To wonder why there has STILL been no donation?

This has probably been done, I know there was a long running thread about this very subject but I can't find it?
So, several months on I see Dax's parents have still not made the promised donation to Ronald McDonald hospice. On March 2nd they updated the Facebook page to say they works be making the donation 'very soon', but still nothing.
Am I the only one thinking they have no intention of donating any money out of the tens of thousands donated to them? That in fact they intend to keep it all and deny the very charity that provided them with so much support in the early weeks of their Childs life?
In fact, I don't think im the only one judging by the comments on the Facebook page.
I think they're hoping it will blow over and if they keep quiet long enough people will forget.

There is also a gogetfunding account with almost 12k in.

shewept · 13/04/2015 18:32

So there were there 6 weeks. Not the 2 months originally estimated. The hospital fees were less than half as expected. And they still burnt through 17-30k.

The rmhny was free, not cheap. They confirmed that themselves on fb.

bloodyteenagers · 13/04/2015 18:39

That donation needs to be at least 17k.
They can keep the £650 from the locals, because the huns didn't care what that cash went on.
The amount from all the publicity will never be declared, well, not until the tax man takes a chunk.
That leaves the 17k that was raised that they didn't need...

Oooh, just thought of what the news article will be.. Couple get hit by tax.. There's someone on twitter who mentioned back in January, linking in the tax man, about the ramifications of the fund and using it to pay bills etc, and was it liable for tax.

Surely the tax man would take an interest even if the papers haven't.

JoanHickson · 13/04/2015 18:44

The tax man may be interested in the from the press/TV/cheesecake earned income. Not so sure gifts of clothes, toys and money is taxable.

Did anyone report them for selling home baked goods using chipped plates?

avoiretre · 13/04/2015 18:47

I can't believe anyone paid a penny to them. They didn't look or seem like people I would trust as far as I could throw them. People who gave money to these apparent scammers should think more carefully in future.

Aermingers · 13/04/2015 18:47

Does anybody know what the procedure is for taking money out of the U.S.? Will it be something you have to declare. I think private jets you don't have to go through customs do you? I know they've been doing interviews, if they took a few surely that would be breaking the terms of their visa and US labour laws too?

JoanHickson · 13/04/2015 18:50

They did do US TV interviews when they were on visitor visas.

DisappointedOne · 13/04/2015 18:51

That's not an issue.

JoanHickson · 13/04/2015 18:52

£5 for two slices.

To wonder why there has STILL been no donation?
mspoppins0 · 13/04/2015 19:03

There was never an issue with the Insurance, there's a CBS interview posted on the Dax page where a nurse says 'we were always going to accept what their insurers said. ..they were never going to be out of pocket'.
Richard knew that they had 'indefinite ' accommodation at the hospital before the fundraising page was even created, he posted it on fb.
This was a non-story so they had to expand the truth to pull on peoples heart strings & came up with the Insurance scam $$££ came rolling in.
when people started asking questions Richard played dumb. He posted that he would be angry if a 'sizeable donation ' was not made when they returned. I'm wondering why he's gone so quiet now?

Biggles398 · 13/04/2015 19:13

The only possible viable 'innocent' explanation why I can think they're not saying how much they've donated (and on facebook, they actually say they've already made the donation), is they have an exclusive press deal...

shewept · 13/04/2015 19:24

biggles I think that. But how are they going to get round abusing and blocking people who requested a refund?

londonrach · 13/04/2015 19:27

Money, money money....(shewept and biggles..getting cynical in old age here)

RoseWithAThorn · 13/04/2015 19:28

Exactly London

Twunk · 13/04/2015 19:33

I'm following all this with interest. It leaves a sour taste in the mouth. Hey, my son was born early in another country, and actually since then he developed cancer - I claim my £17k. We've had loads of expenses - and my husband needs more pants. You can never have enough pants.

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 13/04/2015 19:39

I'm just wildly guessing here but I think the upcoming press story might be that they need money for something e.g. a nurse for Dax, a wedding or maybe she's pregnant again. Something that'll make their supporters go "use the money for that" anyway.

Just wild speculation on my part though

shewept · 13/04/2015 19:41

I just can't think they would have any other reason to do another story. Unless its about them, rather than an interview.

I just don't understand why they would do more interviews unless they are giving the money. But even then, the way they have acted has been appalling. It would also answer the question about why none of their family have defended them.

I am imaging they will say Dax has health problems but surely they could have posted that to fb.

londonrach · 13/04/2015 19:43

Money, money, money....

shewept · 13/04/2015 19:44

Abbey possibly. But if dax needs care, he is in the UK now and under the care of the nhs. But why not just post that on fb?

If they keep the money for a wedding or another baby, I think there will be more outrage. Their supporters have been very quiet on fb lately. Is the tide turning or are they private messaging their supporters with details of what's happening.

mspoppins0 · 13/04/2015 19:50

£20k is about the average cost of a uk wedding...

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 13/04/2015 19:52

shewept I know they're in the UK and it's free but there are extras they could need. From being a preemie mum myself (and lucky my son is ok) I know a few others that haven't been so lucky. For example I've a friend who has hired a maternity nurse privately to help her with her son's equipment at home as he needs a kidney transplant but isn't big enough yet so is on machines and needs 24hr care. So the NHS provide a lot but they could claim they need to pay for specialist help at home especially if they go back to work.
I've not heard anything on how Dax is though, although im not on the facebook page. Hoping he's ok.

shewept · 13/04/2015 20:02

abbey yes I get that too. He may need extra care, even though they said they were really lucky as he had been given the all clear. What I am saying is there has to be a real problem if then need extra medical care, that needs paying for And if so, why not post a message on fb saying the Dax had had some unexpected problems and so they need the money for his care. They said they were donating the money approx 2 months ago.

And even if this is the reason, why have they been abusive to people wanting a refund? They have still run it in a dodgy manner.

If they are doing the interview just for money, there has to be a twist to make them look better. But I can not see how they can get out of it all.

And Katie and Lee have both already returned to work. Lee posted on facebook about them missing her and wanting her to hurry home from work.

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 13/04/2015 20:06

Ah ok, I'm not on Facebook to be up to date with what's happening so just guessing on my part. Glad he hasn't got any medical issues

Cantbelievethisishappening · 13/04/2015 20:11

Does he have two FB pages She?

2MuchLoveWillKillYou · 13/04/2015 20:26

I've seen that post she. It was on mothers day. She's working there.. always has..
