If i allowed it, my DD would plug herself into her kindle all day and watch what sounds like a lunatic, wittering and laughing away to himself, describing what he has built or scenes in minecraft.

It SOUNDS like an adult man, in fact it sort of sounds like a cross between Angus Deyton, jimmy carr and basil faulty.

Is this person actually brainwashing children?

They are definitely less annoying than Stampy.

Stampy is a grown man. He has the most annoying voice and laugh i have ever encountered but he brings endless joy to my DS so i can just about tolerate him.
He was on BBC breakfast a few months back and seemed nice enough.

My daughter used to be obsessed with him. Not so much now as she has got a bit bored with Minecraft (she's 7).

As far I can see he seems like a nice enough lad, gets a bit of stick because he is very loud and quite chil like.

Remember though he probably makes a very nice income from all the videos he does, look at twiddiepie (another one kids are obsessed with) he makes £4million a year from his videos, so stampy must be making a couple hundred thousand.

He has found a format that sells.

Stampy is a lovely sensible young man. He's found a great niche for himself and he does what he does, Minecraft (in particular) videos for kids really, really well. He is either planning to or has actually moved to LA to make kids' movies.

If you spend a few minutes watching other Youtube Minecrafters you will see he's very clever; most of the others are boring, or inappropriate, or nasty. He builds clever things that inspire kids to try out the creative side of Minecraft.

I'm sure on the money he gets, he can afford help

The man likes gaming and manages to make money out of it by tapping into what kids like that's all. At some point he must have realised that having a clean act (unlike Syndicate who can get a bit mouthy) enables him to reach a wider audience and be at least tolerated by parents

Ehh?? What are you on about OP. My DH sounds similar (perhaps not quite as enthusiastic...) when he plays computer games.

He's some kind of cross between a young bloke having the time of his life playing games and a children's TV presenter. I'm sure he does ham it up a bit because he knows his main audience IS children and that's what makes him so successful.

I was at Insomnia last weekend (ALL weekend!) and finally I think I understand my DCs obsession with the whole YouTube gaming/streaming thing! I even met Stampys sister NettyPlays as well as Team Mianite including Syndicate my head is now full of this shit I hope you are all suitably impressed

TBF - he is famous worldwide. I hate to imagine how many kids message him everyday.

My twin sons (9) LOVE Stampy and co.
I am very wary of 'strangers' online after a friends young girl was 'groomed' (he tried and failed as she was savvy enough to speak to her Mum). But I have watched a few of the youtube videos and have decided Stampy is nothing to worry about, no brainwashing and no grooming etc.
Just a lad who enjoys playing Minecraft and is spreading that joy.
My boys only watch use the computer in the same room as me anyway, and I can see/hear/semi-supervise what's going on.
If you have no interest in Minecraft the videos are very annoying as Stampy is at times very loud and seems excitable. But I think he is genuine enough personally.

My boys have watched other Minecraft user videos and always go back to Stampy.
One of my boys was horrified at the amount of swearing in one video and turned it off exclaiming indignantly 'Well, Stampy doesn't talk like that!'

He must drink alot of coffee, thats all i can say! Glad other people have heard of him.

I'm surprised about the 'fucking' making it into the final video. He's pretty careful. I read an interview where he said that when he realised who his do graphic were (lots of devoted small people, with anxious parents keeping a watchful ear,) he became very consciously careful with his commentary.
