to not give a toss that I'm vegan and just killed 40-50 slugs and snails

I haven't had a single strawberry this year that hadn't been part nibbled.

Its wet outside. I tool my torch and a bucket with salty water and plopped all the ones I could find in there.

Sadly this didn't seam to kill them, so I sprinkled salt on the ones that tried to get out. And they dropped down.

Am I a bad person? Mostly they were slugs, but did get a few snails.

I planted onion bulbs last year. They ate them all as spring onions. I've really tried. I put wool pellets down last month

Op, you don't have a slug problem, you have a duck deficiency Grin

LaurieFairyCake · 12/06/2015 22:45

I'm also not vegan and can't kill snails

They have little snailey houses on their backs Sad

I collect them up and take them to the park

They like the park

BigChocFrenzy · 12/06/2015 22:45

If you're bored with veganism, I'd suggest a bacon sarnie instead.

AwfulBeryl · 12/06/2015 22:46

I have always wanted to re home rescued hedgehogs, I used to see signs up In the vets to re home them.

They would obviously eat the slugs, but at least it wouldn't be you killing them.

FuckyNell · 12/06/2015 22:46

Aww a snail park!!

ilovesooty · 12/06/2015 22:47

Laurie Grin at the snails in the park.

hiddenhome · 12/06/2015 22:48

I like snails, but don't like slugs. I kill slugs with slug pellets. Salt is cruel, but they just go to sleep with the pellets.

killervegan2015 · 12/06/2015 22:48

To be fair I only did a few snails in the bucket. I killed more just walking in the dark.

I'd love a duk, I hear they love snails but are quite dirty, bit too much responsibility. Could I hire one for a moth?

It must be so painful to die by flesh-melting. Do you think that they scream?

Bifflepants · 12/06/2015 22:48

I'm a vegetarian and a keen gardener, and I happily kill the little fuckers.

ilovesooty · 12/06/2015 22:50

I think they'd cost more than a moth.

killervegan2015 · 12/06/2015 22:50

I'm not sure that's true about the pellets. Might be a slower more painful death. Do they have a nervous system?

What is the point of you being vegan? snail murder

LovelyFriend · 12/06/2015 22:51

Yeah all the millions of vegans in India are simply aspiring to live an indulgent western lifestyle Shock

killervegan2015 · 12/06/2015 22:51

Thanks Bifflepants, glad I'm not alone!

I'm only joking about them going to sleep. I don't know how they kill them. They're very good though. All my violas have come back Smile

You can set traps - bowls of flat beer - they go in voluntarily and then drown. At least then they die happy and drunk.

killervegan2015 · 12/06/2015 22:53

Health reasons and animal cruelty for animals that feel pain and suffering. Least these slugs were wild and had a great life. Up until today. Same can't be said for battery farm chickens that live indoors for 40 days.

Only kill the little ones.
The big ones eat the little ones.

Get ducks, they eat the slugs. then you can scoff the ducks
