to be annoyed about the state my toilet was left in...

I spent quite a while cleaning the bathroom yesterday morning, which made me even more annoyed, although I always keep the toilet clean...
A friend came round for a few hours and when her DP came to pick her up he went to use the bathroom and was there quite a while. When I went up there 10 or so minutes later I was hit by the most godawful stench, although to be fair to him we haven't any air freshened and he had opened the window, but oh my god the state of the toilet bowl! Skidder central. It was absolutely rank.
Surely it's common curtesy to flush a couple more times and pour some bleach down to try and get rid of the evidence if you've had a massive skiddy shit at someone else's house (and in fact your own house!) We have one of those toilet duck brushes with disposable heads which is in the cupboard so he couldn't have known it was there but the bleach is right next to the bloody loo!

Bleach is AWFUL for the environment. Did you know that sewage waste that was once able to break down now can't because of the bleach (and other stuff containing triclosan) people chuck down their drains? And that's just the start of it - ingredients in the bleach continue their work on the environment post-sewer and does all kinds of shit to the external environment.

THIS is what's disgusting, millions of stupid germphobes people merrily splashing toxic crap around X number of times per day because dirt and bodily functions are OMG! Gasp! Utterly revolting Shock

Ugh. People suck.

Songlark · 01/06/2015 16:54

What makes some of you so cock sure he's got stomach problems. Has the OP said anywhere in her post that he has? As I've said someone who's got stomach problems would be used to the cleaning up after themselves. Let's not excuse dirty behavior.

kimmyw · 01/06/2015 16:59

I always thought bleach was added to sewerage in the treatment plant to disinfect. Whys that ok but not down the loo?

"A Risk Assessment Report (RAR) conducted by the European Union on sodium hypochlorite conducted under Regulation EEC 793/93 concluded that this substance is safe for the environment in all its current, normal uses.[27] This is due to its high reactivity and instability. Disappearance of hypochlorite is practically immediate in the natural aquatic environment, reaching in a short time concentration as low as 10?22 ?g/L or less in all emission scenarios. In addition, it was found that while volatile chlorine species may be relevant in some indoor scenarios, they have negligible impact in open environmental conditions. Further, the role of hypochlorite pollution is assumed as negligible in soils."

YANBU - that's disgusting and bad manners. There is no way I would ever do that in someone else's house.

bodenbiscuit · 01/06/2015 17:04

I have IBS at times and there is no way in the world I would ever dare to leave someone's loo in a state like that.

ApeMan · 01/06/2015 17:07

I just think it's hilarious to have your toilet without air freshener/extractor fan, and without brush...

...then seem put out that there are crap smells and skidmarks.

What we have here ladies and gentlemen is a shit-snare.

Any normal person could be tricked into using it, whereupon they can be shit-judged at the shit-trapper's leisure.

Flyinggeese21 · 01/06/2015 17:07

YANBU! As some others have said that's disrespectful and completely unnecessary. I can't think of a single excuse.

Stealthpolarbear · 01/06/2015 17:10

But what if there was vigorous toilet brushing too close to the extractor. ..
Then the shit would hit the fan

kimmyw · 01/06/2015 17:12

Stealthpolarbear · 01/06/2015 17:16

Thanks, I try

Lightas · 01/06/2015 17:16

The thing is a lot of men just don't notice if they have soiled the toilet, I can't see DH ever wadding up with loo roll or squirting bleach on skid marks, he will use a brush though, I doubt he cleans it afterwards, that why I get cheap ones and change them often.

bodenbiscuit · 01/06/2015 17:20

Don't notice? How can they not notice. More likely they just don't bother. As another poster said, there's no excuse unless you're a child.

susiedaisy · 01/06/2015 17:23

Yanbu op.

ApeMan · 01/06/2015 17:25

I'd use a brush, or 7,000 flushes in an emergency.

If there was no brush I would probably just leave it tbh, and I'd probably think people who don't have a toilet brush are dirty buggers if I'm honest, which seems to actually be the opposite of how some people here would see it.

ApeMan · 01/06/2015 17:26

^"leave it" means not go by the way, not just leave "it" like a dirty protest.

SoldierBear · 01/06/2015 17:28

Just - since when does opening a window do anything to remove shit from a toilet bowl? The guy did not try his best, he did sweet FA to clean up his shit.

sanfairyanne · 01/06/2015 17:28

a lot of men 'dont notice' as they never clean the loo. they are too important for that Hmm

SoldierBear · 01/06/2015 17:34

For those using the "maybe he didn't notice " excuse, that's ignoring the fact he opened the window to try to air the room, so he knew he'd done a corker. And if he flushed and left without washing his hands, he then spread poo germs all over OPs house.
Dirty bugger

MrsRossPoldark · 01/06/2015 17:34

Mine sure does notice! If anyone's been before I get round to the regular cleaning of the loos, he will actually call me to show me the dirty bowl instead of just giving it a brush! WTF!

getbusyliving · 01/06/2015 17:41

Dirty bugger indeed?? can't believe all the excuses being made for his disgusting behaviour.

VanillaTwirl · 01/06/2015 17:43

I have:

A lovely couple of toilet brushes, they get changed regularly.

"Poo Pourri" to banish the poo smell at source before it can spread.

A lovely reed diffuser so there is always a lovely subtle smell in the loo.

A lovely, subtle room spray with the same scent as the reed diffuser, for use post poo.

(There is bleach in the handy cupboard should a user require it).

I have never had a guest leave their post poo pan in an inconsiderate manner such as the OP, because I provide the tools necessary for the job in hand.

getbusyliving · 01/06/2015 17:50

Vanilla it's a shame we can't sent the shitter round yours to really get an insight into his behaviour! To use or not to use...

Stealthpolarbear · 01/06/2015 17:51

Why would you think he didn't wash his hands?

Pipbin · 01/06/2015 18:06

Don't notice? How can they not notice?

Because they do what they need to do, flush and walk away. They don't stay to look.
