City break in forin parts. With shiny glam relatives. I am fat, scruffy and windswept.

I have about 2 hours spare after 18.00 tomorrow evening.

FFS help me!

What do you feel comfortable in? Maybe dress up some of the windswept clothes but not fleeces. A jacket or a scarf can make something look posher and change your look.

HookedOnHooking · 23/04/2015 21:48

Crocs?

HookedOnHooking · 23/04/2015 21:49

Or slightly grubby converse.

Go with a colour theme, black/white. Or beige / cream.

Only take a few things, but all that you can mix and match. Skirts tops and trousers
1 pair of heels for evening, comfy sandals and a jacket

HookedOnHooking · 23/04/2015 21:50

Heels? I don't own heels!

Have you had a look in Style & Beauty? There are loads of similar threads with some great links to stuff.

Have a lovely time

BoyScout · 23/04/2015 21:50

Pretty scarves. Cost little, make a big difference.

creampie · 23/04/2015 21:51

The blog putting me together gives good ideas on packing a capsule wardrobe and dressing clothes differently for different looks (belts, scarves, etc). Obviously depends on what's already in your wardrobe but might give you some ideas?

DownWithThisTypeOfThing · 23/04/2015 21:52

Knee length tea dress, light cardigan, opaque tights (dint give a fuck if it's sunny - I won't give up my opaque). Either boots or Mary Janes.

How long is your hair? If it's longer than shoulder length work with a messy look. one of my favourite looks is tonged, pulled into a loose bun at one side so visible from front and then a few bits pulled down at the front - slightly more on the side without the bun.

HookedOnHooking · 23/04/2015 21:53

2 hours people. After 18.00 tomorrow. No shops open then.

Wardrobe devoid of style.

Shoes shit.

Fat.

PANIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just try and find something new that you like and feel comfortable in?

Charlotte3333 · 23/04/2015 21:54

What do you normally wear?

It depends on the weather as to what to take. For somewhere reasonably warm I'd go for smart, comfy shoes during the day with smart-ish jeans, a breton top and a lightweight jacket (cliche, yes, easy to wear, yes).
For the evenings I'd go for a dark-coloured knee-length dress with low-ish heels (nobody wants to be the falling-over tourist on cobbled streets). Nice handbag always raises an outfit fifty points on the fashion scale, nothing bright or crazy, think leather and classy. Dear God I've become my mother.

HookedOnHooking · 23/04/2015 21:54

I suspect the only answer is booze. Get pissed enough that I don't feel inadequate and scruffy.

Cross post sorry... Internet shopping with next day delivery and free returns so you can order a few to try? (if budget allows)

hobNong · 23/04/2015 21:55

How long until you go away? Enough time to order online? Some places do guaranteed next day delivery for a charge but I think even without that most things get to you the next day or day after that.

DownWithThisTypeOfThing · 23/04/2015 21:55

where do you live? Most retail parks open until 9pm aren't they?

hobNong · 23/04/2015 21:56

Also where are you? In central London there's shops open after 6pm

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 23/04/2015 21:56

OK, first things first:
Passport, tickets, money.

Use money to buy nice things in airport or in glam forrin city.

Seriously...work with us here. What DO you have and can you wash it now?

Seriouslyffs · 23/04/2015 21:56

Where can you get to to shop?

Hoppinggreen · 23/04/2015 21:56

Most large shopping centres are open until 9 or 10.
Otherwise do you have a large Sainsburys near you? They have some nice stuff in and it's arranged in a way that's easy to choose outfits

Charlotte3333 · 23/04/2015 21:56

Loads of shops are open til 8pm on a friday evening. For basics I live in Next, Reiss and Gap. For handbags and shoes, go to John Lewis. In fact, go to John Lewis for it all, they've everything under one roof and if you can't find a dress in there, you won't find one anywhere.

Converse with jeans and a breton top looks cute enough to get away with during the day. i love converse. Everyone in the world does.

athousandsplendidsuns · 23/04/2015 21:57

Sounds more complicated than just clothes!

HookedOnHooking · 23/04/2015 21:57

Handbag????

Heels??????

Arses.

OP posts:
TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 23/04/2015 21:58

Also for a weekend you only need four outfits MAX: 2 x day, 2 x evening

Day 1: trousers, flats, jacket, top
Day 2: same as day one with different top / scarf
Evening 1: dress, shoes
Evening 2: different dress same shoes

hobNong · 23/04/2015 21:58

Oh and where are you going? Somewhere hot or cold or in between? Hard to help with such little info.

I don't wear heels either. I find a good pair of sandals is great for lots of walking abroad. I do own heels from the past but nowadays only wear the very small ones (1 or 2 inches) if I really feel I have to.
