My ds is 2.5 and crazy about bing (annoying black rabbit on cbeebies) since there is no bing toys available yet I found a pattern online and made him a cuddly toy bing. This has received a lot of attention and have happily taken peoples email addresses and linked them to the pattern.
This morning we went to the park and a woman approached me asking about my ds's bing, I offered to email her the pattern but she said she wanted to buy the one that I had made. I explained that he wasn't for sale but she kept offering me more and more money (£50 Shock) in the end after trying to explain I snapped a bit, said that its my son's favourite toy and its not for sale and to please leave me alone now.
She huffed off and left with her dd, less than a minute later my ds started crying "bing gone" I assumed he had dropped him off the climbing frame but couldn't find him anywhere, I walked to the other end of the park and saw this woman getting in her car with bing in her hands! I tried to run after her but she drove off, got my phone out to try and take a picture of the number plate but it was to late.
Who on earth would do that? I'm going in between being angry and trying not to cry. Ds cried the whole way home and is now looking around trying to find him Sad
My dd is a year old and we have been in and out of hospital with her for her whole life. I made bing as a present for ds for being angel at all of dds appointments, he even helps to stop her crying during tests.
Lucky I have lots of fabric left over so I'm desperately cutting out fabric to make another one.
I'm just in shock, who on earth would take a toy off a 2year old!
I really don't think the police would be interested in a homemade toy being stolen, sorry for the pity post, I just needed to rant Sad

Assuming the thief never got her comeuppance then, and that the original bing wasn't found/returned?

chocolateyay · 27/05/2015 22:16

God help any mum of a child who has a toy black bunny. The hisses of 'bingthief' will follow her like a bad smell.

MeltchettsLovelyMoustache · 28/05/2015 00:05

Very handy that this (viral) thread popped up when they were bringing out a toy range.

MustShowDH · 28/05/2015 02:36

Just read whole thread.
Not seen it before, but my 4yr old may be forced to watch it tomorrow!

CSIJanner · 28/05/2015 12:29

Far as I know, this isn't a marketing viral thread. People have been onto the Bing authors for the last 10months for soft toys as LO's love the books and programme. That's why they have out sewing patterns to download and make your own. Plus the Bing FB page wrote about this toy being stolen and sending on a Flop to OP.

Personally I would love to be able to see and make DC2 one but am useless. So might buy. Really wish OP comes back with a photo though.

TheSkiingGardener · 04/06/2015 22:35

Did they get re-introduced OP? Hope it went well.

Was this thread one of those viral advertising malarkeys?

No - this was one of those lovely genuine moments in life where something great happens.

But by all means, knock yourselves out with your scepticism and Hmm

Oh and have my first Biscuit

YouTheCat · 21/07/2015 13:28

I'm pretty sure someone mentioned that the company was going to be bringing out their own Bing in the future.

MitzyLeFrouf · 21/07/2015 13:29

I love when people off you their 'first biscuit' as it it's a taser gun!

Kreeshsheesh · 21/07/2015 13:33

I cannot believe the depravity of that woman. Contact your local rag.
Isn't it depressing when you realise that there are some truly wicked people in this world we live in? I really feel sorry for you OP. I can only imagine the hurt and anger you feel on the part of your son. I hope karma catches up with her. Flowers

Kreeshsheesh · 21/07/2015 13:37

Oops sorry should have read while thread and realised it was quite old! My mind isn't in its usual place right now. Given me an idea for my sewing machine though!

MissJoMarch · 21/07/2015 15:04

mitzy We play with live ammunition here at mumsnet. It's either a sardonic biscuit or you get called a miserable c*

You choose

MitzyLeFrouf · 21/07/2015 15:08

Go with 'cunt' if you honestly feel that irrationally emotional about it all.

cjt110 · 21/07/2015 16:47

OP, I was recently in a toy store (cant remember for the life of me which) and I saw a stuffed Bing and thought of you How sad am I

Stealing from anyone is disgusting, but. To do it to a child is an all time low. Yes you might have more fabric to make another, but. He loved that one.

Fancy stealing from a child to give to your own. Does she have some sort of attachment disorder in which she cannot emphasise and feel what others feel. Can she not put her child in the shoes of your little one.
She knows full well your ds would have sobbing his little heart out. For all she knows. He may not be able to go to sleep with out that. Still like she gives a shiny shit. I feel.sorry for her little one. Having such a bad example for a mother.
