I have a sicky feeling in the pit of my stomach that we are going to be lumbered with 5 more years of Tory rule. Please let it not be so.

i don't get the reasoning for people assuming Tory voters vote for "whats right for us" as if those that vote labour do not, to me i see no evidence of labour voters not doing the exact same thing, but a lot of presumed would be labour voters don't vote, which quite frankly except for certain exceptions i don't see if they don't help themselves in this matter (and some could argue its an example of general ethic) then why should Tory voters become knights in shining armour for them when they have shown they don't help themselves by voting?

again i said some can't vote and i accept that, and i'm speaking generally i know there are people Tory would help that vote labour and vice versa.

shewept · 08/05/2015 07:34

I sincerely hope that those of you who voted Tory stay in perfect health and keep your jobs. I hope you always have good luck. I hope life never happens to you.

I don't think you are correct in assuming that's why people voted tory.

In Outwood and Morely, people wanted rid of ed balls. They can not get rid and vote for a Labour government. Ed Balls has let a lot of constituents down and they no longer want or trust him. My Labour MP is great and so no conflict of voting.

Catdogwormfrog · 08/05/2015 07:34

I worry about the future of our schools and hospitals

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 08/05/2015 07:35

As I said to my friend in America. David Cameron isnt about leadership, leading is just a money spinner for him and his rich friends.

Anyone who thinks he actually gives a shit about the country is in for a nasty shock.

eyebags63 · 08/05/2015 07:36

JamNan Ironically if Miliband had been weaker and agreed to an EU referendum he probably would have stopped a lot of voters switching to UKIP. UKIP really cost the Labour party, not the Conservatives as expected.

I'm quite shocked at the number of people who do take this 'I'm alright jack' mentality. People have fully bought into the Conservative/IDS narrative that the country is full of workshy scroungers that need to be punished.

happybubblebrain · 08/05/2015 07:40

It's a sad day. I think there are a lot of people who aren't aware just how tough things are going to get.

fixedit · 08/05/2015 07:41

Hillingdon, it really is lovely that your 17 year old has a Saturday job. I work with 16-25 year olds who are homeless due to shit families and the shit care system. Wouldn't it be lovely if they had parents to support them so they could work one day a week but life isn't like that. Not everyone is fortunate enough to have a decent family. Incidentally when the torys cut housing benefit for under 25's these people will be homeless again and a shit load of redundancies. But that's ok because it's so easy to find work in this country if you're not lazy.

BigSpottyCupofTea · 08/05/2015 07:41

Electra, exactly! Hope life never happens. I'm lucky I've got a job, can afford my rent and feed my family. But I know it's just that luck. It could change. I was fortunate to grow up in a middle class family who valued education. But that was just luck too.

shewept · 08/05/2015 07:42

Apparently, Morely and Outwood are on their 3rd recount at Ed Balls request.

Maybe he is planning on recounting all the way to the next election.

CremeEggThief · 08/05/2015 07:42

Awful, awful newsSad. Even worse than the exit poll suggested.

Why have so many voted the Tories in for another 5 years? Why?Confused

The80sweregreat · 08/05/2015 07:42

Happy, at least a coalition would have watered down the worst of the tory cuts. Kicking Clegg n co was a disaster.

The80sweregreat · 08/05/2015 07:44

Creme, the right wing tory press. People were scared.

Downtheroadfirstonleft · 08/05/2015 07:46

Am really pleased with the way the result is going. I voted Conservative because we need a strong economy in order to be able to pay for health/ education/ social services etc.

The80sweregreat

i was expecting another coalition to be honest, i think it was a good medium whilst i voted Tory i do think it will get tough, but it wasn't just welfare that made me vote for the Conservatives considering my mum is disabled and my brother and I essentially do a lot of care for her. i support and hope the 7 day a week GP service is achieved as i was in awe of the GP service near where i went to university that was open 365 days a year, whilst the counselling i get for Anxiety is offered by a private provider which whilst not perfect has helped me. i think there are many more reasons than just economy that swayed conservative voters and not just Tory policy, i do not trust Ed and feel if it was David it may have been a different story.

Whilst not a fan of proportional representation the current system is unfair, how can SNP get 40 time the amount of seat on half the number of votes than UKIP across whole of uk
Ps not a ukip or snp voter.

Cherrybakewell33 · 08/05/2015 07:55

I agree I feel like the FPTP system is rubbish, but I'm not really clued up on the alternatives.

The80sweregreat · 08/05/2015 07:55

Down, they may well get a strong economy ( by putting up interest rates and cutting back to the bone) but they wont spend it on these things. Why would they when they can afford private this and that and think that everyone is like them? I was hoping for a coalition, it stops people doing their worst.

OnTheRoadToLTB · 08/05/2015 07:57

Ashamed to be British.

Hakluyt · 08/05/2015 07:58

You know one thing that really pisses me off- people saying that they didn't vote Labour because they don't like Miliband personally. That's just insane! It's like saying that you won't buy a house because you don't like the colour of the front door.....

FergalSharkeysfloppyfringe · 08/05/2015 08:00

Delighted with the results.

clearly the vitriol by labour supporters on here isn't something reproduced out in the real world.

SarfEasticatedMumma · 08/05/2015 08:00

Exactly haklut it's the party fgs not the person. What's wring with people.

BigSpottyCupofTea · 08/05/2015 08:00

A strong economy would have come with a party that stopped the richest avoiding paying taxes they should be paying and investing in the state. Not one that brings tax cuts for the rich. Oh and I should be a Tory prime target. I am a solicitor employed by one of the largest law firms in the country. And I still can't afford to buy my own house.

SarfEasticatedMumma · 08/05/2015 08:01

Or 'wrong'
