It's all just sinking in, and the other political threads are too eloquent for what I want to express this morning.

Oh tits. This is rubbish.

OP posts:
ThisFenceIsComfy · 08/05/2015 15:29

Ah it's the day after the election. Maybe I just don't want debate right now. I just want a bit of a pity party Smile

Bodyinpyjamas10 · 08/05/2015 15:30

And where on earth did I day disabled people Are skivers or not entitled to a vote?

And what's with the thank you?

Sorry your post is quite a ridiculous response to any of mine.

Dawndonnaagain · 08/05/2015 15:30

Sticky Care to try that again in English?

Dawndonnaagain · 08/05/2015 15:31

No it isn't body. I asked you to stop going on about what working people are entitled to and pointed out that by using the phrase you are marginalising a significant proportion of the electorate.

Stickytoffeepuddingplease · 08/05/2015 15:31

Ah feck off with you?

Bodyinpyjamas10 · 08/05/2015 15:32

If you don't want a debate or opinions don't post on aibu then. Confused

Luckystar82 · 08/05/2015 15:35

I hope those mumsnetters who voted Tory realise that to make the £12bn savings from the welfare budget, they plan to axe all statutory maternity and paternity pay and leave rights and axe child benefit. You probably just thought welfare reform would hurt the "undeserving poor" didn't you? Would you have voted Tory if you realised it would affect you to? Who exactly is going to pay for our pensions when we are old if the birth rate drops as a result of these stupid policies?!

Stickytoffeepuddingplease · 08/05/2015 15:36

Can you not read Dawn??

Are you not aware of how bad your party did last night and that your Leader has resigned?

Try turning on the news or looking in the Papers, even the Guardian can't lie.

Worst Labour Election result since 1982 according to official figures.

Oh. Dear.

Bodyinpyjamas10 · 08/05/2015 15:36

Dawn with great respect how is that then?

My own blue badge dd will hopefully be a working person.

I don't like the phrase working class as it's so bloody class ridden.

For the record Britain deserves a party that represents working people, people working with a disability and those who are unable to work due to a disability or illness.

Now is that ok? Good grief.

BettyCatKitten · 08/05/2015 15:36

If we leave th EU it will be bye bye Scotland. If Scotland leave the Uk they will want the oil, which is in private hands, resources and access to them are a primary source of conflict. DC has a lot of balls to juggle. We live in interesting times.

Dawndonnaagain · 08/05/2015 15:36

Body this thread was posted for people to say fuck it, we're unhappy with the situation. Fine.
It is possible to debate. I asked you about using the phrase working people because, as stated, it marginalises a group that is not an insignificant part of the electorate. It was not an unreasonable request. It can be incorporated into the debate.
As for not posting on aibu, who made you the thread police, you've only been here ten minutes. Hmm

Dawndonnaagain · 08/05/2015 15:37

Why Good grief, what the fuck is wrong with making it clear and inclusive.

ThisFenceIsComfy · 08/05/2015 15:39

Ok. Fine.

Bodyinpyjamas10 · 08/05/2015 15:41

lucky paternity leave is a ridiculous indulgence only enjoyed by those is huge corporations or who work for the state.

My self employed dh couldn't indulge and many small firms find this hard to bear so yes it should go and the costs saved didn't on disabled or elderly social care.

We don't need my dds child benefit.

Totally support means tested child benefit and will gladly give ours up to help others less fortunate.

ThisFenceIsComfy · 08/05/2015 15:41

Fwiw, I have responded politely and respectfully.

Bodyinpyjamas10 · 08/05/2015 15:42

Nope not thread police but aibu usually gets responses. To try and monitor those responses makes you the thread police surely Hmm

BishopBrennansArse · 08/05/2015 15:50

Crikey never realised that you could give birth to a plastic card...

Luckystar82 · 08/05/2015 15:58

body my self employed hubby doesn't get paternity leave either. But then he pays less NI so I can understand why this is. However, to get rid of statutory maternity pay is total madness. We already have one of the least generous maternity systems in the developed world. We would just be joining the US, which means that many women who are in work won't be able to have babies. In the US many women are forced to leave the workforce, but can afford to be SAHM because their housing costs as % of household income are much, much lower than average household in UK. Sad times for 'working' families.

MrsFring · 08/05/2015 16:04

Actually, TheBody is talking a lot of sense imho. The LP needs to totally re-think and re-group from the ground up; we must never find ourselves in this terrible situation again, I found myself looking around the supermarket today and thinking Who Are You People? It feels like 1992 all over again. Ghastly.

ColdTeaAgain · 08/05/2015 16:04

Fuckidy fuckidy fuck fuck fuck.

We have a young family, I'm in the Nhs, DP in teaching. We are just about making ends meet and work fucking ridiculous hours. Feel like this county does not give one shiny shit about us right now.

Fuck.

Luckystar82 · 08/05/2015 16:06

body statutory paternity pay doesn't cost small businesses anything. The govt pays for it. Firms can choose to top it up. It is not an indulgence but necessity for many working families who rely on father helping mum recover after birth. Not everyone is lucky enough to have non-working family members they can rely on.

Also, just to note CB is already means tested. It was introduced to give women independence over some income designated for their children - the idea behind it is to ensure a minimum standard of living for every child regardless of household income. That is why it is paid to mothers. If it is subsumed into universal credit it will be paid to the head of a household - i.e. a dad. This is worrying because it is usually the mothers who have the best interests at heart. In some families means it could be spent on drink, gambling etc. The result = more children growing up in poverty.

BishopBrennansArse · 08/05/2015 16:08

The bizarre thing is that I had a feeling it'd be 1992 again this week.

Pippin16 · 08/05/2015 16:11

Ive had it up to here with all this bullcrap about Tories winning- guess what they got a majority. Not only a FPTP majority they needed to win but an overall majority. Do you remember the opposition debate because if you want a coalition of everyone and his mother that's exactly what cabinet meetings would have been like and fuck all would have been achieved. Im not sure if you've noticed but for the past 5 years david cameron has been PM and Tories (okay along with Lib Dems) have been in power and we havent had a nuclear apocalypse yet have we. So i highly doubt the UK is going to fall apart in the next 5 years. I know the world isn't perfect for everyone but we are hardly in third world poverty. Im better off than i was 5 years ago, i believe the Conservatives have helped me get there. I don't feel guilty for voting blue, i don't have an issue with anyone who voted red, yellow, orange or any other colour under the rainbow as long as they did it for the right reasons. What i do have a problem with is this hand-wringing, knicker-wetting hysteria.

pilates · 08/05/2015 16:13

Grin Agree Pippin16

Compared to other countries, I think we are doing quite well.

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 08/05/2015 16:21

Pippin you've "had it up to here"?? Really? Well, whoopidy doo for you! Nobody FORCED you to click on this thread... ignore the thread and move on.

Those of us that have legitimate concerns because we are dealing with disabilities and other issues have every right to vent a bit. Oh, and my disabled child is the one in this household who does the hand wringing and knicker wetting (and gets hysterical as well). But by all means, feel free to be shitty...... Hmm
