They use the song "So Macho" for a class that runs 3 x per week.

Lyrics:

I don't want no seven stone weakling
Or a boy who thinks he's a girl
I'm after a hunk of a guy
An experienced man of the world
There ain't no way that I'll make do
With anything less than I'm used to
If I have a man tonight
He's gotta be right, right, right

So Macho
He's got to be
So Macho
He's got to be big and strong enough
to turn me on
He's got to have, big blue eyes
Be able to satisfy
He's got to be big and strong enough
to turn me on

I'm tired of taking the lead
I want a man who will dominate me
Someone who will love and protect me
And take care of my every need
Now I don't mean to be personal
But a guy like that's more preferable
In my humble point of view
Than any of you

So Macho
He's got to be
So Macho
He's got to be big and strong enough
to turn me on
He's got to have, big blue eyes
Be able to satisfy
He's got to be big and strong enough
to turn me on

So Macho
He's got to be
So Macho
He's got to be big and strong enough
to turn me on
He's got to have, big blue eyes
Be able to satisfy
He's got to be big and strong enough
to turn me on

Macho man
-Ooh I'm in need of a
Macho man
-Ooh I'm in need of a man...
He's got to be...

It's in my head now.

Arrrgh.

But seriously complain! And film their reaction for us.

AldiQ7 · 15/05/2015 07:29

I totally thought this was going to be about 'blurred lines' or similar and was simultaneously baffled and delighted to see what song you were referring to - hilarious! Offensive to women and trans people? Wtaf?!

I totally remember flexing my muscles whilst dancing to this at a holiday park!

'She is just stating her personal preferences' Grin

Aeroflotgirl · 15/05/2015 07:32

I would complain to the Gym, it is a really naff song Shock

cleanmyhouse · 15/05/2015 07:34

Is your gym in 1983?

LTG for not updating their music for 30 years. Cheap bastards

milisdrivingmecrazy · 15/05/2015 07:52

They played a song about a girl dancing on a pole not being a how the other day, no joke this is a song!

AreYouSureGeorgeBernard · 15/05/2015 07:52

Mmmm. Big blue eyes, able to satisfy.

When you find him, send him round please.

Oh yeah, and may I suggest a Walkman, seeing we're back in the 80s headphones then you can listen to your own choice of music. 'Lola', anyone?

NoArmaniNoPunani · 15/05/2015 07:55

One of my spin teachers plays 90's rave.

southeastastra · 15/05/2015 07:57

get them to play lets get physical by omj instead with video

manicinsomniac · 15/05/2015 07:58

Offensive to women ???

I read your OP and thought 'oh, that's one of the first threads I've ever seen about sexism towards men '

Was that a typo? How is it offensive to women? I don't know the song but to me it reads like a woman who is saying that only a certain size and body type is acceptable to her in a man.

If it was a man singing about how only slim and toned girls are acceptable to him it would be seen as crass and sexist. I think.

I wouldn't get worked up about a song in a gym though.

PureMorning · 15/05/2015 08:00

I love macho man

< not ashamed>

GerundTheBehemoth · 15/05/2015 08:06

I have it in my head now, but the version sung by Jeremy Hardy to the tune of La Marseillaise (thanks, ISIHAC!)

Fairenuff · 15/05/2015 08:13

I'll be able to spot all the mners today as they go around humming this song.

ifgrandmahadawilly · 15/05/2015 08:44

Fgs. I'm gonna have that in my head all day now. For that yabu.

BitOutOfPractice · 15/05/2015 08:52

As someone with green eyes I am offended by the eye-ism in this song Sad

highlighta · 15/05/2015 08:53

You obviously aren't working yourself hard enough at the gym OP if you are able to nitpick about a song that plays. Repeatedly it seems.

I agree completely! I can not work out how this song where a woman is singing about what sort of man she thinks is acceptable is "offensive to women and trans"
