I'm interested to see how this ends!

kali110 · 17/04/2015 02:35

They do not like questions......
I appear to have been banned from commenting.
Wasn't even rude Confused
They do not appear to like questions asking about the donations though Hmm

KoalaDownUnder · 17/04/2015 02:46

Yes, I bet they don't like questions! They've either spend or pocketed the money, that's why.

I truly can't believe they're getting away with this. Don't you have some name-and-shame doorstepping tv shows in the UK? They may not have done anything illegal, but it's certainly immoral and unethical.

If this was happening in Aus, I'd be all over it like a rash. It makes me really angry.

avoiretre · 17/04/2015 02:59

This has been a very well executed deception/fraud, further helped by the fact it's been committed across at least two jurisdictions. It's typical of the public that anything involving young attractive people (moderately so here!) and a baby or small child gets mugs throwing money at them, often because the press love running stories about such people. It's interesting that the press haven't run a story on the deception/fraud, maybe they don't want people to be cynical about future "idealistic" causes.

I hate the ambulance-chasing gutter-press too, but they're not going away any time soon so they may as well do something useful for once. There must be a paper in the UK that would be interested in following up such a worthy story? Hmm

I just can't stand seeing them get away with it! It diverts resources from actual charities who desperately need the money.

FrogletinaBallerina · 18/04/2015 08:09

I noticed last week after the donation, they said they'd post after the payment had processed. Surely it'll have processed by now?

legolegolego · 18/04/2015 08:50

I missed some of the last thread, have they said they've donated now?

KenDoddsDadsDog · 18/04/2015 09:43

Yes but not how much

fluffymouse · 18/04/2015 10:09

They claim to have donated, but refuse to declare the amount.

They will likely never post proof of their donation as it is in the region of £5, compared to the £20-30k that was raised.

scumbuster2 · 18/04/2015 10:42

Poor baby will one day read this and find out what his parents and godparents are really are!

fluffymouse · 18/04/2015 10:48

Even if he doesn't Google his name, you can bet that employers will. With a name as 'younique' as his (sounds like a cross between a duck and a well know hoover brand to me!) You can bet that this sordid story will follow him round, which is very sad.

legolegolego · 18/04/2015 11:39

Unbelievable

YoungGirlGrowingOld · 18/04/2015 13:48

I agree the whole thing seems dodgy as fuck, but I am not sure any of the people involved are clever enough for it to be a "well executed fraud" tbh. TD seems a long way from being a criminal mastermind, and the couple just seem gormless and naive.

I think they just seized the opportunity to get press attention and couldn't believe it when the cash started rolling in. It is morally repugnant though.

ihatelego · 18/04/2015 13:53

placemarking

londonrach · 18/04/2015 20:54

Fb page has been abandoned now with people getting cross. They got away with it!

fluffymouse · 18/04/2015 21:00

Still no confirmation of a donation..

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 19/04/2015 17:49

Place marking
I don't think it was planned but the situation happened, the money and also fame came along and they got greedy.
As well the donations they'll also have TV and press money

albertcamus · 19/04/2015 20:09

How much is paid by programmes like This Morning ?
Has the Daily Mail actually paid the for their 'story' ?

I hope not :(

notapizzaeater · 19/04/2015 20:12

They probably will have paid for the story and pictures

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 19/04/2015 20:15

A family member had a story in the Mail about 10 years ago and it was a few hundred quid then (they had the paper donate it to charity) I expect it's a bit more now.

Northernlurker · 19/04/2015 22:02

Awful people. That poor little baby Sad

MyArksNotReady · 20/04/2015 00:13

I just hope the baby has the money spent on him, to make up for his name being muddied. I hope the money was worth it for them.

fluffymouse · 20/04/2015 14:26

It seems like they have just abandoned the Facebook group. I'm surprised they haven't deleted it as it paints them in a really bad light.

Mischalively · 20/04/2015 20:37

Ok. Worst case scenario, the parents keep the money in view of extra costs needed long term for premature baby. I must say at this point that I utterly agree with general view of this thread. In that there was deception in the original "mission statement". That said, premie babies (of which I have first hand experience) require extra needs.
I suggest that the parents declare honestly and transparently the status quo. And frankly, defy anyone to not be able to understand their stance and case
