Just had a quick byte to eat after work with a friend that really likes it. Didn't have any alcohol and it came to 38 just for my stuff, wasn't even full after and was there less than an hour.

I did try those supposed deadly rice cakes, thought they were horrible. Not sure why so many oaps dice with death to eat themConfused

I never spent anywhere near that much there.

MeganChips · 10/06/2015 19:15

I like Yo Sushi but it is expensive.

I took DD for her 10th birthday, just me and her and spent £42 with no alcohol.

ApignamedJasper · 10/06/2015 19:17

I love yo sushi, I think it defiantly depends on what you have. I normally have edamame, some kind of sushi roll with fish, maybe one of the hot meat dishes and a soup or noodles- most I've ever spent was £30 between 2 inc drinks. If you get the £8 bowl meals you'll only spend £8, they are enormous! I couldn't finish it last time I went!

takemetomars · 10/06/2015 19:17

sounds like you ate an enormous amoutn of food if you spent that much!

FarFromAnyRoad · 10/06/2015 19:17

Quel drama fantastique! However will you follow this up?

pettywitchinlondon · 10/06/2015 19:18

Lol half are saying its well expensive the other they don't spend that much there?

If I went there after spin I could easily eat 100quid and still stop off for some nibbles on the train home

Is this menu up to date?

www.yosushi.com/food/menu

How did you spend £38!!!

Dowser · 10/06/2015 19:19

Cosmo...Cardiff Bay. brilliant or Red Hot in town centre. Food is nicely presented and you can try loads of dishes for £15.

Bair · 10/06/2015 19:19

Orlando, they have a tiny tentacle in them, it's like a mashed potato thing, but flavoured and I think it's fried. I know nothing of Japanese culture or food, it's probably not something recognised as a thing over there, but you get two and they are laced with crack cocaine. I could eat 20 of them! I love those and the beef slices thing, with loads of wasabi.

Dammit, soon as I've had this baby I'm off to Glasgow for £38 worth myself.

I know there are better more authentic places, and Yo Sushi is MacDonalds to the Ivy in comparison, but it's affordable for me and the staff are always so nice to my DS.

pettywitchinlondon · 10/06/2015 19:20

Surely if you spend 15 including a drink it isn't enough for a meal? Just a quick snack

We always go for the green ones and the water which you can refill. Doesnt cost much from memory although always hungry one hour later. Not been for abit since our york visit (we were on holiday) and dh was sick. Now i want to go.....anyone else care to join me as dh not keen now.

MrsNextDoor · 10/06/2015 19:26

Eating out isn't about "feeling full" though...not all the time.

Nibledbyducks · 10/06/2015 19:26

I love Yo Sushi and stuff myself when I get chance to go, but even I have never managed to spend £38 on myself!

I love the birthday club discount, 1/3 off the bill. The menu has gone down hill a bit lately though, no miso black cod, no yellowtail, no tobiko, only sashimi is salmon or tuna Sad

OberonTheHopeful · 10/06/2015 19:27

I like Yo Sushi, but it does seem to getting really expensive. I tend to go on Blue Monday now.

WiIdfire · 10/06/2015 19:30

They used to do 'all you can eat for £20' on a Sunday. Now THAT was worth going for when hungry!

AlpacaPicnic · 10/06/2015 19:56

Ah, super sumo Sunday's! I'm sad they have stopped doing that... I went one Sunday and kept a total of what I 'should' have paid and it was well over £40.

Maybe I'm the reason they stopped...

sheepysheep · 10/06/2015 20:05

I used to like Yo Sushi .... until I discovered Wasabi. Very informal eating but the sushi / sashimi is really fresh and it's very reasonable. Downside is nearly all their branches are in London and I live in the back of beyond in the north :'-(

chanie44 · 10/06/2015 20:10

I can see how the costs add up, but it's easy to keep track, so it shouldn't be a surprise.

I normally go to wasabi, as it's good value, but there are a couple of independent sushi places near work (also with conveyor belts) which are better value that yo sushi. I can't remember the last time I went to them and now I want to go!!!

Bair · 10/06/2015 20:13

I am very jealous of all of you with choice with regard to sushi.

I can have Yo Sushi in Glasgow with a fair bit of travel to get there, or sweet fa!

auntyentropy · 10/06/2015 20:17

My DC love Yo Sushi but you do have to watch the cost very carefully otherwise it racks up like nobody's business. It's a special treat, only on Blue Monday.

CloserToFiftyThanTwenty · 10/06/2015 20:17

We like Yo for the kids so DS can eat loads and DD can pick at some rice and endemame. It's a bit of a gimmick, but I like being able to have a bit of this and that and not have to decide up front how hungry I am.

Degustibusnonestdisputandem · 10/06/2015 20:17

Ooh interesting, we're about to get a Wasabi in Cambridge Grin

Theycallmemellowjello · 10/06/2015 21:38

Completely agree, I had the misfortune of eating there in an airport once - overpriced and very poor quality fish. If you're in London you can get amazing low cost sushi at the Golders Green branch of atari-ya - it's the fishmonger of many high end sushi places but also does eat in and take-away. Can't be beaten imo.

Momagain1 · 10/06/2015 21:51

Bair: sushi in Glasgow

Tequilashotfor1 · 10/06/2015 21:54
