To ask why you are worried about a Tory government?

Genuinely interested. I'm not British and didn't vote. My husband a FIL are saying this is the first time in a long time they are NOT worried about the UK. If you are worried, why specifically?

Because all hospitals are going to close, state benefits are going to be reduced to 20p a week and clandestine big business leaders are going to have all our children rounded up and forced to work in factories counting their money for them.

I'm worried because their values are alien to me. They seem to lack any understanding or compassion for the most vulnerable in society and their rhetoric around benefits is exaggerated and designed to scapegoat and turn people against each other. Considering the damage they were able to inflict whilst being tempered by the Lib Dems I am very concerned about what they will do now that they have the freedom to implement their ideological attack on those who are most in need of help from the state.

Oh, yes, all the hospital see scheduled for closure, it's a known fact. My local hospital are hiding their Land For Development Sale sign, but I know it's there, they can't fool me.

My GP has already closed the surgery and has quit the country to go and work in Kazakhstan.

67% of the UK population (excluding the Scots) will have died out by this time next year. The rich will take over our property and use our organs to raise even more money.

I don't like their values. I don't like the undeserving poor rhetoric which has constantly been peddled since they got in 5 years ago. I don't like that they are scrapping the human rights act. I don't like David Cameron and his waxing lyrical about understanding what it's like to care for a disabled child whilst simultaneously screwing the NHS. I don't like that the richest 1% has quadrupled their wealth under the coalition.

What has certainly been an eye-opener has been the insult trading and hysteria on some threads.

Most of the gains the Tories made were from the LibDems who seemed to be pushed out of the argument. If the Lib Dem supporters had held faith with their party instead of being frightened by polls and tabloids into "keeping out Labour/SNP" I suspect the Conservatives would not have gained their majority.

All the rhetoric concerned Labour demons v Evil Tories or monster UKIPpers.
The Lib Dems got no credit for what they achieved in government, (when they only had a small number of the votes so could never have forced their own policies through). They did temper what the conservatives could do and would probably have done the same if Labour had got in but they were wiped out.
We shall get some sort of an idea of the role they played in the next year or so I think.

Because I am very likely to lose my job entirely having already been cut to 3 days. I've been applying but since I've hit 50, I haven't even got through to interview. This was never the case before.

Because the divide between rich and poor is growing ever wider.

Because of the deliberate peddling of the myth that hard work is all you need to bring success to your life and that if by bad fortune you end up in poverty you've only got yourself to blame.

Benefits sanctions.

Bedroom tax.

Privatisation of the NHS.

Treatment of the long term ill and disabled

The current state of mental health services in the UK, having had budgets pared to the bone.

In fact I can't think of one good thing about them being in power at all. Except that it means Ukip aren't.

Because I suffer mental illness and trying to get help on the NHS is hard enough as it is. At the end of another five years, I'm not sure there will be any budget left to help people like me.

I also think any majority government is scary because they can get things passed which change the country dramatically, (without the need for further discussion/voting/agreement).

I would have been equally scared to have had a Labour majority.

Most people voting, (including myself) cannot possibly have had a detailed understanding of the proposals and consequences of those proposals when they voted. Most people voted with an understanding of several of the issues and a general preference for one party or another.

It is mad.

I am disabled. They have already cut services for disabled people. There will be more cuts. That is why I am afraid.

Because I work for a MH charity. Mine and my colleagues' jobs are funded and we have been told that the funding will probably not be renewed due to the cuts. We will be unemployed and the vulnerable children and adults we work with cut adrift.

Because my DS has ASD. He gets extra help. That too will be withdrawn.Sad

I'm glad your FiL and DH aren't worried OP, but anyone vulnerable and those who work with them are shitting themselves.

And that's exactly why I didn't vote for Labour. They seemed to obsess over the rich and the poor. They wanted to tax the rich and give benefits and handouts to the poor.

And forget the ordinary people in the middle. Who just want a nice comfortable existence. To work, and have a good job, which pays the bills, lets us put away some savings, and let our wives take a year or two off work when having a kid. Who actually care about economic recovery. Labour seems to forget about us, at least since Blair left.
