Behindthepaintedgarden · 10/03/2015 12:22

Probably am being unreasonable, but for some reason this expression just makes me absolutely cringe. I hate it with a passion and want to stab anyone who uses it.

AIBU and should I seek therapy?

YANBU! It's awful.

Ohbollocksandballs · 10/03/2015 12:25

YANBU and it is even worse when someone used it to describe themselves.

'Im a full time yummy mummy' stop that.

YouBetterWerk · 10/03/2015 12:26
Grin Perhaps stabbing is slightly excessive, but I totally loathe it as well. It's the suggestion that normally as a 'regular' mummy you are automatically not fuckable, but hey it's ok, because you're a yummy mummy so aren't you a rare treat you lucky thing. YANBU.
MamaLazarou · 10/03/2015 12:27

My problem with it is that it implies that mummies are by default frumpy and unattractive.

FernGullysWoollyPully · 10/03/2015 12:27

Ugh no yanbu. Another I hate...Milf!

MamaLazarou · 10/03/2015 12:28

(or, what YouBetterWerk just said ^ )

QueQuesto · 10/03/2015 12:28

YANBU, I used to know someone who wore one of these. I cringed for her, it is so tacky IMHO.

MamaLazarou · 10/03/2015 12:30

The absolute zenith of yummy mummy styling:

ThatCuckingFat · 10/03/2015 12:33

YANBU I hate it too.
I hate the word 'yummy' in general.
I have a friend who's taken to using words like 'delicious' and 'scrumptious' to describe things that aren't food. For example, "the colour of that dress is delicious"
Makes me cringe inside.

Aridane · 10/03/2015 12:34

I 'prefer' it to MILF...

BabyOnBoob · 10/03/2015 12:36

I fucking hate it as well. I'm far from yummy, scruffy mummy is more apt. I don't get a frigging minute to sort myself out.

FirstWeTakeManhattan · 10/03/2015 12:39

It's awful. Right up there with nom lol and from scratch

YANBU

MamaLazarou · 10/03/2015 12:40

What's wrong with 'from scratch'?

RowRowRowCrocodileScream · 10/03/2015 12:43

What YouBetterWerk said! Grin

I have hated the phrase "Yummy Mummy" since I first heard it years ago and it makes me cringe.

RowRowRowCrocodileScream · 10/03/2015 12:45

But yes, what is wrong with 'from scratch'?

squoosh · 10/03/2015 12:46

It's a load of twee bollocks. And another layer of pressure, be a great mother and please be sexy with it.

You never hear about Delicious Daddys.

fluffygreentail · 10/03/2015 12:47

I dont know anyone who uses that term in real life athough i know its been around a while. Do they refer to it themselves, as in "us yummy mummies need to go for a coffee" or if not, how is it dropped in to conversations etc?

Behindthepaintedgarden · 10/03/2015 12:49

A colleague with a young child wore a really nice dress into work today and another colleague said 'ooh you are a scrummy, yummy mummy'. I am still breathing deeply and counting to ten.

Arsenic · 10/03/2015 12:49

YANBU. And 'Milf'.

But 'from scratch' makes sense to me Confused

BoozeyTuesday · 10/03/2015 12:50

It makes my toes curl. I also hate MILF.

Behindthepaintedgarden · 10/03/2015 12:50

Fluffy I hear people saying things like 'oh all the yummy mummies' go to that café. Or 'some of the yummy mummies at the schoolgate....'

OP posts:
froomeonthebroom · 10/03/2015 12:52

I was in FB group of local mums which one of the members wanted to rename 'yummy mummys and domestic goddesses'. I left. Grin

WhatWouldFlopDo · 10/03/2015 12:52

I'm mostly a slummy mummy. Some women I know have a yummy mummy club and they all go out together "yummy mummies are out on the town tonight".

squoosh · 10/03/2015 12:53

I know someone who refers to herself as a Yummy Mummy. She also has a sign in her kitchen that says 'Mummies are Earth Angels'.

It's enough to make you spontaneously vomit.

Nice woman otherwise.

FirstWeTakeManhattan · 10/03/2015 12:56

From scratch I just find it mimsy and irritating but accept it's widely approved of Grin
