I've spent today getting quotes for my family of 5 to spend two weeks in Spain/Italy/Greece/Turkey. I'm astounded by how much it costs to spend a fortnight away. Mark Warner quoted me over £10k for s fortnight in their cheapest resort!!!

So where are you going and how much are you paying for flights plus accommodation?

£900 for flights to Turkey for DH, DD and myself. My Dad has apartment there so lucky enough to take advantage of that.

Last year £1350 SC apartment 3* in Greece. £1500 spends. That was supposedly with free child place ??

Bowlersarm · 17/03/2015 22:52

California road trip for 2 1/2 weeks, 2 adults, 2 teens, about £12,000. Very excited, and we don't always spend so much.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 17/03/2015 22:53

£700 for flights for the three of us to Barcelona at the end of July. Apartment and car hire free for 16 days. House swapping bloody rules!

MrsGSR · 17/03/2015 22:53

£1600 for a week in Menorca, 4 adults and two under 2s. A villa with a private pool, self catering but includes flights and transfers.

Also doing a long weekend in Germany for a friend's event (don't want to be too specific!) which is costing about £500 just for flights and accommodation, as we didn't book that far in advance.

Lovelydiscusfish · 17/03/2015 22:54

We've spent about £700 on a cottage in the Lakes for the three of us this Easter. It's a big cottage, so our best friends know they are welcome to join us if they can.
We'll do similar in summer (maybe in France). And I always thought we spent a lot on holidays (we are lucky enough to earn well), before reading this thread...

WildFlowersAttractBees · 17/03/2015 22:54

May. Long weekend in Barcelona for DH and I £790. B&B, flights (no transfers).

August. Long weekend in London with DH and 3DC's. £1800. Train and apartment.

October. 10 days in Paris with DH and 3DC's. £3140. Flights and apartment.

Treaclepot · 17/03/2015 22:56

I feel poor after reading this.

Sparks1007 · 17/03/2015 22:57

Print. I think friends of mine get fantastic deals on villas in Greece every summer through airbnb. Last year they had their own swimming pool and a cliff top view for an absolute bargain.

chickydoo · 17/03/2015 23:01

South of France ( near Antibes) large 4 bed villa, pool & views

Dowser · 17/03/2015 23:02

£4800 or was it £4,400 for ten family members to have a week half board in Tenerife. We've probably paid through the nose but it's for a wedding so we had to stump up.

jubileepeanuts · 17/03/2015 23:03

We are going to Croatia and Spain for 16 days everything booked separately using airbnb and other apartments approx £2,000

defineme · 17/03/2015 23:09

makemineapinot could you be really specific about dates, airports, flights, accommodation etc as we had the best holiday in Greece last summer holidays..2 weeks for 5 of us cost 3200 sc and I would love to do it for a third of that! When did you buy your flights?

MagicMojito · 17/03/2015 23:11

Great Yarmouth £9.50 sun holidays GrinGrinGrin

... I'll get my coat.

GallicGarlic · 17/03/2015 23:13

£0,000.00 Grin Once again, I shall be spending my summer hols at a bijou apartment in a charming, historic, country town. Where I live.

When I can afford holidays, I'm one of those dreadfully annoying bargain-hunters. I do masses of homework, bully agents and conduct tense face-offs over price. It works - but I do understand why people prefer to pay more and have everything packaged up well in advance :)

For family holidays when I was a child, we went camping around Europe. I know it's not exactly cheap or stress-free, but it is brilliant for kids and many campsites have marvellous facilities. Mind you, I won't stay anywhere without a bathroom these days, so I'm advocating a holiday I'd refuse!

MrsBojingles · 17/03/2015 23:15

£0. No budget for it this year :(

Trips to the beach and walks in the mountains for us.

UnikittyInHerBusinessSuit · 17/03/2015 23:18

Belated thanks primafacie. Unfortunately I was fatally disillusioned about the South of France when I had to go to a work conference in Cannes, years and years ago. I flew off with a smile on my lips dreaming of sophisticated Grace Kelly style glamour, and it turned out to be a real dump; bitterly disappointing. Gras looked nice though, so maybe I shouldn't write off the entire region.

PeachyParisian · 17/03/2015 23:21

Just shy of 1k for 7 nights in Turkey (all inclusive Blush). Just DH and I!

DakotaFanny · 17/03/2015 23:24

£3k AI (inc flights) Majorca for 2 weeks for 4. Can't bloody wait!!

revealall · 17/03/2015 23:28

I'm amazed so many have booked proper holiday! Me and DS do something last minute depending on where we have been invited, what's cheap, what's on.

So far he's been invited on two holidays with friends, one here and one abroad. I've been invited on two - one exotic one, one in Europe (with or without DS) I've booked a festival for a weekend and a holiday to see friends at the other end of the UK.

Dowser · 17/03/2015 23:33

We have two foreign holidays a year and then several trips to Wales and Dorset seeing family and friends.

Plus we have a caravan so we are away qute a bit at that.

If you Totted it all up it usually works out about 17 weeks altogether.

Whiteandbrownrabbit · 17/03/2015 23:42

less than 1k wk in majorca

FoodieToo · 18/03/2015 00:06

Mamazilla do you really spend 47 k on holidays???
I thought we were bad...jealous lol!!!

DaisyRaine90 · 18/03/2015 00:19

We might get on a plane this year if we're luck. ??????

Verbena37 · 18/03/2015 00:23

We were going to stay in a French villa with a pool but are now staying in the UK. However, the price we would have paid was roughly 1k per week in July/August, plus autoroute tolls, and euro tunnel/fuel and food etc. so I guess about 3-4 total.

Mamazilla · 18/03/2015 00:24

Yup. Plus I missed out this weekend's 4 night ski trip (£2k) plus 2 nights at Disneyland Paris next month.

First time I've been called a liar on MN. FWIW the breakdown for the big trip is:

4 x business class flights to Buenos Aires = £12k
3 nights in a suite plus adjoining room at the Four Seasons in BA = £3k
14 nights in two bungalows at the Four Seasons Carmelo, Uruguay = £17k
Plus the cost of chartering a small plane to transfer from BA to Carmelo.
