

Reminded me of that friends episode where monika is convinced the cleaner is stealing her clothes. . . .. or in other words - before you do anything make sure you're right.

And if you are completely sure then let her go.

The5DayChicken · 21/06/2015 17:33

Is she an agency cleaner? If so you need to take it up directly with them.

If not, wait for her to turn up for your next clean, confront her and sack her.

Either way, change the locks.

londonrach · 21/06/2015 17:34

Hedgehog change locks and refuse her access tomorrow. If she complains report her to police for stealing. Id try and get the bits back but sadly that could be hard. How dare anyone do that when they are in a position of trust. Im furious on your behalf! How did you find her? (Hands hedgehog a glass of wine)

Curtesytome · 21/06/2015 17:40

Omfg!! Cheeky cow!! That's stealing, end of! Ask for your items back and tell her in no uncertain terms that you're not employing her anymore! She's broken your trust, and let's face it, you must have trusted her for her to have a spare key to your house (that sounds as though I'm having. Go, I'm not I promise!)

She obviously has zero respect for you or your possessions, if she starts off half inching your clothes what will she try her luck with next? I hope you give her the bollocking she has earned herself!!

Curtesytome · 21/06/2015 17:42

And definitely change locks!!

Wishing you all of the Wine and Cake in the world.

TheHouseCleaner · 21/06/2015 17:44

Make absolutely sure the items she's wearing are yours before you do anything. If you are 100% sure and you owe her any money wait til she comes to clean next then confront her and tell her she won't be getting her last wage because you've spent it on changing the locks. Why should you be out of pocket?

Then tell her that if your belongings aren't returned by the end of the afternoon you'll be reporting the crime to the police.

As my name suggests, I'm a domestic cleaner. I'm furious on your behalf too.

SmilingHappyBeaver · 21/06/2015 17:49

I'd give her the option of returning all of the stolen items by 8pm today, or you will be reporting her to the police. Then sack her. Thieving little shitbag!

pudcat · 21/06/2015 17:55

How long has she been cleaning for you? When did you notice stuff missing? What about the children's things? Are they missing anything?

Cassie258 · 21/06/2015 17:59

It wouldn't surprise me if they turn up after her next visit...

expatinscotland · 21/06/2015 17:59

Oh, that's awful. You know you need to change the locks and sack her.

followTheyellowbrickRoad · 21/06/2015 18:00

Does she clean for other people too? I would check with them if they have noticed.
My sister had a baby sitter that sold clothes from her. She wasn't even the same size!

Edenviolet · 21/06/2015 18:08

She's been cleaning for us for about three months. Getting locks changed now.

I feel so violated
