to write something that could be seen as a bit bitchy in the leaving card for someone that's been aggressive, a bully, unhelpful and unpleasant

That really. The card is on my desk as I was last today, couldn't think if I should write "bye! The office will be a different place without you :)" or just leave it?

Anybody got a better one?

It won't be the same without you? A bit more subtle.

blue42 · 03/06/2015 18:38

I would just not sign it. Why lower yourself?

BitOfFun · 03/06/2015 18:38

Or you could go for the killer: "Kind Regards"?

LazyLouLou · 03/06/2015 18:38

I managed a scribble, literally a squiggly line, in one card. It started of as a brave attempt to write something bland. But my writing hand felt dangerously out of control... so I stopped, dragged it off the card and threw the pen down Smile

BabyOnBoob · 03/06/2015 18:39

I wouldn't sign it either.

yellowdaisies · 03/06/2015 18:40

I'd just sign your name and write nothing. That says really that you don't much care about the person

cielbleu · 03/06/2015 18:40

A colleague of mine wrote in a leaving card to someone she disliked "See you later. Much later."

pettywitchinlondon · 03/06/2015 18:40

Kind regards! I love it but it sounds too obvious.

OP posts:
Redglitter · 03/06/2015 18:40

Don't sign it. That'll say more Smile

SylvaniansAtEase · 03/06/2015 18:41

Write:

'All the best, Keith.'

Unless your name IS Keith, in which case, write:

'All the best, Babs and the gang.'

pettywitchinlondon · 03/06/2015 18:41

Just my name! That is genius!! Would a smiliey face next to it be good?

ChuffinAda · 03/06/2015 18:42

I usually just put my name in the card of people I don't like and not contribute to the collection

A card went round my place and only 3 people signed it. No one liked the person. Sad thing was it was one of those mahoosive cards and looked really sad.

SaucyJack · 03/06/2015 18:42

Good luck with the impending, and enjoy your maternity leave with your new bundle xxxx

BabyMurloc · 03/06/2015 18:42

I wouldn't sign I card for someone who had been a bitch to me. I would just pass it on...

championnibbler · 03/06/2015 18:44

Don't sign it at all.
don't write anything might bring you down to their level.
that person may be a pig but just be thankful they are fucking off.

sheffieldstealer · 03/06/2015 18:44

"Good luck!!" is unimpeachably positive and yet... not.

iklboo · 03/06/2015 18:45

'Insert comment of choice here' - then your name.

TattieHowkerz · 03/06/2015 18:46

I like your original message. No one could complain about that, but...

Nellagain · 03/06/2015 18:47

I have refused to sign a card for an occasion. (Not leaving) for similar reasons.

It was noticed by the whole team and the recipient. Grin. It was a very effective tactic.
If you sign it then it allows the recipient to walk away thinking that things weren't so bad.

Justmuddlingalong · 03/06/2015 18:47

Au revoir! Sounds breezy and with just the right level of passive aggressiveness.

blue42 · 03/06/2015 18:49

You can out all the thought you like into this, come up with what you think is the perfect response, and there's a good chance it will either go straight over their head, or if they get the barb and they're really that unpleasant, then maybe they'll hit back with a retort that leaves you feeling worse.

If you don't sign it, they'll be left forever wondering if it was deliberate or not. It's a nice way to fuck with their head whilst retaining plausible deniability Smile

blue42 · 03/06/2015 18:49
  • put, sry
pettywitchinlondon · 03/06/2015 18:49

I get what your all saying about not signing it not going down to their level.

However I work part time and my dept is really bad at passing around cards, so probably will mean nothing I I don't sign.

Merrylegs · 03/06/2015 18:53

Get their name slightly wrong (eg if their name is Jeffrey - Goodbye Jeremy!')

gobbin · 03/06/2015 18:55

I just wouldn't sign it. I wouldn't want to wish them anything and I couldn't for shame put a bitchy comment, that's just not my style.

Neither would I attend any leaving do (unless it was a forced gathering during work time, in which case I would place myself well away from the person).
