I'm no fan of Katie but if I'm honest I don't think she should be investigated by police.

What Katie did that was wrong was she blamed Abuse on the Pakistani perpetrators when actually it was a mix of problems that caused the systematic abuse of young girls.

No I haven't - I was using her words. She obviously said "pakistani friends" but I was interpreting her to mean abusers rather than friends.

I'm not really defending her as I can't stand her. Just saying that I don't think she's trying to "incite racial hatred". I think she's more trying to incite hatred towards the Rochdale labour council.

I don't think anyone is denying that race was ignored in this case and people were afraid to talk about it.

But - do you see the issue with using a label like that? Most Pakistani men are not abusers - as you said. To say Pakistani abusers - it applies in some people's mind an assumption that Pakistani men are abusers.

It applies to any other group - put the group "type" in front of a horrible word and it creates an association - just like Muslim terrorists etc.

If you don't belong to a group that gets labelled in such ways, you might not be able to appreciate what that means.

That said the Pakistani community in Rotherham does have a lot to answer for because I read an article about how child abuse was known by the community but not reported.

It's difficult to appreciate if you don't belong to a group that gets targetted and has negative labels attached. If you can't see that, you've probably got the privilege of being in a group that does not get labelled negatively.
