I'm so angry I may explode

For a while I've been 'losing' random things, leggings, tops, cardigans, eyeliner etc etc etc.

Thought I was being scatty and disorganised.

Gutted my room this weekend in prep for decorating and still couldn't find lost bits..... Just bumped into my cleaner who was wearing two of the items I've lost (one very distinctive) at first I thought no it can't be but as she scuttled off I thought wtf ? She looked mortified and I was speechless.

She still has a key and is due to come mon or tues. I'm so angry, I don't know why I didn't say something I think it was disbelief at first

How did you find her? You need to ensure she cannot repeat this. If the items are personal ask for them back.

Edenviolet · 21/06/2015 18:14

She was recommended by my last cleaner who had to leave, not through an agency. More fool me

Edenviolet · 21/06/2015 18:18

Def mine, I'd customised one of the items and its unmistakeable

That's awful hodge I would be fuming! What a betrayl of trust. Def don't let her back in ever again.

WhenMarnieWasThere · 21/06/2015 18:21

If you are feeling charitable, you could tell her that she has one chance to return all your stuff before you consider reporting her to the police.

I'd be phoning the non emergency number to report her if I was certain she'd stolen my things, though.

No, tbh I'm getting locks changed but I'm not giving her a chance! She can keep it I'm calling the police anyway.

She's stolen from us, from me and from my dcs.

"Def mine, I'd customised one of the items and its unmistakeable"

That's it then. Retain any pay still owed, change the locks and tell her that she has a couple of hours to return the items or you're going to the police.

TBH I'd suggest you tell her that and then go to the police even if the items are returned. You owe her no favours.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 21/06/2015 18:26

Slanleat- I was about to post about Monica and the cleaner tooGrin

bamboostalks · 21/06/2015 18:26

Report her to the police, she's a petty thief with no excuses.

Edenviolet · 21/06/2015 18:27

She cleans for a lot of old ladies, for their sake I'm phoning too, she's taken clothes and bits from us, things we can replace. What if she takes something of great sentimental value from someone else? She needs to learn a lesson.

I can't believe she could come in here, clean up and see the sharps bins dotted around and all the dcs things they need to help with their disabilities, see the dcs themselves, and still steal. Heartless bitch

WhenMarnieWasThere · 21/06/2015 18:27

She does need to learn a lesson.

Stopandlook · 21/06/2015 18:28

That is awful. Not sure what I would do, definitely would be ready to explode but I'd not let her get away with it. Hope she gets what she deserves Cake

Stinkerbellabumsmella · 21/06/2015 18:28

Oh id be absolutely devastated if she'd stolen my DC'S stuff.

Don't bite the hand that feeds you, you do right in going to the police!! Sounds as though she's quite prolific and has used the fact that you trusted her to take advantage of you all!!

She obviously has absolutely no morals or principles, no matter what sort of a mess you're in, you should never, ever steal!

Stopandlook · 21/06/2015 18:29

Glad you're reporting, yes she will have stolen from others Angry

lunar1 · 21/06/2015 18:29

You are right to call the police. Imagine what she might take from someone really vulnerable.

sparkysparkysparky · 21/06/2015 18:30

Also, Check any cheque books you have for missing pages. I simply couldn't trust her any more. If she's with an agency the agency need to know.

iwanttogotothechaletschool · 21/06/2015 18:32

Definitely phone the police, if she is stealing from you then she is stealing from others too. Also it is possible she had taken things you haven't missed yet.

needanewlook · 21/06/2015 18:32

As she was mortified to bump into you do you think she may have now disposed of the evidence?

butterfly133 · 21/06/2015 18:35

I think you should bill her for the locks being changed. She may be relying on the police not bothering with it though which could be a problem.

londonrach · 21/06/2015 18:35

Just read she cleans for other ladies..report to police and if you know them tell them. Never forgotten one of my patients who 'lent' her husbands war medals to someone. Please protect those who cant protect themshelves. Hence why im so cross.

Iflyaway · 21/06/2015 18:35

Definitely report to the police.

If she's been cleaning for old ladies we do get forgetful! she probably thinks she's on to a good thing.

DON,T let her get away with it!! Let everyone she cleans for know about it too.

Edenviolet · 21/06/2015 18:40

I suppose there's a chance she will get rid of the evidence but I'm going to report her anyway.

The stupid thing is she was earning approx £50 a week cleaning from us and I was about to put her hours up. What she has taken wasn't worth a great deal as I buy things in the sale and customise. Long term she's missed out on a lot of money

OP posts:
needanewlook · 21/06/2015 18:49

She may well have 'form' for this so reporting is definitely the right thing to do.
