AIBU?

To be really excited that a woman is having a baby. Again. I mean, no one else has ever had a baby, have they?

And it's going to be on the TELLY! And in the papers. And all over Twitter. We've got three weeks of this.

I'm not from the UK, but I think instead of inheriting a position in the HOL, now you get appointed. From a select pool of golfing buddies? sarcasm Not sure that there's a lot of diversity or merit in the selection, but happy to be corrected if I've got it wrong.

Personally I feel sorry for Catherine and hope the media are kind to her... and that more importantly she can be kind to herself. Can't imagine how much more difficult all that guilt and anxiety will be with the whole world watching her every move.

If you don't find it interesting, why post a thread about it?? Odd duck.

I had no idea she was due soon, so YABU for reminding us! TBH, I can't say I have strong feelings one way or another. If you're really interested in the royal family, you'll want to hear all the details. If you're not, you'll zone it out, just as you do with all other news items that you don't care much about.

Just as I had to do with the bloody Jeremy Clarkson debacle which seemed to last the length of an elephant's pregnancy.

YANBU
I just don't understand why a country that supposedly believes in Equality has a royal family. It is ridiculous. It is so obviously WRONG!! Outdated. Don't get me started.....

If I was her, I'd be glad that there was so much election crap going on... Takes people's attention away from the impending birth.

I'm not a royalist, but a new baby is always something to be happy about, and anything that keeps Nigel Farage's gurning mug off my telly pleases me.

Yes it really is rather "woman of childbearing age has baby!!!!!"

Though a colleague of mine is due in the next couple of weeks and she is worried about the baby's name, because her son George was born a couple of months before the prince George. So even though her son is older people think she named him after the prince because he is of a similar age. She doesn't mind this so much but is worried about the same happening with this baby as she reckons having two with the same names as royal babies would be v embarrassing!

I knew a woman in the mid-80s who had two young boys called William and Harry - both were born a year before Prince William and Prince Harry, but the 'copycat' comments used to really piss her off!!

On BBC News they have just been outside the hospital where people dressed in Union Jacks are camped outside. That is just not normal behaviour.

It makes me quite suck that there are reports on sky news/bbc about children drowning in the Mediterranean alongside all this waiting outside the hospital bollocks

Really throws in to sharp relief how much more "important" some children are. Very sad

Surely hapshawl your friend just needs to give her DC a non-traditional name like Lacie-Mai or Jayden to avoid that problem? That's my plan anyway.

Oh the Catherine thing, she was called Kate wasn't she? But now she is a 'royal' it is Catherine. I have given up on any enlightment in my lifetime however.

Totally agree with the sickening contrast with those desperate migrant children.

I can sort of understand setting up camp for royal wedding as there's possibly going to be something to see but waiting for the baby? That is bonkers.

I bet they don't wait outside the hospital in tents when their own relations have babies....

Confused

Apparently she was always called Catherine, its just too long for the Papers (especially headlines) so they shortened it to Kate. I'm sure if I was in the tabloid's they'd shorten my name too (some people I know in RL do - which annoys me), and I've always used my full name since I was 14.

This

I had forgotten, but admit that I am mildly interested. It doesn't mean that I don't care about the horrible events in the Med.

I kinda feel sorry for her Blush a little tiny bit
I spent the last few weeks of my pregnancies wearing pajamas and huge pants and I had a face like this Envy I only talked to anyone that would buy me cake. She cant really do any of that. The whole world is scrutinizing her every move.
