Always fridge. Hate warm chocolate. Chocolate Digestives-in the freezer.

ohhhhpieceofcandy · 24/04/2015 20:41

I usually keep it in the cupboard and then put it in the fridge 10 minutes or so before I want to eat it. It needs to be cool but not rock hard.

Aren't vending machines usually slightly refrigerated? I wonder if there's a market for a special at home chocolate cooler.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 24/04/2015 20:42

Never fridge, it goes brittle and loses it's flavour.

Sparklingbrook · 24/04/2015 20:43

I hate it when I walk into a shop and see the sun shining on the chocolate display.

OberonTheHopeful · 24/04/2015 20:44

Fridge!

DamsonInDistress · 24/04/2015 20:46

Depends on the chocolate. Cheap chocolate goes in the fridge to improve it. Proper chocolate stays in the cupboard where it can maintain its quality.

missmargot · 24/04/2015 20:47

It depends on the chocolate. Slabs of Fruit and Nut should be chilled as should the little Kinder chocolate bars. Everything else in the cupboard.

HootyMcTooty · 24/04/2015 20:48

Damson is spot on.

happybubblebrain · 24/04/2015 20:48

I think keeping it is wrong.

Lemondrizzletwunt · 24/04/2015 20:48

only shit chocolate is unaffected by keeping in the fridge.

This is no exaggeration when I say LTB.

OttiliaVonBCup · 24/04/2015 20:50

Haven't had a chocolate digestive in years...

Almostfifty · 24/04/2015 20:51

Cupboard. It's lush all melty and everything.

I dip mine in my cuppa.

Guiltypleasures001 · 24/04/2015 20:51

Casimir · 24/04/2015 20:51

youngestisapyscho · 24/04/2015 20:53

Its not true about the "good" chocolate and "shit" chocolate divide re: refrigeration. Chocolates from a chocolatier are stored in a chiller.
Our local independent place threw away an entire "batch" when their chiller packed up last summer

TheRealAmandaClarke · 24/04/2015 21:05

And, at the risk of being utterly dull, the "bloom" on chocolate ("going white") is usually caused by the choc beingstored in too warm an environment, causing the fat to separate.

OttiliaVonBCup · 24/04/2015 21:16

Chocolates from a chocolatier are stored in a chiller.

Chocolates are not chocolate in bars, in the sense that they have usually fillings that can spoil in warm temperatures.

Bloom on chocolate come from a change in temperature, hot or cold, but because it's in room temp in shops putting it in the fridge brings the change and causes it to go white.

londonrach · 24/04/2015 21:18

Fridge only in countries where choc woukd melt, otherwise its a cool cupboard!!!!

Mandatorymongoose · 24/04/2015 21:21

Fridge - especially wispas. I wish I had a nice cold wispa right now.

promenade · 24/04/2015 21:25

Cupboard! Horrible from fridge, not melty enough. My DH goes one further and keeps it in the freezer (freak).

TenerifeSea · 24/04/2015 21:30

Cupboard, every time. I have a partner who believes in fridge chocolate and we once had a full blown row over it. Blush

cardibach · 24/04/2015 21:31

My kitchen is too warm for cupboard (Aga) so it goes in the fridge to maintain structural integrity. Never had any go white. It goes perfectly melts when left in the tongue - are some of you biting and swallowing without tasting and savouring? YABU.
