to think a 17 year old boy doing an Easter egg hunt is a little bit weird?

I know the boy, he does not have SN.

There are photos of him on FB doing an Easter egg hunt this morning. Seems a little weird to me ... and like he should have grown out of this by now...

OP posts:
GlitzAndGigglesx · 05/04/2015 17:01

Or he was joining in for a bit of a laugh?

cashewnutty · 05/04/2015 17:01

If i had set one up my DD's (age 17 and 22 years) would have done it like a shot and loved it! You don't grow out of hunting for chocolate.

LaurieFairyCake · 05/04/2015 17:01

I think you sound a bit snarky but I'm sure you don't mean to come across like that

My 17 year old did one today with my 3 year old niece. Fairly sure she posted it on facebook as she's 17.

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 05/04/2015 17:03

Is there a back story to this? Because - so what?

I still go on the zip swing in the playground and I'm 41.

Hakluyt · 05/04/2015 17:03

My 14 and 19 years olds did one. Because it's fun. Is fun an alien concept to you, OP?

FelineLou · 05/04/2015 17:03

I set one up for my granddaughters, 21 and 19 and their Mum (%") complained because she din't get many.
It was fun though!

DramaAlpaca · 05/04/2015 17:04

My 17 year old would happily do this if he was hanging out with his gang of younger cousins. His older brothers would probably join in too. They'd have a great time.

TheReluctantCountess · 05/04/2015 17:05

I can see situations where it would be weird. If he was helping younger kids, that's fine. If he's doing for a bit of a light hearted laugh, that's fine. But I can imagine it being odd.

YouTheCat · 05/04/2015 17:05

Oh... you'll be one of those people who thinks anyone over a certain age shouldn't play computer games or have any fun at all.

We should all sit at home doing our taxes and watching the news, shouldn't we?

So what he's 17? He was enjoying himself and doing no harm to any one.

Iloveonionchutney · 05/04/2015 17:05

I'm 34 and would love to do one!

Bowlersarm · 05/04/2015 17:06

My 19 year old would be happy to do one, given the chance.

scrivette · 05/04/2015 17:06

I think I enjoyed the one my parents did for DS as much as DS did. I don't think it's strange at all (but then my parents also give me a stocking from Father Christmas)

MrsTerryPratchett · 05/04/2015 17:07

I hate the push for everyone to grow up quickly. 8 year olds are on Call of Duty but we don't like a 17 yo on an Easter egg hunt.

I want a trampoline!

reallybadidea · 05/04/2015 17:07

Not as weird as caring enough to start a thread on it. You need to get out more.

mrsmeerkat · 05/04/2015 17:07

I'm 36 and love these types of things, when I was at uni my flat mates were early twenties and most had cartoon charachter type bedding..

It's a laugh...

LineRunner · 05/04/2015 17:07

My DP's16 year old daughter said this morning how much she would love to do an Easter treasure hunt thingy. I thought it was sweet she wanted to do it.

I might do one for her tomorrow.

FanFuckingTastic · 05/04/2015 17:08

We still occasionally do it for adult family, we used to decorate eggs and then go for a walk to a local wood where there was a nice hill to roll them down, and an egg hunt after. It's just a good way of remembering happy times from when we were little kids.

We went to Disney on Ice this year instead though. Grin

MangoJuggler · 05/04/2015 17:08

What is weird is you snarking over a kid doing stuff you deem non age appropriate.

Why don't you like him? Does he kick puppies or summat?

NickiFury · 05/04/2015 17:09

You sound mean spirited.

tametempo · 05/04/2015 17:10

I expect there are plenty of parents with 17 year old sons that are going through that difficult, selfish, grumpy, full on attitude phase who would love a 17 year old son who enjoys having a laugh and joining in with family fun. I know which I would prefer!

Foxyloxyatehennypenny · 05/04/2015 17:10

We did an Easter egg hunt today. The eldest was 81 and the youngest 16 months. We all had great fun!

LineRunner · 05/04/2015 17:11

What's the backstory?

Sparklingbrook · 05/04/2015 17:12

If it wasn't for FB you would know nothing of it.

FB makes you think about stuff that you don't need to.

DocHollywood · 05/04/2015 17:12

I do one for my dds, 23, 20 and 17 every year and would seem odd not to. They also put out a letter for Santa each year and get a filled stocking in return.

themadcaplass · 05/04/2015 17:14

The first time I did an easter egg hunt was when I was 20, my DP set one up for me as a surprise and I loved it! There's this thing called having fun OP, you should try it sometime!
