my 8 year old is not well. but i really need to go out tomorrow. as i need to registar babys birth. its meant to be done 42 days after birth but hes 6 weeks so im already late doing it and i cant council because it would take to long for the next appointment. plus i need to go to the council and could be sitting there for hours.... i dont have anyone to leave him with.

or do i give him calpol and get him to walk as he 8 after all

sorry but i dont feel he needs a doctor. for what...oh its a virus give him some calpol...wow thanks doc never thought of that :/

sometimes things need to be done/cant be counciled because it has a knock on effect on other things

Just do it, it won't take long. Goodness me you'd probably wait longer to see a doctor.

MozzchopsThirty · 31/05/2015 19:24

Well as long as cancelling the appointment doesn't have a knock on effect on your life who gives a toss about anyone else eh???? Hmm

Bambambini · 31/05/2015 19:28

If you feel it's the best just go for it. Hopefully he will be feeling a bit better tomorrow. Don't remember seeing lots of people or babies around when we registered.

coconutpie · 31/05/2015 19:33

Oh for goodness sake OP, YABVVVVU here. What about the other newborn babies at the registar's office? Or do you not give a crap about those vulnerable babies being exposed to your son's virus? Just rearrange the bloody appointment.

Girlwhowearsglasses · 31/05/2015 19:35

Call the register office. Nothing will happen if you don't register on time if you speak to them

Littlef00t · 31/05/2015 19:37

If he's so ill he needs a pushchair, and you've established its catching, I really think you need to find someone to look after him or cancel.

silverglitterpisser · 31/05/2015 19:37

Apart from disabilities, or literally a life n death circumstance there is no acceptable reason to push an 8 y/o in a buggy!

I can c ur predicament OP but u need to find a better solution.

NerrSnerr · 31/05/2015 19:43

When I registered my baby there were two other families registering their babies in the waiting room with us as they were running late.

They will not mind you calling and rearranging. They would prefer you did.

Icimoi · 31/05/2015 19:43

I don't know where people get the idea that there are always hordes of newborns at registry office. Ours works on a similar appointment system, and on the five occasions I have had to go we have always been the only ones there.

Icimoi · 31/05/2015 19:44

And, in this weather, presumably OP could leave the 8 year old outside?

ghostspirit · 31/05/2015 19:46

why do people only see/read what they choose to...i have already said there are hardly any people there. i said maybe thats because its by appointment....

and yes i am bothered about the knock on effect it has on my family. because i have not been able to registar him due to the appointment system i have not been able to claim maternity allowence. and asumming it would take another 5 weeks to get an appointment thats at least another 5 weeks without maternity allwence. which is making if difficult money wise

OP posts:
bostonkremekrazy · 31/05/2015 19:49

no probs with him in the buggy if its the only way to get there and you really feel you should keep the appointment - but do please leave him sat outside - don't expose another newborn to the virus....they just don't have the reserves to cope with it.

hopefully though the babysitter will come through and he can stay tucked up at home - sounds poorly!

NerrSnerr · 31/05/2015 19:50

I'm sorry but I don't know how you'd know there'll be hardly anyone there. I had an appointment booked for registering my baby but they were 40 minutes late and there were 2 other families there.

You really need to find someone to look after your 8 year old or not go. It's shit but if the virus is that bad that he cannot walk etc then it could be really bad for a newborn.

Victoria2002 · 31/05/2015 19:51

I have been VERY late registering both my kids and they don't fine you. DP even called them to ask how much the fine is and they were unable to answer. He googled it and no stories of getting fined either. Apart from that, if you need to use a buggy then do but expect lots of judgy looks/comments.

Victoria2002 · 31/05/2015 19:53

Oh sorry just read about the mat allowance.

ghostspirit · 31/05/2015 19:55

i have not said anything about being fined :/ maybe someone else did and i missed it.

krazy yes i could leave him outside.

Why can't the 8 and 12 year olds stay at home?
YAB ridiculous to push an 8 year old in a pushchair on and off the bus.

Artandco · 31/05/2015 19:58

No. Not only should he not go to register office sick, you want to take him on a bus sick.

Just call and reschedule. Nothing happens if you don't register baby.

ghostspirit · 31/05/2015 20:01

little the 12 year old has to go to school....

i dont think its ridiculous at all...sometimes things need to be done. like what if i had no food in the house or i needed to top up gas/electric. do we go without them things because its ridiculous to use a pushchair

OP posts:
littleflick · 31/05/2015 20:05

If he's so I'll that he can't get himself on and off the bus, then he shouldn't be out in public.

Selfish, stupid attitude.

SomethingFunny · 31/05/2015 20:08

I am worried about when YOUR newborn baby catches this virus.

ghostspirit · 31/05/2015 20:10

ok so he should not go out in public...what do i do when i run out of nappys then...i got 7 nappys left so will need some tomorrow...

OP posts:
littleflick · 31/05/2015 20:11

Get the 12 year old to nip out before or after school.

littleflick · 31/05/2015 20:12

Get a babysitter.
