8 stones is pretty tiny! I'm the same height and 8.10, I'm a size 8/10.

ThursdayLast · 05/04/2015 17:23

How is this an AIBU?

Is it achievable for you? Has someone told it is or isn't reasonable?

I wouldn't be able to achieve 8 stone at 5' 3". Nor would I want to.

shewept · 05/04/2015 17:24

Its up to you surely. No one can say you are being unreasonable to want to be a certain weight.

Shetland · 05/04/2015 17:25

I'm usually about that and will be aiming for it again post-baby.

Totally depends on your build IMO. It's about right for me.

kinkyfuckery · 05/04/2015 17:25

It's lower than the 'ideal weight range' for a female of 5ft 4

bakingtins · 05/04/2015 17:25

Have you ever been 8 stone? I'm an inch shorter and my 'happy weight' is 9 stone, which puts me in the middle of the healthy BMI range. The healthy BMI for that height is between about 8 and 10 stone. 3 stone is quite a lot to lose, why not set an interim target of getting BMI into the healthy range then see how you feel.

Skyfullofstars70 · 05/04/2015 17:26

Sorry I meant to say be September.

Why do you think anyone cares?

EhricLovesTheBhrothers · 05/04/2015 17:27

Are you likely to be able to maintain it? I would never be able to so I wouldn't bother trying.

HermioneDanger · 05/04/2015 17:30

Sounds quite low - BMI 19.2. My dietitian told me that anything under 20 is considered underweight for anyone other than people from Asian populations, and I've been told by several health professionals that they expect women to stop menstruating below BMI 20. Not that it happened for me until I got below 18.

That said, weight is a bit misleading - you only need to read the "how much do you weigh if you're X tall and size Y" threads to see how varied they can be for people depending on frame, muscle etc. Maybe aim for a clothes size instead?

MajesticWhine · 05/04/2015 17:32

It sounds quite ambitious. Why not aim to lose a stone and then see how you feel.

shewept · 05/04/2015 17:36

It would mean losing about 2.5lb per week, every week. Weight loss slows down the closer you get to your goal. Do you think you could do it every week?

TokenGinger · 05/04/2015 17:39

It'll take you below your healthy weight range. My healthy weight range at 5ft3 is 8st1 to 10st1 (according to weight watchers). But if you feel comfortable there, then that's fine. I currently weight 10st5 but am the same size clothes as when I was 9st7 because I exercise a lot and have gained a lot of weight. My "healthy weight range" tells me I am now overweight, but I'm a size 10. I think if you feel happy and healthy, it's all good

Blueskybrightstar · 05/04/2015 17:41

Well, I put on 3 stone(to 11 stone 4) when pregnant and went back to8 stone (my original weight) quite a few months afterwards. So it isn't BU but only if that weight suits your height and don't put pressure on yourself to do it quickly. It could take around a 8 months to a year to lose it comfortably.

NickNackNooToYou · 05/04/2015 17:43

It does sound low but why not aim for 10 stone first, then 9, then 8 if you feel you need to lose more?

CalleighDoodle · 05/04/2015 17:43

The only reason you couldnt do it is by your own actions.

emms1981 · 05/04/2015 17:44

I'm 5 foot and I am aiming for 8 and a half stone. I have a lot of belly fat and love handles so I can see where I need to lose it.

Alisvolatpropiis · 05/04/2015 17:46

It'll be the lower end of healthy on the bmi scale for your height. So no, not unreasonable an aim.

You'd probably need to see the process of getting there a lifestyle change which is permanent rather than has an end if you want to achieve it in the timeframe you've given yourself and maintain it afterwards.

Good luck!

Feckeggblue · 05/04/2015 17:47

Sounds fine but it's a huge amount of weight to lose so why not take it a bit at a time ?

TokenGinger · 05/04/2015 17:47

Gained a lot of muscle, that should say

ouryve · 05/04/2015 17:48

It's pretty low for your height, so yabu

WashingUpFairy · 05/04/2015 17:48

I'm 5 ft 1 and weigh 9 st 4. I feel fantastic. Healthy, curvy and happy. I'm not sure picking a number is the best way to try to achieve a weight. 8 st is tiny.

TokenGinger · 05/04/2015 17:49

Ahhh! By September. 3 stones in 5 months is over ambitious IMO. I lost 3 stones in 9 months but I really struggled with the last stone. And in fact, 9lb of the last stone was only due to a break up.

Pepperpot99 · 05/04/2015 17:50

YANBU. I am 5 foot 2 and overwight at 8'10. I was underweight at 7 stone but just right at 8.
