City break in forin parts. With shiny glam relatives. I am fat, scruffy and windswept.

I have about 2 hours spare after 18.00 tomorrow evening.

FFS help me!

I'm working with what you say you've got [itals].

Day 1
Leggings and nice comfy frock + Converse
Evening
Nice jeans + smart top + shoes

Day 2
Nice jeans [doesn't matter if they're on their second outing as you'll be sightseeing?] + casual top + Converse
Evening
Black frock/tights/shoes [Do you have all of these?]

Day 3
leggings + long top/tunic + converse

I think it's important to pack a new top for every day, unless you don't mind washing in a sink. Thus, you will need

  1. smart top (silky shirt?)
  2. casual top (t-shirt? Blouse?)
  3. long top/tunic My tip is to make sure everything fits well – far better to buy something a fraction too large than have waistbands or straps digging in, particularly if the climate will be warm. Try M&S for a one-stop shop; they have so many styles/options for various budgets, and the cut is usually good.

ALTERNATIVELY, buy a boyfriend-style (slightly oversized) jacket in black/navy plus three plain t-shirts in white, grey and ??blue?? and just wear a different one every day with your jeans/leggings. Jazzed up with different necklaces/shoes (assuming your evening shoes aren't heels).

Have fun.

Oh yes, and take a voluminous scarf in case it's chilly/you need an impromptu picnic rug/new skirt.

SageYourResoluteOracle · 23/04/2015 23:23

If you've got clothes, which it sounds as if you have, then I'd spend the 2 hours tomorrow evening getting a wash and blow-dry at the hairdresser with trim if needed. I'd also see if I could get my eye brows done. Makes such a difference to how polished I feel.

editthis. I love you Flowers

Haven't you got a large Saunsburys near you? They'll be open at 6.

BitOutOfPractice · 24/04/2015 08:12

Well that was a frustrating read!!

DrEllieSattler · 24/04/2015 08:48

Good lord stop panicking woman.

You're going away for a weekend with people who KNOW YOU. Why would you want to magically transform yourself into someone else for 3 poxy days when you're the person invited?

I second hair and eyebrows but would like to also recommend gin.

Chill out.

weaselwords · 24/04/2015 08:56

Buy massive singlasses at airport for instant glamour hit. Also means you can hide behind them

hobNong · 24/04/2015 08:57

BitOutOfPractice wasn't it just! I don't know why I came back to it this morning. It's like I want to punish myself.

Also, everything that DrEllieSattler said.

weaselwords · 24/04/2015 08:57

singlasses? Where is autocorrect when I need it?

Zorro123 · 24/04/2015 19:21

Next.co.uk deliver next day and do bigger sizes. Get yourself to Monsoon for smart dress and cardigan in this seasons colours. Clarks have some pretty ballet pumps that look elegant but comfortable. If you're not on a budget Sahara clothes are fab for the bigger lady and perfect clothes to hide nasty bits! And evening wear I'd invest in a Ghost dress (limited selection available at John Lewis). Buy some new Converse and ditch the crocs ??

Love message from editthis

Zorro123 · 24/04/2015 19:35

Ps. Other stories.co.uk (shop on Regent St) have some gorgeous cut cotton oversize shirts;

Have a lovely time

aintnothinbutagstring · 24/04/2015 19:50
  1. Ballet pumps
  2. Scarf or two, nothing too frou frou
  3. Chinos or cigarette trousers, good alternative to jeans and sehr European.
  4. A few plain tees in safe colours, black, camel, navy, white.

Come on op, you can do this!

Bakeoffcake · 24/04/2015 19:53

How did the shopping go OP?

HookedOnHooking · 24/04/2015 20:01

Shipping didn't happen as I got stuck in bastard traffic. I do have gin though.

Sorry to bore you all. How exciting your lives must be. How envious I am.

When are you travelling? Get yourself over to your nearest large supermarket or retail park. They are open until late or just wear what everyone suggested above & buy glam stuff over there.

HookedOnHooking · 24/04/2015 20:23

5am. Tomorrow. Nearest retail park 20 miles away. Gin is a better option at the mo. Might just 'forget' my bag and purchase stylush clothes when I get there.

The airport will have shops. Where are you flying from?

Alternatively just use a combination of wit and intelligence to dazzle people. They won't notice what you are wearing if you are witty and fun. One of my best friends has no style whatsoever but she is massively fun and i would forgive her anything.

whathavewedonenow99 · 24/04/2015 20:47

Actually, Hooked, I've quite enjoyed this thread especially the advice from editthis. I am so boring I've copied her list!

editthis · 24/04/2015 21:00

Oh, crikey. Blush If you saw me, you might be furtively crumpling said list behind your back...

hobNong · 25/04/2015 00:26

That's what I do. I dazzle.
