They use the song "So Macho" for a class that runs 3 x per week.

Lyrics:

I don't want no seven stone weakling
Or a boy who thinks he's a girl
I'm after a hunk of a guy
An experienced man of the world
There ain't no way that I'll make do
With anything less than I'm used to
If I have a man tonight
He's gotta be right, right, right

So Macho
He's got to be
So Macho
He's got to be big and strong enough
to turn me on
He's got to have, big blue eyes
Be able to satisfy
He's got to be big and strong enough
to turn me on

I'm tired of taking the lead
I want a man who will dominate me
Someone who will love and protect me
And take care of my every need
Now I don't mean to be personal
But a guy like that's more preferable
In my humble point of view
Than any of you

So Macho
He's got to be
So Macho
He's got to be big and strong enough
to turn me on
He's got to have, big blue eyes
Be able to satisfy
He's got to be big and strong enough
to turn me on

So Macho
He's got to be
So Macho
He's got to be big and strong enough
to turn me on
He's got to have, big blue eyes
Be able to satisfy
He's got to be big and strong enough
to turn me on

Macho man
-Ooh I'm in need of a
Macho man
-Ooh I'm in need of a man...
He's got to be...

YANBU. It's a shit song. No one should be forced to listen to Sinitta.

Couldn't care less about the lyrics tho.

SinclairSpectrum · 14/05/2015 20:13

Got to be a wind up....
Perhaps you could travel back to the 80s and object to the song being recorded?

Writerwannabe83 · 14/05/2015 20:14

You are seriously overthinking this.

TwinkieTwinkle · 14/05/2015 20:16

It's a song. Probably got a decent rhythm for the exercises being done. I think YABU.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 14/05/2015 20:16

God, yanbu on the basis that it's the 1980's at it's worstShock

Surely they can find better tracks. I don't mind 80's stuff at all, that was my era, but even I won't stoop as low as Sinitta!

TheWhiteFlag · 14/05/2015 20:18

Not a wind up. I cringe and feel embarrassed when it comes on. It's offensive to women and trans, and just about anyone with moral fabric imo.

If you really want to go the whole shebang, how about homophobia, objectification and thinnism?

NRomanoff · 14/05/2015 20:19

Did you just want to share the lyrics of your favorite song?

Its a shit song, so feel free to object on those grounds. But be fully prepared for this face from the staff Confused

SaucyJack · 14/05/2015 20:19

If you've got the energy for cringing at Sinitta, then you need to up your weights.

I don't see how one woman expressing her preference for a big strong 'macho' man who she wants to look after and protect her is sexist. I've always had a thing for feminine men who wear makeup. If I wrote a song about wanting a feminine man for me to look after, would that be sexist?

You really have too much time. It's just a song.

DramaQueenofHighCs · 14/05/2015 20:46

Sorry but I had a little 'lol' over the fact that the song is apparently offensive to 'trans' - the last two times I heard the song were at gay pride events - once by the woman herself (and it went down a storm with everyone!) and the other time by a drag queen so I think YABU to believe that abd are definitely over thinking it!! Grin

NorbertDentressangle · 14/05/2015 20:47

Fair point well made Derek

I'm now fecking singing it in my head

DramaQueenofHighCs · 14/05/2015 20:48

(And the Trans people at pride seemed to be happily dancing and singing away as enthusiastically as anyone before anyone asks.)

TwinkieTwinkle · 14/05/2015 20:48

NorbertDentressangle I absolutely love your name. Had to mention it!

RightSideOfWrong · 14/05/2015 20:49

Derek that cracked me up

dailyfix · 14/05/2015 20:50

?

You could ring them & ask them not to play such shit music.

FatAli · 14/05/2015 20:51

Your gym plays music from the 80s? What is the class, step aerobics?

Yes, complain to the gym but be aware that the staff will take the piss when you've gone.

NorbertDentressangle · 14/05/2015 20:52

Why thank you Twinkie Smile

NerrSnerr · 14/05/2015 20:54

One of my first memories is dancing to this song at a holiday park disco flexing my muscles when I was about 8. I think YABU.

dominogocatgo · 14/05/2015 20:58

It's just another harmless gay anthem, surely.

Branleuse · 14/05/2015 21:04

YANBU,

Toy Boy was by far the superior song

sykadelic · 14/05/2015 21:11

It's hard these days to find a song that hasn't got a theme that someone would object to. What if someone decided any references to liking members of the opposite sex was offensive? After all, they shouldn't be forced to listen to music that only subscribes to a "traditional" relationship.

I really do think you're taking the sexist thing too far. It's a song, not a way of life or a mantra. It's not meant to be offensive. It's speaking to people (I note it doesn't mention it's only a girl looking for a strong man) who want a strong macho man. Such is some people's opinion.
