My ds is 2.5 and crazy about bing (annoying black rabbit on cbeebies) since there is no bing toys available yet I found a pattern online and made him a cuddly toy bing. This has received a lot of attention and have happily taken peoples email addresses and linked them to the pattern.
This morning we went to the park and a woman approached me asking about my ds's bing, I offered to email her the pattern but she said she wanted to buy the one that I had made. I explained that he wasn't for sale but she kept offering me more and more money (£50 Shock) in the end after trying to explain I snapped a bit, said that its my son's favourite toy and its not for sale and to please leave me alone now.
She huffed off and left with her dd, less than a minute later my ds started crying "bing gone" I assumed he had dropped him off the climbing frame but couldn't find him anywhere, I walked to the other end of the park and saw this woman getting in her car with bing in her hands! I tried to run after her but she drove off, got my phone out to try and take a picture of the number plate but it was to late.
Who on earth would do that? I'm going in between being angry and trying not to cry. Ds cried the whole way home and is now looking around trying to find him Sad
My dd is a year old and we have been in and out of hospital with her for her whole life. I made bing as a present for ds for being angel at all of dds appointments, he even helps to stop her crying during tests.
Lucky I have lots of fabric left over so I'm desperately cutting out fabric to make another one.
I'm just in shock, who on earth would take a toy off a 2year old!
I really don't think the police would be interested in a homemade toy being stolen, sorry for the pity post, I just needed to rant Sad

Some people really do have issues, she's not a nice person.

blueskydrinking79 · 01/05/2015 10:52

Hi op, I hope your little boy is coping okay. My little boy loves bing too. Thank you for the link, I'm going to try and make him one.

I really hope they find this woman. It's such a horrible thing to do.

My mum lost my nephew's bear the day his sibling was born. When he "returned" from his holiday he had a little suitcase, like one of the posters above mentioned. Pm me if you'd like Bing to send a postcard from his travels (I'm in Australia).

Thinking of you and hope all works out

eddielizzard · 01/05/2015 10:59

what an utterly shit thing to do. i really hope you get it back.

gotthemoononastick · 01/05/2015 11:23

My sister and I still talk about the dolly someone stole from her in the 1950's!
We old ladies still want to pin the bitch up against the wall in a Mumsnet way!
So glad the little chap will have another made by his own Mummy!

maninawomansworld · 01/05/2015 13:20

Oh and do you have picture of the toy? Post it on FB. Share, share and share some more. If I was you I'd be tempted to contact the Daily Fail. This is often where they come in handy and I can bet you they'd love a story like this. Get it out there and let's name and shame this vile hideous woman!
Do this ^^^^

I am friends with one of the Mail's Reporters if you want his number, they would love that story!

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 01/05/2015 13:30

Oh God OP what a VILE woman! Who would do that to a child!!

I agree with everyone else, FB, DM etc. I would love for her to be found and named and shamed. Would serve her right.

I also think you should think about what you will do should you ever see her out and about or in the same playground again. You don't want to be caught unawares and it would be fabulous if you had a really scathing, cutting remark at the ready. Or even just a plan to cross the road and avoid, avoid, avoid.

Bear for your cute little DS in the meantime

bingbunnydaddy · 01/05/2015 14:36

Dear goldenduckling, I am horrified to hear of this. Please feel free to contact me via my facebook page, www.facebook.com/bingbunnydaddy. I am the original creator of Bing and would be delighted to do what I can to turn this awful story into a somewhat more happy one in the end. Ted

emptychangingbag · 01/05/2015 14:37

you have to put a picture on your local facebook mums/page. Social media can be very powerful.

Ahhhh! gets a bit flustered and excited about Bingbunnydaddy being on the thread

My friend recently made me a "WWFD" bracelet as What would Flop do is my parenting mantra!

Sorry to detract!

Hope your DS had an ok night and didn't miss Bing too much! I've seen this thread crop up on a few FB feeds so glad to see its getting lots of attention!

DidoTheDodo · 01/05/2015 14:56

Hurrah for bingbunnydaddy. How about a storyline where poor Bing gets kidnapped by a nasty scary woman and NO GOOD comes to her?

gilmoregirl · 01/05/2015 15:04

this is such a shocking story, really cannot believe anyone would actually do that :(

Read the book "Tatty Ratty" by Helen Cooper to your DS while you are making the new one. Hope you are ok.

Allstoppedup · 01/05/2015 15:04

I like the idea of a story where someone steals Bings Hoppity Boosh toy and Flop and the other "parents" track down the culprit and just wail on them...

I'm a pacifist usuallyBlush

Ruralretreating · 01/05/2015 15:28

What a horrible person to steal from a child. I'm just appalled. If you do post on FB let us all know and I'm sure everyone will share it. Hope bingbunnydaddy can help you OP.
