I go to Facebook today and someone has shared this:

"My promise to my kids~I am not your friend..I am your mother. I will stalk you, flip out on you, lecture you, drive you insane, be your worst nightmare and hunt you down like a bloodhound when needed because I LOVE YOU!! When you understand that, I will know you are a responsible adult. You will NEVER find someone who loves, cares and worries about you more than I do!"

Am I the only one who sees this sort of thing and thinks "well that's one way to ensure your kids move out and never visit you again"?

Then there's the nauseating ones about mother's of boys protecting their princes and no other woman's love ever being able to compare etc etc. I start to wonder if anyone thinks for themselves any more!

And it isn't just parenting memes, it's the "if you can't handle me at my worst, you don't deserve me at my best" ones too - why???

YANBU.

It's wanky.

ShanVanVocht · 16/03/2015 09:53

It's because some people can't conjure up an original thought so rely on those of others, often in FB picture form.
Cull.

AvonCallingBarksdale · 16/03/2015 09:54

YANBU. That is all!

meglet · 16/03/2015 09:55

yanbu.

SunnyBaudelaire · 16/03/2015 09:56

most adult people who share facebook memes are fuckwits.
There is one woman who is always posting this one about how she is 'old school' and believes in 'showing respect'. Then the next one she posts is a 'save Clarkson' thing.
Fucking idiot.

m0therofdragons · 16/03/2015 09:57

Post this if you love your mum. .. er no that's fine. I do love my mum, maybe I'll phone her!

molyholy · 16/03/2015 09:57

YANBU! Dicks

NancyRaygun · 16/03/2015 09:58

I so agree OP. I have a friend who seems to have lost the ability to communicate in any other way. Today was:

REMINDER: NOT EVERYONE WAS BROUGHT UP LIKE YOU
SOME PEOPLE HAVE NO PROBLEM FUCKING YOU OVER
AFTER YOU HAVE BEEN NICE OR HELPED THEM
SLAP THESE PEOPLE

they are nearly always attributed to some author. Yuck. IMO. Just yuck.

DragonsDontFly · 16/03/2015 09:59

YADBNU! They're awful!

Swingball · 16/03/2015 09:59

Makes me cringe. Yanbu

Pantone363 · 16/03/2015 10:00

The worst one is that "rules for dating my daughter". Creepy, weird and an instant delete.

Swingball · 16/03/2015 10:00

They're often misanthropic

Here it is.

My dad posted it on his FB. I'm a 30 year old woman and he's never shown the slightest iota of a parenting skill in his life.

And let's not start on the "what colour is your bra" or "where do you keep your handbag", teehee it's a secret don't tell the boys etc cancer memes which apparently "raise awareness". Fuck off!

lovesmycake · 16/03/2015 10:05

YANBU - I also hate judging other peoples parenting in the form of helpful articles. eg - 15 ways breastfeeding makes your child a wimp, 15 ways formula feeding makes pyschopaths.

How about - 15 ways we just mind our own business and let people make their own choices.

mollyonthemove · 16/03/2015 10:05

I have an fb friend who is always always going on about dreadful her life is - she has almost every ailment in the world and life is totally against her (allegedly) but still puts up things like 'I am that girl who cries quietly inside whilst being brave and silent.' I want to put No you fucking don't - you whinge all bloody day long - arghhhh.

I know I should remove her but it's sadly entertaining Blush

JimmyCorkhill · 16/03/2015 10:08

This is my favourite!

Don't forget the 'private' posts that include you as one of her inspirational women, best friends, hero, etc. you're then expected to post this back to her to show that you care about her too Envy boak Then pass it on to another 12 inspirational bla bla bla. Just piss of as it comes across as self serving, false and needy. I especially don't need this shit when the person knows I'm going through the worst time of my life right now. Just fuck of with your, copy and past, shit.

Staywithme · 16/03/2015 10:10

Grin that made me chuckle.

irretating · 16/03/2015 10:10

They're not something I would choose to post but I don't think they're the worst things to happen on facebook.

People who re-post Britain First things though Angry

Cariad007 · 16/03/2015 10:12

Here's one I saw earlier. From a FB page called MOB Society which teaches mothers "how to parent boys from God's playbook". Anyone who disagreed with it got told they were an disgrace and not fit to be a mother. How very Christian!

My mother, who irritates the bejesus out of me most of the time, actually sent me (via email) the meme in the OP. I was not amused.
