I have a sicky feeling in the pit of my stomach that we are going to be lumbered with 5 more years of Tory rule. Please let it not be so.

If the election were a Hollywood movie It would be like voting for the evil bad guys. The ones who hate the poor, the disabled, the vulnerable, the ill. Everyone watching the movie would be rooting for the goodies to win the day. Who the hell twisted folk are voting in this country?

Nah out in the real world people know their place, they visit food banks quietly and keep their heads down whilst claiming their pesky benefits.

IndosaSamosa · 08/05/2015 08:04

I think it's time now, seriously, for us Northerners to start talking to the SNP, start figuring out how they've built support, and form a new party of the North.

I'd be happy to just be rid of the South now. Let them be England. I don't feel English any more, if this is what English is.

Hakluyt · 08/05/2015 08:06

I'm just going to keep reposting this....." DWP estimates that £1.2b worth of benefit was fraudulently claimed in benefit last year. However that needs to be set against the £1.5b of unclaimed benefit- That is, money that people are entitled to, but don't claim.

And that pales into insignificance compared to the £34b. "tax gap"- that is money lost by people not paying the taxes they should.

So. £1.2b in benefit fraud. £34b in tax fraud. Interesting which is the headline, isn't it?"

Smile Cammy!!! What a great morning and.....the sun is out!

PanGalaticGargleBlaster · 08/05/2015 08:06

Not too much hyperbole on here then........

Cherrybakewell33 · 08/05/2015 08:07

Unfortunately the sun is not out where i am. Boo.

HappyMeerkat · 08/05/2015 08:07

Hakluyt

I don't think its unreasonable, i've stated just above only a few reasons why i voted Conservative above and mentioned in passing that i do not trust Ed Miliband with all other reasons it's a reasonably small factor in why i didn't vote Labour.

but imagine that the Liberal Democrats are decimated this election and i bet thats partly because of going back on promises such as tuition fee's that whilst they didn't have any hope of lowering or getting rid of tuition fee's they increased them and didn't abstain. with these voter's feeling betrayed why would they vote for another candidate that may sound OK but they think will betray them so it doesn't matter what they promise.

BikketBikketBikket · 08/05/2015 08:07

Morning. I won't put 'good' because it's bloody awful. This thread is saving my sanity, as the world seems full of selfish cunts crowing about 'their' win and failing to mention the collateral damage that their policies will cause. I lived through the 80s- with small children and very little money - & the thought of doing it again with my DGC is just gutting...
I just keep hearing the echo of Neil Kinnock saying, 'I warn you not to be poor, I warn you not to be sick, I warn you not to be old'... Sad

shewept · 08/05/2015 08:09

You know one thing that really pisses me off- people saying that they didn't vote Labour because they don't like Miliband personally. That's just insane! It's like saying that you won't buy a house because you don't like the colour of the front door.....

I understand it to some degree. People don't trust him. A lot of people don't trust labour in general and having him as front man hasn't restored that trust. Its cemented it. People don't trust him to be PM. I think its a big part of it for some people.

The80sweregreat · 08/05/2015 08:09

Bikket, well said.

haklut that's exactly my view. It's hard to articulate my view of people like that. There are no words for their ignorance.

fixedit · 08/05/2015 08:13

Sorry about that!!

ElectraCute · 08/05/2015 08:13

Indosa, can I just point out that there are plenty of us in the south who are not tory-voting cunts?

Inlawsandoutlaws · 08/05/2015 08:13

Just glorious . . . The sky is BLUE

shewept · 08/05/2015 08:14

Can anyone tell me how many recounts Ed Balls can request?

JemimaPuddlePop · 08/05/2015 08:15

Completely disagree Haklyt.

EB is the person who labour as a whole thought was the best man for the job. You can't blame people for taking that into account.

He looks like a little boy lost...no real passion or people skills, other than the cringingly obvious coaching he's had along the lines of 'look at the person Ed and use their name'. He's an ego maniac IMO who's all 'me, me, me' rather than 'us' as a party.

Even if I'd agreed with Labour plans, he probably would have stopped me voting for them...not the man I want running the country.

The80sweregreat · 08/05/2015 08:15

Yes, not all the south are the C word you know. We remember the tories of old only too well!

Cammy!!! What a great morning and.....the sun is out!

I can tell you've really got a grasp of this whole politics thing.

Is cloudy here - meteorologically and politically.

Remind us all of your rampant self-interest and how it's good for everyone.
