Very trivial discussion (so I know I am being unreasonable already Grin ), but I am reading a thread about nasty celebs from 2008 (google brought me there) and really enjoying the gossip... AIBU to ask who the nicest and vilest celebs are who you have met in real life?

I've heard that Mikey from Boyzone is LOVELY. I'm sure he'd have stood up for you had he been there. Ronan Keating SO deserved that punch, and good on your mum!

I was behind Dawn French in a bookstore once and she was unbelievably nasty. I was gutted, I thought she would be like the Vicar of Dibley.

what on earth can she be doing that is nasty in a bookshop Shock

Years ago, I was outside Nottingham Ice Rink with my friends waiting to go to a skating lesson. Torvill and Dean turned up in separate, matching cars. Everyone got very excited and were shouting hello, or look it's T&D. All very innocent, we were only about 11 or so. Jayne Torvill stormed past, scowling at everyone, with Christopher Dean scurrying behind her, ignoring us as well, but looking a bit shame facedSad

Madbengalmum · 21/04/2015 19:30

Christopher dean, very shy but nice, jane torvill not nice.

Jt and jc, a recently married man are both gay, in fact boyfriend of married jc is married to a supermodel.

SC is also gay, but wanted a baby
TC is bisexual and was turned down by jessica alba and went on to marry second choice katie h.

Cilla dreadful
Cliff dreadful
Bruce springsteen lovely

HalleLouja · 21/04/2015 19:36

Madbengalmum ok TC is obvious. The rest I have no clue. Unless JT has a Sexyback.

I am sitting listening to Connor Reeves now. My dd who is 3 is now a fan. Her mum might be too.

Yarp · 21/04/2015 19:36

Whitershadeofpale

Your story about Harry Hill is lovely. What a good bloke

RosesareSublime · 21/04/2015 19:40

BW who is he?

ArcheryAnnie · 21/04/2015 19:41

People! Sisters! Please stop it with the gay speculation! It's none of our business and may get this juicy thread deleted!

Tryingtokeepalidonit · 21/04/2015 19:44

Really enjoying this thread.
Dawn French was bullying a member of staff because the book she had ordered had not arrived after the three days she claimed she had been promised. This poor kid, seemed to be very young, was trying to say they always text you when the book is in and DF was incredibly belittling, enunciating every word and speaking very slowly. It was horrible, quite the worst behaviour I have ever seen in any shop.
My mother reminded me I was knocked off my bike when I was six by Michael Bentine, entirely my fault, and he was almost crying and followed the ambulance to hospital and waited until I was cleared with just a broken arm. He later sent flowers to my mum and a whole pound to me, a lot in the 1960's.

ArcheryAnnie · 21/04/2015 19:47

Oh, Trying, that takes me back. I used to love Michael Bentine's Potty Time, back in the jurassic era.

Tryingtokeepalidonit · 21/04/2015 19:47

Please don't ruin this thread with the gay comments on a thread titled 'nastiest celebrities' this implies there is something wrong with being gay, outrageous.

YouTheCat · 21/04/2015 19:50

I may have a Michael Bentine's Potty Time dvd. Grin

StupidBloodyKindle · 21/04/2015 19:53

Don't know sublime, guessing behind people in shops, the sleb is being judged on perceived attitude to staffConfused

gasp the forum you need is digital lie spy. Jeremy Renner and Simon Cowell are big fans. Wink

I am never sure what to make of Piers Morgan, he seems self-aware enough to know the whole sleb industry is bollocks and he had the lowest-key wedding going. But he is naughty...he did a reveal in his first book about Jonathan Ross writing an email to his missus about his love for Center Parcs Wink

David Baddiel ended up sitting between me and a teenager many years ago at a Richard Herring play at the Fringe festival. He was lovely to her when asked for an autograph. I was too shy and didn't want to hassle him but was impressed with how he dealt with it. He has also himself defended slebs, okay Russell brand, regarding how easy it is to judge until you realise they're a nice person in rl, but stewart lee was not as impressed as me by that.Grin

I once worked in a clothes shop in Manchester and was told by a colleague we could not ever speak to or show that we recognised Audrey from coro, as she would not appreciate it Confused

Have to say though, that like a Simon Armitage poem I can't quite recall, we are all a bit of good and a bit of bad on our balance sheet...I would hate to be judged by random encounters as one person might say Awesome, so friendly and funny. An hour and 3 kids later another would say Cowbag with active bitch face....

turdfairynomore · 21/04/2015 19:54

Christine Bleakely is lovely-and very skinny! Frank lampard is also lovely-at least when with her!
Eamonn Holmes and Ruth are great craic!
Eddie Irvine-ex F1 driver is taking up valuable space on the planet! I've known him since he was 4. In those days-and for a long time,he was always Edmund-never Eddie-and he was always hateful!
Michael Palin was so nice to me at a book signing many years ago. Very twinkly eyed and smiley. Shy-but made a real effort to be personable. When I tried to spell my name he said "I know that name. It's the name of a friend's ex girlfriend:in my opinion, he should have married her!"
Van Morrison-never met a soul with a kind word for him! He's as rough as a badger's arse!

FatherReboolaConundrum · 21/04/2015 19:59

When they were at university, my parents knew VS Naipaul who was apparently a truly awful human being. My mum once heard him at a party introducing his fiancee, later first wife, who was mum's friend, as 'a poor thing but mine own'.

Louise Mensch was an unbelievable attention-seeker at university and came across as not very bright. Not much seems to have changed since the early 90s.

Jane Hawking (1st wife of Stephen), who I guess is kind of a celeb now, is an absolutely lovely person, really sweet, as well as very clever.

Tryingtokeepalidonit · 21/04/2015 20:01

Poem by Simon Armitage, I have to say many, many years he was at a dinner party I attended and turned out to be a real baby bore. I was disappointed but it made him human, not nasty!

Koalafications · 21/04/2015 20:05

Oh honestly, who gives a fuck if someone is gay or not?! It's 2015 we are all adults. Whether someone is gay or straight shouldn't be relevant.

What is relevant and interesting is mums punching Ronan Keating, Anthony Head and his amazing train journeys to meet the masses and the desperate search to find someone who has had a positive experience with Princess Anne, Van Morrison or Cilla Black!

StupidBloodyKindle · 21/04/2015 20:05

Ah, being patronising to staff, there you go.
I hope I would pass the waitress or shop assistant test but can recall of at least two occasions where I have lost it and passers by would have proclaimed me a twunt.

Any gay speculation has to do with this being a sleb speculation thread and has feck all to do with personality ffs...plus the majority of slebs on a supposed nasty thread have been shown to be lovely, Harry hill, the Beckhams and Anthony Head in particular. It is the height of hypocrisy to be reading this thread, which is like a digital spy one, proclaim it to be 'juicy' then have a shit fit because highlighting slebs situation with the Hollywood closet remit is deemed a worse crime than slating a person off entirely for having a bad day. Get real.

StupidBloodyKindle · 21/04/2015 20:12

Being gay/straight/bi is irrelevant and often sexuality is fluid rather than a definition. What is relevant/interesting is that gay boy band members have to pretend to be straight and that straight heartthrobs have to pretend to be single, that straight actors grab straight, gay and transgender roles whilst gay and transgender actors struggle to play those roles let alone straight parts. Hence the Hollywood Narnia.

TheSpottedZebra · 21/04/2015 20:18

WhitershadeofpaleI was also on that other thread where HFW was mentioned, and I said (on that thread) that I also have a friend who had the same experience. There were 3 or 4 of us, weren't there?
He was dubbed Sleepy Wanker on the thread and he has been known as such in my house ever since.

squoosh · 21/04/2015 20:20

I too know someone who 'met' HFW and also heard from her of his fondness for.....that!

squoosh · 21/04/2015 20:22

Ronan Keating punching mum should have a public holiday named after her. There should be parades in her honour.

TheSpottedZebra · 21/04/2015 20:22

No, Koala - you've mixed up your princesses! Anne = good egg, Margaret = cowbag.
