Just had a quick byte to eat after work with a friend that really likes it. Didn't have any alcohol and it came to 38 just for my stuff, wasn't even full after and was there less than an hour.

I did try those supposed deadly rice cakes, thought they were horrible. Not sure why so many oaps dice with death to eat themConfused

I find it hit and miss. Didn't like the one in London, but the one in Devon is lovely.

It's the best tasting sushi/Japanese food I've found on the average high street (unless you're gonna go to a super-expensive proper sushi restaurant). But each to their own!

Cats - we didn't get a menu. We were asked if we wanted to order from the main menu or eat from the conveyor belt. We said, conveyor belt. We were given a picture menu of what there was in each coloured bowl but not told we could order what we saw on the menu, if it didn't come round on the belt.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 14/06/2015 09:37

That's ridiculous Mrsschadenfreude . You would either have to miss out on the fun of eating from the conveyor belt or have hardly any choice . No wonder you were unimpressed.

Salmon and tobiko tartare - absolutely delish. One of my favourite things in the world. The beef and garlic terriyaki is pretty good as well. Trust me to have my 2 faves as yellow plates.

GoodbyeToAllOfThat · 14/06/2015 10:41

Yo Sushi. We love this place, but it's way too expensive; we're in and out in about 30 minutes and it usually costs around £75 for a family of 4, whereas Pizza Express or Byron would cost around £50.

The fact that there's a student discount makes me very, very unhappy. I don't like subsidising student sushi.

Sushi in the UK isn't worth the paper it's written on, as it were...crazy expensive, and such tiny portions...

Bunbaker · 14/06/2015 15:59

Since I have never eaten sushi anywhere other than in the UK I have nothing to compare it to. I don't think the portions are tiny either as I prefer to try several different types of sushi.

I agree that it is expensive though.

I like small portions as you get to try more, easily shared too which is what we do.

I like to go when it is quiet - not long after opening - then just order miso soup - £2.60, some avocado maki £1.90 and £1.20 water

£5.70 for a tasty light lunch

SomewhereIBelong · 14/06/2015 17:11

(miso soup is unlimited refills too)

Bunbaker · 14/06/2015 17:23

That would be too light a lunch for most people, including me Somewhere Grin

Cherryblossomsinspring · 15/06/2015 16:59

Beware of the unlimited miso soup. It's very very high in salt. You should only be drinking one bowl per meal if even that much. (The Japanese may have it with each meal but I think the salt is too high at that amount too).
