Just had a quick byte to eat after work with a friend that really likes it. Didn't have any alcohol and it came to 38 just for my stuff, wasn't even full after and was there less than an hour.

I did try those supposed deadly rice cakes, thought they were horrible. Not sure why so many oaps dice with death to eat themConfused

Also isn't it mochi that kills oaps rather than ricecakes?

Bair · 10/06/2015 22:03

Thank you Moma! DH has agreed our celebration meal when DC2 is born will be sushi!

motleymop · 10/06/2015 22:09

I have never been in Yo Sushi - it just looks like some sort of Tamagotchi funfair with plastic food.

ephemeralfairy · 10/06/2015 22:09

Yanbu! I think you pay for the experience of the twirling plates and water on tap etc. I don't even think the food is that great. Of the chain places, Wasabi is good value but most of them don't have seating. I quite like Itsu too.
Independent places are always best though.

Toffeelatteplease · 10/06/2015 22:13

I love the twirling plates and water on tap and food going round on a conveyer belt and "ooOo nab it quick"

clareth · 10/06/2015 22:22

I really like Yo Sushi Blush we've moved away from our local one in Brighton and I get little cravings for salt and pepper quid every now and then Blush but I agree you could eat a shit load and not feel very dull up at the end!

clareth · 10/06/2015 22:22

That would be *squid

clareth · 10/06/2015 22:23

Oh my god...full up not dull...

FreudiansSlipper · 10/06/2015 22:28

food is poor quality

I think wagamamas is good value and tasty not sure if it is authentic or not and not really bothered

bluebeanie · 10/06/2015 22:38

Wow. Dh and I often go to a chain called Wasabi with the little dishes on a belt. It's £1 a dish at lunchtimes! Between us we rarely spend more than a tenner with soft drinks. The rice ones tend to be really filling.

Never been to Yo Sushi, but friend enjoyed their sushi making class.

TheCatsMother99 · 10/06/2015 22:39

It's one of the worst sushi restaurants I've been to. So over priced for what you get but people still go there as it's seen as less scary than other sushi places for some reason.

Toffeelatteplease · 10/06/2015 22:40

I always thought Wagamamas is a bit like a posh pot noodle.....

poocatcherchampion · 10/06/2015 22:46

Hair - all yo sushi stuff is fine to eat when pregnant except for that piece of crab. All the raw fish has been frozen which kills off nasties. I'm pretty sure there is something on NHS website about sushi.

pettywitchinlondon · 11/06/2015 06:36

Yes I mean motchi rice cake. I thought that was awful, I expected it to be amazing considering the risks associated and how many people die each year.

They do do food to order as well, and the noodles/hot dishes do tend to work out as a good bargain as are much more filling. I don't think I've spent more than £20 in there without being very full, you must have managed to pick up the most expensive dishes each time! The colour of the plates does show you how much they are.

Nettymaniaa · 11/06/2015 07:01

Don't really rate the place. Have a couple of other places locally rather go there. Service is crap by that I mean the food you order. I have been a couple of times when it hasn't arrived so stopped going. For a great healthy snack Itsu is fab after a particular time prices go down.

scribblegirl · 11/06/2015 07:04

I am with you, but... I am often in cities on my own for work and finding somewhere that I don't feel a bit self-conscious eating alone (but that is enough for dinner and I can expense!) is quite a challenge! For that, sitting at the bar in Yo is perfect. And it's not hideously calorific either.

shrunkenhead · 11/06/2015 08:23

I have never been as don't understand it.....The whole conveyor belt thing! How do you know how much an item is? What if you're not fast enough in grabbing it? (Like a crazy fairground game!) and how do you pay/staff know what you've had/how much to charge? Just sounds like hard work to me!

scribblegirl · 11/06/2015 08:36

Items are on a coloured plate, the cost of the plate is written on the menu, so items are green/purple/orange etc and priced accordingly. They don't move too fast (and to be hoo eat, clocking whats coming around is quite fun!). Staff count up the empty plates at the end and give you your bill Smile

scribblegirl · 11/06/2015 08:36

Hoo eat? Should be 'honest'!

chipshop · 11/06/2015 08:46

I love Yo Sushi but only go on Blue Mondays when every dish is the same price as yes it's a rip the rest of the time. I really like the Trafford Centre one in Selfridges, great booths and lovely staff.

DP and I had 12 dishes between us last week (me four and him eight!!) and it was about 30 quid incl drinks which I don't think was too bad?

My favourite dishes are Prawn Katsu, Chicken Gyoza, Yo Rolls & Tuna Sashimi. Grin

Trills · 11/06/2015 08:53

What if you see something you like the look of and SOMEONE ELSE grabs it?

It sounds stressful.

MrsSchadenfreude · 11/06/2015 08:54

An utter rip off and hugely expensive. The last time we went, we were en route to Paris at St Pancras. There were four of us, and we managed to eat £120 worth of stuff, and only had water to drink. I blamed the DDs for picking all the expensive stuff like prawns. The nest time we went to the posh hotel, had brunch and champagne and it cost less than that!

DinosaursRoar · 11/06/2015 09:19

Trills - you can press the buzzer on your table and ask for them to make you another of whatever it was. (and there's normally a few of each thing on the belt, so just wait for another one to come round)

Oh I want sushi now, and there's no decent sushi place round here. (fuck loads of noodle places)

JackShit · 11/06/2015 12:02

But...it's RAW FISH Shock
