To ask dog walkers to be considerate

I have a garden to the side of house and people seem to think it is fine to allow their dogs to do their business in it, i asked one dog owner to not allow his dog on garden his response -but I'll clean it up, fine but why cant they clean it up off their own gardens or even clean up off pavement....why allow dog to go in someone elses garden in first place?

I wouldn't say I viewed dog shit as acceptable. I have said countless times that it is horrid and owners should clean up. I just don't think it is acceptable to vilify all dog owners because of one bad one as you did.

All that upset because of dog poo is terrible especially as it must also be the same when your toddler gets muddy boots or spillages and such.

I didn't liken dog poo to child abuse. You did

Did I? Confused

Reginafalangie · 15/04/2015 17:40

Such a nice way to end the thread sister You are a funny one.

Yes Sirch you did or at least you implied I was, infact you and sister have attempted to imply I have said a lot of things I haven't. I have heard of the PO but never met one and here I am lucky me with 2 on a thread.

It was very clear Sirch that you were trying hard to make out I put dog poo in the same category as child abuse but it is clear for all who care to look that I didn't. All you succeeded in doing was making yourself look a bit of a numpty.

Anyway I am off to walk my dogs. As much as some of you may hate that I am doing it anyway cos I am such a rebel.

KatieKaye · 15/04/2015 18:13

The man was totally unreasonable to let his dog crap there once you'd explained it was your garden.
However, most housing estates have many small grassy areas that are communal and it is acceptable for anyone living there to use them. And the expense of upkeep falls to all the owners of these so-called amenity areas or to the council if they have taken over responsibility. In my short street there are four such areas and each one is slap bang next to a house.

No excuse for people not picking up after their dog but it's not reasonable to suggest dogs should only ever poo on the pavement or on the guter got the simple reason that loads will refuse to do so. Including mine, who is always on a short lead which has a roll of poo bags clipped onto it.

KatieKaye · 15/04/2015 18:16

This thread is reminding me of the one where the OP thought riders should pick up horse shit. Around here , when it is common riding season us ordinary folk are delighted to do just that and then stick it in our gardens where it goes by the name of manure. It's still just shit though at the end of the day.

SirChenjin · 15/04/2015 18:34

Nope, you're wrong Regina - I didn't imply, suggest or otherwise. In fact, the only time dog poo and child abuse was linked was when you said to me "not that I liken dog poo to child abuse before you try and say that I do". You can try to pretend otherwise, but you're still factually incorrect.

nocoolnamesleft · 15/04/2015 20:42

Odd, I thought grassy communal areas were for people. Children playing. I should have realised that they're just dog crapperies.

KatieKaye · 15/04/2015 20:51

Three of the areas in my street are approx ten foot square, so not much space to do anything.
The third is about 20 foot by 30 foot, with three ornamental trees. Well, there were three, but children pulled the branches off one and eventually managed to kill it. Not here say, I saw some of them.
And in the summer teens like to sit there and get pissed and leave their dans and bottles behind.

At least the vast majority of dog owners pick up the dog crap there!

And if it's an area owned by the whole estate, then everyone there is entitled to use it. Which includes the dog owners.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 15/04/2015 21:21

I wouldn't let my dogs do their business on grass that I knew people were going to sit or play on.

BMW6 · 15/04/2015 21:22

Look........shit happens.....

KatieKaye · 15/04/2015 21:43

TBH I don't much care if my dog shits on a place where underage drinkers congregate. He shits, I pick it up.

unlike the teens who leave their empty cans and broken bottles all over the place.

And it's not like they are sitting naked on the grass.

Plus, this is Scotland. It rains a lot. Which washes the shit away.

Oh, and the council puts down toxic stuff on the edges of all the pavements that kills weeds and stuff too, which is probably a lot more harmful than a dog turd that rested on the grass for about 30 seconds.

QuinionsRainbow · 16/04/2015 11:21

Although dog walkers around here seem to be reasonably good at using poo bags, there is a sizeable minority who seem to think it clever to then hang the filled bag in the nearest hedge!

SirChenjin · 16/04/2015 11:35

I've never understood that - genuinely. Anyone know the reason? Confused

tabulahrasa · 16/04/2015 12:10

Some will be people coming back the same way who can't be bothered carrying it...most are just gits who pick up after their dog because someone is there and then just dump the bag.

SirChenjin · 16/04/2015 12:21

But why go to the bother of actually tying it to a tree? Why not just throw it away? In the name of the wee man - why??!! Confused Grin

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 16/04/2015 12:27

The only reason I can think of, to put the bag in a tree or on a fence, is if there isn't a poo bin nearby, and you don't want to carry it round with you.

I double bag the poo, and put it in my coat pocket, for disposal when we pass the bin. That is probably horribly skanky.

SirChenjin · 16/04/2015 12:31

That would make sense - but these tree poo decorations often stay there for weeks and/or get added to. You would think that at some point the owner would think "bugger, forgot to untie the tree decoration" and go back for it.
