To think you shouldn't insult someone just because they voted differently to you?

It feels like a lot of you would feel more at home in a dictatorship.

I've seen people being called stupid, selfish etc just because they decided to vote differently

I don't care who anyone voted for. I do care that we are a nation that allows everyone to vote for who they want without the threat of violence.

I don't see any Tory supporters gloating and being equally nasty, says a lot really

Er. I refer you to this thread:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/2373733-Thank-goodness-the-country-voted-for-common-sense-so-pleased-the-Tories-won

I would say all it shows, if anything, is that there are a lot of people out there who are extremely angry about the way this country has been run for the past five years. And who are extremely angry about another five years.

usualsuspect333 · 08/05/2015 16:16

I've seen plenty of nasty posts by Tory voters on MN.

Selfishcuntydupe · 08/05/2015 16:18

Has a Tory called anyone a cunt though?

squoosh · 08/05/2015 16:20

I don't see any Tory supporters gloating and being equally nasty, says a lot really.

TORIES WON. TORIES WON. TORIES WON. TORIES WON. TORIES WON.

He stabbed his brother in the back. He can't be trusted. The electorate knew that. I am not a misty eyed Labour supporter.

Yah boo sucks Labour lost. Shame Grin

Shoes on the other foot now!

Madbengalmum · 08/05/2015 16:20

Aermingers, what a great post.
I absolutely agree

Selfishcuntydupe · 08/05/2015 16:24

sqoosh - yes those are gloaty and childish.

But not the same as calling individuals thick selfish cunts and wanting to thump them, is it?

Topseyt · 08/05/2015 16:27

It absolutely is not OK to insult the voters of any political party. We are all entitled to our opinions and concerns, and all entitled to use our democratic right to vote in whatever way we choose.

All options on the ballot paper are legitimate.

I have seen posts from people who clearly think that their views are the only legitimate ones. Compromise or empathy are not words in their vocabulary.

It just reminds me exactly why we vote by secret ballot.

squoosh · 08/05/2015 16:29

I'm sure there are plenty of vile posts from jubilant crowers to be found. If you want to find them that is.

I'm not sure what you're trying to prove though? That some people are pissed off and vocal in the immediate aftermath of the result? Well quelle bloody surprise!

It would be the same from the Tory/UKIP brigade if Labour had been the victor. We all know it.

CheesyDibbles · 08/05/2015 16:30

I have also seen a lot of nasty posts about Tories on MN. Being a labour supporter really seems like an excellent excuse to tell everybody else that they are simply horrid. They have been so busy patting each other on the back, telling themselves what lovely, caring people they all are that they have failed to notice what's going on around them.

Aeroflotgirl · 08/05/2015 16:32

I meant on Facebook, some Labour supporters being very nasty on FB, posts from Tories, I haven't seen any. I haven't scoured Mumsnet in detail yet Wink

MoonriseKingdom · 08/05/2015 16:33

This wasn't some cricket match where we all say 'Good play old chap' and try our hardest next year. I believe the Conservative government will continue to profit the rich while targeting the most vulnerable in society. I believe this election result will have terrible consequences.

You are free to vote for who you like. I am free to criticise that vote. While I wouldn't personally resort to name calling, the idea that Conservative voters are scared and intimidated is laughable.

Try being an opposition voter in Zimbabwe (for example) and get some fucking perspective on what dictatorship means.

Selfishcuntydupe · 08/05/2015 16:34

Squoosh - can you please show me where a Tory has called another poster a cunt, please?

squoosh · 08/05/2015 16:37

Why are you so obsessed with the word 'cunt'?? You were the exact same on another thread too.

That combined with your username makes me thing you're cunt obsessed.

Get over it. Go outside, hang some bunting, celebrate your win.

squoosh · 08/05/2015 16:39

I've found a post where a Tory voter called Labour supporters 'vile little shits'. Is that good enough for you? Probably not.

Selfishcuntydupe · 08/05/2015 16:40

Because you are failing to see the differnce between a bit of crowing and vitriolic perosnal abuse.

But yes - time for a glass of something chilled .Smile

squoosh · 08/05/2015 16:42

'vile little shits' is crowing rather than vitriolic personal abuse?

Oh come now. Even you must realise you're talking nonsense. But I suppose that doesn't fit with your 'woe is me' victim persona.

starwarslegoboy · 08/05/2015 16:42

Cheesy
Are you going to cwy because the nasty MNs are being 'simply horrid'? There there. Give it a few days and you can all go back to making poor people feel guilty for not knowing the provenance of their chicken

Squoosh - they haven't. Because that would mean that the gave a fuck

CheesyDibbles · 08/05/2015 16:46

Nope - I'm definitely not crying today, Starwarslegoboy!

Selfishcuntydupe · 08/05/2015 16:47

Cheesy Grin Wine

TheSecondMrsDraper · 08/05/2015 16:49

Seriously why don't all the people who think living under this government for the next 5 years is the worst thing to ever happen leave the country, and then come back for the next election?

That way you can all chime "we told you so" and be confident that the Tories will screw up?

squoosh · 08/05/2015 16:54

What a most helpful suggestion Draper.

starwarslegoboy · 08/05/2015 16:54

Enjoy your wine. I'll post you pics of the new foodbanks you voted for.

Aermingers · 08/05/2015 16:55

Can someone please explain to me, if the Tories are leaving sick and disabled people to starve in gutters, why are over 2.5 million people on ESA?

Selfishcuntydupe · 08/05/2015 16:57

I haven't seen any in our gutters. Is thsi because they are Tory run gutters? Hmm

Selfishcuntydupe · 08/05/2015 16:58

I'll post you pics of the new foodbanks you voted for.

Okay.
