And not in the fridge? Dp thinks it should be kept in the fridge but I disagree- I have told him the verdict relies upon the great women of mums net!

I don't care what temperature the cupboard is, it is so much nicer really cold from the fridge.

madhairday · 25/04/2015 13:09

Yay! #teamfreezer

ScorpioMermaid · 25/04/2015 13:52

A high cupboard where nobody else goes. Unless it's really hot, then I might pop it in the fridge for an hour or so before scoffing it ??

patterkiller · 25/04/2015 14:06

Most bars actually say 'do not refrigerate' on the packet. Cupboard all the way here.

Mehitabel6 · 25/04/2015 16:11

I don't follow instructions if it is much better ignored.

PuppyMonkey · 25/04/2015 16:19

Fry's Chocolate Cream from fridge nothing is better.

mateysmum · 25/04/2015 16:22

DH who worked for a very well known chocolate manufacturer for 25 years and therefore mistakenly thinks he know about these things says chocolate HAS to be a room temperature to get the flavour - a bit like cheese or red wine. I disagree. I like it from the fridge as you get that lovely crunch and then an extra long lovely melt on the tongue. The only exception is white chocolate. We too have an aga so chocolate in the cupboard is always a bit sticky.

BolshierAyraStark · 25/04/2015 17:58

I hate hate HATE chocolate that's been in the fridge. Just plain wrong.

Mehitabel6 · 25/04/2015 18:02

I think it is just purely personal choice. Luckily I can always have mine the way that I like it- from the fridge- it just tastes so much better that way.
Others can have it room temperature if they wish.
There is no 'right' way.

Elfontheedge · 25/04/2015 18:08

My brother is a chocolatier and he says chocolate must not go in the fridge.

Mehitabel6 · 25/04/2015 22:31

A chocolatier has no control once he has sold the chocolate. If the customer is like me and prefers the taste cold from the fridge then that is what the customer will do. He is free to eat his own anyway he likes- as is everyone.
The expert may be right, but he isn't right for me.

PinkPearlClutcher · 25/04/2015 22:33

No sane person would put chocolate in the fridge!

queeninthenorth · 25/04/2015 23:16

Keeping it in the fridge is just plain WRONG. My MIL does this. It's just WRONG.

frostyfingers · 28/04/2015 13:27

You store chocolate? Any chocolate that comes into our house doesn't need storing.......

MTBMummy · 28/04/2015 13:49

It depends...

Dark chocolate only in the cupboard, everything else isn't really chocolate, but DP keeps his milk chocolate in the fridge

popalot · 28/04/2015 13:50

Cupboard. Has to be room temp for me, otherwise can't taste the choc as well.

honeyroar · 28/04/2015 13:53

I never get to the storage stage, so it's not a decision I've had to take!

Merse · 28/04/2015 15:08

Fridge and take out an hour before you want to eat it ideally, if you are capable of that sort of restraint which I rarely am

lagartaroja · 28/04/2015 15:13

According to the chocolate museum in Bariloche it should be room temperature. Bariloche is Argentina's chocolate capital don't you know.

unlucky83 · 28/04/2015 15:44

In a 'special' plastic drawer in my office labelled 'receipts for DIY' in this house ..with a single receipt for some insulation on the top Wink
I also have 'treat sweets' for the DCs in the front of a filing cabinet drawer but that has been discovered...

PlumpingThePartTimeMother · 28/04/2015 15:52

Let chocolate (pref Dairy Milk) melt when you accidentally forget it in a very hot car, then stick it in the freezer, then bring it out to thaw at room temp. Delicious.

prettymess · 28/04/2015 17:21

I'm Belgian and I was absolutely shocked when I found British people put chocolate in the fridge. But after 15 years in the UK, I have learnt that Cadbury's Diary Milk needs to be kept in the fridge. Any sort of decent chocolate definitely not Wink

albertcamus · 28/04/2015 17:25

Agree with prettymess re. decent chocolate & not putting it in fridge

TwosaCrowd · 28/04/2015 17:58

You're all wrong. Chocolate should not be stored, it can only be hidden momentarily before scoffing secretly and out of sight.

asuwere · 28/04/2015 17:59

fridge, has to be - to be slowly melted in the mouth :)

unless it's a chocolate digestive - obviously kept in the cupboard.
