to think a 17 year old boy doing an Easter egg hunt is a little bit weird?

I know the boy, he does not have SN.

There are photos of him on FB doing an Easter egg hunt this morning. Seems a little weird to me ... and like he should have grown out of this by now...

I made my mum hide my eggs until I left home at 21. And then when I met DH I made him hide my eggs for a few more years. Which I got relatives to post over to Israel, where I lived at the time.

So no, nothing weird about it at all! Grin

One of the joys of having DCs of my own is being able to join in with really fun, childish stuff. I'm very impressed that a 17yo felt self-confident enough to muck in and enjoy himself without worrying about being cool and grown-up.

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 05/04/2015 17:16

Only reason my 17 yo didn't join in with his brothers this morning is because he's away kayaking for the weekend. I've saved him some for tomorrow, though.

Do you have a 17 yo, OP?

PunkrockerGirl · 05/04/2015 17:17

Who was he doing it with, OP? I mean if it was with friends or family then that would be fun. However, a 17 year old lad doing an Easter egg hunt on this own while his parents look fondly on is a bit odd, imo.

NellysKnickers · 05/04/2015 17:17

Good for him. Cmon where's the dripfeed. .....

wheresthelight · 05/04/2015 17:18

wtaf????

my fil is 83 and had great fun hunting for eggs in the garden this morning as did my dad who is 63 - not weird in the slightest. people of all ages are allowed to have fun and regress!

my dp still gets a stocking at Christmas Grin

weebarra · 05/04/2015 17:18

My lovely SIL did one for my PILs today. They're in their 60's. That ok OP?

ToadsJustFellFromTheSky · 05/04/2015 17:19

I would love to take part in a easter egg hunt and I'm 24 Blush.

glorymorning · 05/04/2015 17:21

Oh... you'll be one of those people who thinks anyone over a certain age shouldn't play computer games or have any fun at all

HAHAHAHAHAewoirhwp omg the conclusions people come to on here so ridiculous.

An Easter Egg hunt is the epitome of all that is fun!??!?! GrinGrin

Oh sweet Jesus get a grip darling

ptumbi · 05/04/2015 17:21

Oh heck - I did one for ds2 and ds3 (18 and 16) and they love it. they get a stocking at xmas, and i do the glass of sherry and a carrot too! Blush

I didn't realise they were too old.

shewept · 05/04/2015 17:21

I feel depressed as I haven't got to do one today! I would love to. Doing it next year, definitely

MargotLovedTom · 05/04/2015 17:24

I may be a horrible meanie but I find it a bit odd that adults in their early 20s put a letter out for Santa as DocHollywood. If I was that age and my boyfriend told me he does this then I'd be Confused.

Somehow the Easter egg hunt at 17 doesn't seem as .....odd (can't think of another mild word).

Live and let live though, I guess.

Moltenpink · 05/04/2015 17:24

I went to an adult party with an Easter egg hunt yesterday. It was very competitive.

SeekingJesus · 05/04/2015 17:25

and? he's having fun, what's the problem?

MargotLovedTom · 05/04/2015 17:25

...as DocHollywood said ....

BellasOrgasmicWalkingFoot · 05/04/2015 17:27

I have never done an easter egg hunt Easter Sad I would bloody love to do one now and I'm considerably older than 17. Guess I should grow up too! If he's having fun, what's the problem? I don't think it's odd either Confused

SwirlyThingAlert · 05/04/2015 17:31

YABU. Don't be such a miserable fecker.

Justusemyname · 05/04/2015 17:33

Yabu. 17 is still a child and you should never be too old to have fun.

YouTheCat · 05/04/2015 17:34

I shall amend then... you'll be one of those people who thinks people should only enjoy things which you think are appropriate.

And I don't need a grip, thanks darling - I'm not the one who started such a sad act of a thread. Smile

CrispyFern · 05/04/2015 17:35

You sound a bit of a miserable sort OP. Cheer up and leave the 17 year old alone, it's not nice to make fun.

TalkinPeace · 05/04/2015 17:36

Duh
Easter egg hunts are COOL
the adult ones with champagne glasses and camo eggs are the best

easter eggs are a pagan festival
get you kit off and enjoy

PowderMum · 05/04/2015 17:36

My DDs have never done an Easter Egg Hunt for their eggs, they are 15 and 18, maybe I should start the trend this year. Having said that I have in recent years done one in the my parents very large garden for fun, leading to small eggs for all the children (incl nieces and nephews), it is just that we have never had the Easter Bunny in this family we just exchange eggs. Not really sure why, I just haven't ever done Easter.

This year I haven't bought any eggs, I have small presents for my nieces and nephews and gave my DD a selection of sweet treats, my reasoning is that they both have their proms this year and are getting expensive dresses and have given up 'junk' so they look good, they also can see that Easter Eggs are poor value for money.

They do get stockings at Christmas, this is where are the silly novelty presents go, and they do one for DH and me too.

spanky2 · 05/04/2015 17:37

I'm 41 and I went on the swing and roundabout at the park today. Do you want to judge me? I think you are thinking about it too hard. I can't think of any reason why a 17 year old wouldn't join in Easter fun.

SauvignonBlanche · 05/04/2015 17:39

YABU
Thinking twice about it seems weird to me. Easter Hmm

MajesticWhine · 05/04/2015 17:39

My teenagers did one this morning with their 5yo sister. I've never seen them move so fast. Great fun. YABVU.
