To fancy Ser Jorah from Game of Thrones?

Actually maybe this is one for the weird crushes thread in Chat.

After much persuasion from friends I recently started watching GoT from the start and have really got into it. All of my female friends have been harping on about bloody Jon Snow and Robb Stark but quite frankly as conventionally handsome as they are they do very little for me I'm afraid. There is however something very alluring about Jorah, his rugged handsomeness and unfailing devotion to Daenerys.

It's the same actor who played one of Lady Mary's many suitors in an early series of Downton isn't it? I didn't fancy him in that.

Am I weird?

Why don't they kill Dany off? Great characters suffer horrible deaths while this one woman bore show survives.

Ser Jorah is just so gallant. There's something about the way he stands when he's watching over Khaleesi...valiant and fearless.

I'm warming to Jamie. I want he and Brienne to end up together.

Tormund is just not as funny in the telly as he is in the books. Losing his obsession has emasculated his character. However my kids have plenty of fun shouting 'oooh me member' every time he appears.

Not sure about the new daario tbh...in the books he is very very handsome - the previous daario was a better casting choice I think.

Yes, I think Daenerys and Joffrey are about 13 in the book, and Tommen is about 8, but they had to age up for the series one raise it would just be all sorts of wrong!

I really want Daenerys to go all batshit crazy Targeryen and just kill everyone before meeting her own end.

Yes, i love her too and in the books it was always her bit I wanted to get back to (particularly when Khal Drogo was in the picture), but I just think it would be great for her to just lose the plot completely like her dad (uncle? Grandad?)

Ken, I think Dany is a slow burning nutjob, like Viserys and their dad, the Mad King. She does seem to be going mad, to me, and is increasingly unlikeable. My son who is a real GoT obsessive, tells me he read George Martin now says he wishes he hadn't written that character, and the whole slavery thing was a mistake. I dunno if that's true, but she does seem to be going the way of creepy Viserys, to me, so is less likeable than she was in Series 1. If you watch it back, over the series, I think you can see the trajectory, there?

I love Varys, too, Aldi! I hope he wins the Game of Thrones in the end!

I agree that Daenerys is unlikeable and dull. I found her chapters the hardest to read in the book and I think she is in danger of crossing the line into madness like her father. All the "blood of the/mother of dragons reminds me of Viserys (the actor who plays him is pretty hot).

Robb Stark is gorgeous but a bit of an arsehole.

New Daario is hot but I preferred old Daario as he looked a bit more unusual (If I remember rightly book Daario has blue hair) and stood out a bit more. The new one looks like every other bloke in the series.

YANBU! Iain Glen has always been rather lovely - and a good actor.

Dany is definitely going down the 'Targaryen madness' route IMO. I don't think she'll ever sit on the Iron Throne tbh. I'd actually quite like to see Stannis there. He's the only one in the running at the moment who would be capable of ruling the Seven Kingdoms. As long as he ditches Melissandre and her loopy ways of course.

Ah yes, and Stannis - have always liked Stephen Dillane too.
Was Charles Dance ever naked in the excellent Jewel in the Crown?

He definitely got his shirt off in Jewel in the Crown, polyhymnia...can't remember whether or not he went the full monty though.

Can't believe two of you prefer the old Daario. I feared the casting people had gone mad when he turned up. He looked more like a weird, limp lannister cousin.

I am a fan of Jon Snow the chcharacter, also the actor when he's posing in magazines but don't fancy him in the show.
Glad I'm not the only one who fancies Charles Dance.
Did enjoy Oberyn shame we won't get to keep seeing him.
I hate Dany in the books. She was my favourite character watching series one, but hated her story afterwards. She's much better on the show than in the books though.
