Avocado is food of the Gods. Baking it is akin to baking lettuce, though....

My favourite (homemade) pizza is bacon, feta and then once the pizza is cooked put on slices of avocado. It's amazing!! Avo heated through by touching other warmer foods is okay, baked is just plain wrong!!

What about baked grapefruit?

DM* was most bemused to be served that as a starter at a dinner party. I don't even think it was the 70s - I think it was the 80s.

*and DM is no stranger to weird food. I still heave when remembering the sheep's hearts, "mashed" (with a fork so lumpy as buggery) potatoes and tinned marrowfat peas she used to feed us. No wonder I was so thin as a child.

I was once served, as the only one option in a remote conference venue, baked avocado stuffed with lychees in an orange and malibu sauce. Proof that chefs hate vegetarians and still the worst thing I have ever eaten.

You can put avocados in a bag with bananas to ripen them quicker.
