I like her on The Voice, don't watch anything else she presents. I know she'll have a script but she manages to deliver it in a much more unstilted way than Tess Daly does on Strictly. The fact that she seems to genuinely relate to & root for the contestants without being a simperer like Holly Willoughby was.

In an industry renowned for ageism, particularly where women are concerned, who can blame her for making hay while the sun shines?

ssd · 28/03/2015 21:47

Oops, sorry It doesn't scan too well, composed post except for last sentence earlier & didn't check what I'd written before writing last sentence & posting - and that particular train of thought has long since departed the station Blush

ssd · 28/03/2015 21:52

am I the only one who finds her over loud, then?

must be getting old....

OP posts:
PoisonPension · 28/03/2015 21:53

I think she is about 40.

BitOfFun · 28/03/2015 21:56

I think it's inevitable to sound loud when trying to speak over such anxiey crowd. I suppose the atmosphere ramps everything up too.

ssd · 28/03/2015 21:56

wow, I'd have said late 20's

ssd · 28/03/2015 21:58

hadnt thought of that Bitoffun, it must be very loud there with the audience cheering

BitOfFun · 28/03/2015 21:59

Eh? A noisy crowd.

She's just turned 39 ; I'm not sure that I've ever seen anyone wondering about how old Ant & Dec or Dermott O'leary are ...

MistressMerryWeather · 28/03/2015 22:02

She's 39! Shock

I'm 26 and that little fact makes me want to put a big brown bag over my big butter face.

ssd · 28/03/2015 22:05

whats wrong with wondering how old she is?

OP posts:
heycarrot · 28/03/2015 22:07

39 oh shit. Thought she was 25. Alex Jones and the one before her though are probably the worst on TV except for Davina and Amanda Holden. Am I making sense. Grin

PoisonPension · 28/03/2015 22:11

The Northern Irish one? I don't like her and to top it she and her Mum said the footballer wouldn't cheat on her as he had with the Mum of his kids. Hmm That was the final nail in her coffin.

heycarrot · 28/03/2015 22:14

Can anyone name a good light entertainment presenter? What about Eamon's wife - Ruth thingamijig.

Belindabelle · 28/03/2015 22:15

Yes 39. Has a 6 and 3 year old.

If she does not take over from Dermot on X Factor I will not be responsible for my actions.

PoisonPension · 28/03/2015 22:15

Ruth either talks about Eamon or fights with him.

I liked Fern Briton.

oneowlgirl · 28/03/2015 22:19

I don't like the Voice but love Emma Willis - she's ace & seems so natural & down to earth. [I do also love Davina & Holly too!]

[And shock horror for Peas, I choose to work full time as we could easily afford our lifestyle on my DHs wage!]

member · 28/03/2015 22:21

Nothing ssd.

Chippednailvarnish · 28/03/2015 22:22

One you choose to work fulltime!?!? What the actual fuck. Your DH lets you out of the house unaccompanied.

Next thing you'll be saying that you have your own bank account and that you can drive.

Sallystyle · 28/03/2015 22:23

I like her. I love Rita Ora too.

I find all presenters annoying to be honest, but she is no more annoying than any of the others.

Springtulip · 28/03/2015 22:24

Isn't it something us women have always done, been interested in the age of other females, especially female celebs. Well I am anyway and no, not really interested in the male celeb ages.

Ginmartini · 28/03/2015 22:26

I do think it's depressing that women who are confident are branded 'over confident' (or 'irritating' or 'smug'- for that alone).

It's taken me many decades to be confident and at the age of 49 I'd like to put a somewhat aggressive two fingers up to anyone who might say my confidence was something to be ashamed of.
