to be MAD about bloody Lego Friends airport, where the pilot is a MAN.

Got Lego Catalogue today. Looking through at all the exciting and colourful stuff for boys. Got to the Lego Friends page. Looking at the nice plane, check the figures.........

FLIGHT ATTENDANT SANDRA and PILOT DAVID. WTAF! Why is the pilot a bloke?!

Did no one at Lego has the wit to say 'errr women can be pilots'?

AIBU to be seriously unimpressed by this? Makes me bloody cross.

Oh don't get me started on boys toys and girls toys...why can't toys just be toys..?

One thing I notice here in Scandinavia is there's none of this blue vs pink crap. Toys are just divided up by function, so there's a shelf for books, one for puzzles, one for building sets, one for soft toys, etc. much better.

I was in toys r us in the UK last month and lo! One pink aisle, one blue one. All the fun toys were in the blue one. The pink one has high bloody heels for babies in! Dh s eyes were rolling out of his head.

Lego was and still is, my absolute favourite thing... But I'm glad they've now got a lady scientist etc. I'm not keen on the friends stuff because it's just girly and not as involved in the building side of it. My three year old self liked Lego technic and making cars with working steering...

Down with pink!! More spaceships with lady pilots!

Awful! I saw the display today and was initially pleased they'd made a plane. Then I saw it was a 'private jet'. Presumably to fly them all home after they've been shopping in the Lego friends designer shops. Didn't notice the pilot was a man. Bastards

I've definitely read somewhere that the % of female commercial airline pilots is less than 5%. So however frustrating it is, at least it's representative. :(

Get encouraging your daughter on this career path, I have a female friend who is a BA captain. She says it's not an especially family friendly occupation but she loves it.

Ha! We got the catalog yesterday too and that's the first thing I said to DH. Also, the private jet has a female flight attendant and a businessman with briefcase for a passenger. Why couldn't it be a businesswoman? Why does everything have to be pink and purple too? ELC do this too- a 'normal' version of a toy and then a pink version. Hmm
