Very trivial discussion (so I know I am being unreasonable already Grin ), but I am reading a thread about nasty celebs from 2008 (google brought me there) and really enjoying the gossip... AIBU to ask who the nicest and vilest celebs are who you have met in real life?

rugbychick · 19/04/2015 20:30

I second Tony Hadley. I've met him on numerous occasions and has always been lovely

Dieu · 19/04/2015 20:33

Has anyone met James Corden? I never have but have an intense, and I daresay irrational, dislike of him. This is unlike me, so maybe someone can put it to rest!
I was in mourning when I heard that gay Sean in Coronation Street is a knob Sad

Welshwabbit · 19/04/2015 20:33

I have met Gordon Brown, Benedict Cumberbatch and Julie Burchill. All very pleasant - yes, even La Burchill. I was at the same garden party as Melanie Phillips once and she stood around looking massively pissed off all evening (despite the free champers) which made me laugh as that is exactly how she comes across on TV. Joanna Lumley used to live around the corner from me and I never met her personally but I saw her in Sainsbury's a few times, once taking time to chat to a man who had congratulated her on her work with the Gurkhas. I literally bumped into Kate Moss once at a Marianne Faithfull gig and she was very nice about it. I also once saw her eat a large steak in a restaurant in Primrose Hill.

My SiL met Anthony Head in a restaurant on her birthday - he was lovely and signed all the Buffy stuff she'd just bought.

Oh and someone mentioned Judge Rind er up thread - I have known him for 15 years and he is fabulous.

So, er, turns out I have no bad celeb experiences.

Meloria · 19/04/2015 20:33

Matthew Bellamy of Muse and Jimmy Carr are both at the top of my rudest people ever list.

I've never spoken to him, but have been in close proximity to Oliver Proudlock several times and he's always lovely to everyone.

Kelly Brook spends her life 'tipping off' the paps and sometimes even arrives at the scene in the same cab. Monumentally rude and very small and pale in real life. Her mum is very good looking and her boyfriend at the time, Thom Evans, looked so amazing you could notice him a mile off. He had an odd glow of perfection I've never seen before or since.

Cavort · 19/04/2015 20:33

The only celeb I've ever met properly to have a conversation with is Robbie Williams. He was completely normal, down to earth and very good company.

ovaryhill · 19/04/2015 20:34

Forgot to mention, Slash signed my boobs for me after our encounter,I was having a fabulous mid life crisis at the time and had turned into a middle aged groupie! I regret nothing. ......

janesaysl · 19/04/2015 20:34

Ray Davies was a total sweetheart, so friendly and happy to chat/sign autographs/pose for pics. Laughed along at my friends jokes happily Smile

BitOutOfPractice · 19/04/2015 20:35

God I LOVE these threads!

Austin Healey is an arrogant twat. Really rude

I wanted to run away with Kris Akabussi when I met him. Just lovely and friendly and really professional

frankie80 · 19/04/2015 20:36

My family have met several royals and politicians through work.

DF tells me that Prince Charles and Princess Anne are both really nice. Charles in particular still sends us xmas cards.

I met the queen when I was about 5. I handed her some daisies I had picked and she told me they were lovely and thank you!

Politicians - my sister served Bill Clinton and says he's really nice and friendly. Loved a good chat.

Dad has met Gordon Brown (really nice guy apparently). I've met Sarah Brown (she's so lovely!). Dad and DH have both met Salmond and Sturgeon (horrible people). Dad met John Major who is an 'idiot'.

Sister served Robbie Williams who is quite shy apparently and the late, great, Michael Jackson who was 'wierd'.

Gazza (footballer) is really nice and funny, although this was about 20 years ago we last met him.

Lorraine Kelly is really nice. So are John Barrowman and Pam St Clement (Pat butcher).

Michael Stipe (REM) - DH says he's a nice guy

Can't think of any more at the mo'

Justinefrischmann · 19/04/2015 20:36

Some more, via others:
Brad and Angelina: he is very nice, she is rude and looks 'like a crack whore'
Hugh Dennis: lovely, clever and funny
Damon Hill: friendly

frankie80 · 19/04/2015 20:36

Oh DBIL has met the top gear guys and (probably cos he's car obsessed) thought they were awesome

BitOutOfPractice · 19/04/2015 20:37

And I have never ever EVER heard anyone say a bad word about David Beckham

A friend was at the same event as him - it was at his DD's pre-school and he was there with VB. A few people went up for pictures. He turned them away but did so with utter charm explaining that he was here for his DD but he's be happy to talk to them later and was very smily and kind

SuisseRomandeMaman · 19/04/2015 20:38

Sylvester Stallone - wants you to know he is famous, doesn't act 'normal' at all but is actually very nice indeed. DH spent an afternoon working out with him as DH loves body building and bumped into Sylvester and they got chatting about working out and hey presto DH had a new best friend and i had to spend an afternoon of our holiday shopping by myself whilst DH worked out with his new BFF Sly.

Totally outed myself now, need a new name change as ALL our friends know this story!

Justinefrischmann · 19/04/2015 20:39

Girl at my school ran away from home and camped outside Noel Gallagher's house. He took her in for a cup of tea, talked through her family problems with her, then gave her £3k cash. He then went to a newspaper to try and get the story out and appeal to her to go home. He was properly awesome.

Koalafications · 19/04/2015 20:40

I've never spoken to him, but have been in close proximity to Oliver Proudlock several times and he's always lovely to everyone.

He is gorgeous, and now I know he is a nice person, too... [swoon]

kissedbyamoonbeammyarse · 19/04/2015 20:40

Need to defend Nick Nairn. DH has spent some time with him and said he was a nice, friendly guy. He also cooked when he didn't have to and now DH always gazes sadly at my mashed tatties Grin

Dieu · 19/04/2015 20:41

Paolo Nutini is a family friend (he's close friends with my younger cousin), and he's lovely and very down to earth ... if a bit scatty!

Livingtothefull · 19/04/2015 20:42

I haven't literally met them but another vote for the Beckhams from me…they do loads of unsung work for charity. A few years ago DH and I requested help from a charity to buy a mobility aid for our disabled DS & they contacted us directly to tell us they had bought it outright for him. I won't let anyone say a bad word about them.

Corygal · 19/04/2015 20:43

Jilly Cooper is even nicer and funnier than you could imagine. You could sell tickets. Her husband, Leo, who died last year, made me laugh so much once I burst into tears.

Matthew Vaughn the film director is appallingly shy, so that's probably why Mme Castafiore thought he was a twat. He can also be very funny.

Livingtothefull · 19/04/2015 20:45

Jimmy Savile on the other hand….he wasn't a celebrity, just scum.

WhiffleSqueak · 19/04/2015 20:45

I used to know Pete Doherty quite intimately.

I can honestly say he is the kindest, most charming and polite person you would ever care to meet.

his demons are well documented. maybe worse than the media could ever represent, because it's a kind of hell that most people, happily, can't imagine. but he remains still a shining light who believes passionately in love, people and poetry.

so sad. I remember him fondly.

Jacana · 19/04/2015 20:47

My absolute forever talented hero(ine) Victoria Wood was filming an epi of acorn antiques in my road. She threw her chocolate bar wrapper on the pavementShock why? Just....why ? Shock a rubbish bin had been placed by the catering van, so, again...why?

Geraldine James, the actress, was buying makeup in Harrods when I went in to ask advice. I was having chemo, my skin was drying up.. I wanted to wait until she had been served at the Clinique counter before I asked for help, but she insisted that I was served first. When she heard about my probs she took over and gave me tips of her own. Did Clinique out of £££s but I'm forever grateful for her help.

Was in a nightclub in Rome when Shirley bassey rolled in dead drunk, got offended by someone for something and smashed the place up, throwing glasses around and smashing them, etc. police were called.
