Short people problems!

Why oh why do almost every clothes shop put short length jeans on the top shelf/hangers? Where's the sense in that?! Confused

What other short people problems really annoy you?

Oh this frustrates me too! I used to work in a shop which displayed its shoes with the size threes at the top (really high up) and down to size nines on the bottom. When I pointed out that size three wearers are usually shorter and size nine wearers usually taller they did switch them round.

FenellaFellorick · 14/04/2015 10:23

I can't reach the bottom of a big trolley. That's fairly embarrassing when I'm having to half chuck myself in there at the checkout to reach that tube of toothpaste that's lurking in the trolley, laughing at me Grin

It's fun being a fat short woman! By the time you're in my size clothing, clothes makers seem to think you're 18 feet tall Grin

Not being able to reach stuff is a pain. I'm 41. I shouldn't be standing on tiptoes in the supermarket! They should keep a little step in each aisle, imo. I use one of those aerobic steps in the kitchen to reach stuff. Which is good because I don't use it for aerobics. They should have those in the supermarket. It's no fun trying to jump for the spray starch!

I'm too short for the swimming pool at baby swimming. I do it on tiptoes.

I'm too short for gigs. This means I either get there ridiculously early and get squished or I see feck all.

DH is 6' 2". He complains when I don't put the bowls away. This requires me to get the step ladders out and he wonders why I leave them for him.

ItsADinosaur · 14/04/2015 10:32

Not bring able to reach tall cupboards or high shelves.

Not being able to find clothes that fit.

VenusRising · 14/04/2015 10:35

I have to ask other shoppers to reach something for me all the time, and I'm not exceptionally short!

When grocery packing, I also can't reach the bags over the width of the pack up space, so always have to get bags from the check out behind me!

I think I must have tiny arms like a TRex.

Hilariously positioned peep holes in doors. Usually in hotels. They're too bloody high!

I love staring at things on the top shelf at supermarkets wondering if I can reach them. Waiting until the aisle is clear then making my attempt. Feeling like an idiot when I can't reach then waiting an age for someone to come down the aisle to help me.

Always having the seatbelt rubbing my neck.

Currently having to use a ladle to open my kitchen window. I can't reach over the counter to the handles normally but at 34 week pregnant it's doubly hard. I need a longer ladle.

MissMuesli · 14/04/2015 10:51

I use a potato masher to close my windows! Also can't reach the Hugh shelves. We also have a cinema that's old fashioned and on one level so I need to sit near the front or I can't see but my OH is 6 foot which causes problems for everyone else!

AuntieDee · 14/04/2015 10:54

Being told by my riding instructor to shorten my reins - I can't, my arms aren't long enough!!

Short with big boobs - try getting out of the car without flashing someone, turning the wipers on or bibbing the horn!

AuntieDee · 14/04/2015 10:54

By flashing I mean the lights not my morags...

AuntieDee · 14/04/2015 10:55

Climbing the shelves in a supermarket if there is no tall person to help :(

dragdownthemoon · 14/04/2015 10:58

Haha missmuesli I use the potato masher to close my kitchen window Grin

Making a mess washing up because you've pretty much got your boobs resting in the washing up bowl.

Pet hates are being 5'1 on the train and Tube. People walk past when I'm sitting and bash me on the head with their bag or arse. People slinging their bag on while I'm behind them or putting their coat on, both of which nearly punch me in the face. People using my head as an elbow or newspaper rest on the Tube Hmm

And struggling to buy coats and jackets. Its a bloody nightmare. I'm not skinny, I'm just short with small shoulders. My winter coat this year is a kids age 11-12!!

IneedAdinosaurNickname · 14/04/2015 10:59

*Fenella, are you me? I hate unpacking the trolley as I know I look like a prat trying to reach the bottom!!!

Thurlow · 14/04/2015 11:00

Oh yes, Derek, swinging legs. Trying to be adult and elegant and all that crap, but knowing your legs are swinging like a 5 year olds!

I once had to be helped down off a bar stool by a friend in a very busy, very cool bar because once I'd got up there was absolutely no way I could get down again Blush

Blarblarblar · 14/04/2015 11:01

Climbing the shelves is not dignified. Doing a kinda run hop leap up to grab things is not great in shops.
Having pre teen kids enjoy standing next to you so they can feel tall "look I'm as big as you".

RachelWatts · 14/04/2015 11:01

Trying to carry my 5 year old if he's fallen asleep in the car is interesting. His legs are too long and I almost trip over him!

Fudgeface123 · 14/04/2015 11:04

I also use a potato masher to close my windows after DP has opened them Grin

Also agree about the big shopping trolleys.

The toilets at work have ridiculously deep counter tops so I have to lean on them to wash my hands, which always results in my top getting piss wet through. The cupboards in the kitchen are sited very high up, I cannot reach the mugs so have to wait until someone goes to the kitchen so I can ask them to get one down.

I have to have my car seat positioned as far forward as it will go which then means I'm almost touching the steering wheel with my baps. I then have to adjust the seat back so I can lean back and have my arms straightish so from the outside it looks like I'm almost lying down.

Dr0pThePirate · 14/04/2015 11:05

It's pretty hard looking good when you're short and pregnant too. My torso is short so I'm pregnant "all over" IYSWIM. Tall women still look elegant even at 40 weeks but I look like a bloody Twirlywoo!

At first my boobs got massive then when the bump caught up it sort of made everything look in proportion except for my head which now looks tiny! Honestly I look like a pea balancing on a orange! It's very undignified Sad

NoelHeadbands · 14/04/2015 11:05

Reverse parking everywhere using my mirrors, because if reversing into the flow of traffic I might as well have my eyes shut Blush

TheWhiteRoad · 14/04/2015 11:05

Oh god bar stools! Eyeing them up and just knowing you're going to have a problem. Having to clamber up in a very in undignified fashion and then fall off on your way down.

BrianButterfield · 14/04/2015 11:05

Spending your whole, life having stuff fall on your head from high shelves!

And I don't know about you, but once I do start swinging my legs its vaguely pleasant so I keep going!
