To be feel that some of the public have been mislead and a charity have lost out?

I just had a look at Dax's tale of New York on facebook. I now see the £13k they promised of the publics money to Ronald Mcdonald House isn't going there now. They raised the money by advising the public, funds were to cover medical bills, then they were going to give to the charity.

Chaos that is STUNNING news. I am almost comatose with shock...

Memyselfandbri · 05/03/2015 15:39

Did anyone see the couple on This Morning? I thought the dad was a bit scary, very uncomfortable to watch.

Cariad007 · 05/03/2015 15:51

He struck me as one of the most irritating people to ever appear on ITV. And that says a lot when you consider the competition he's got!

BeccaMumsnet · 05/03/2015 17:07

Hi everyone.

We've had a few reports about this thread and we can see that it's become a bit heated.

Whilst we do understand that you will all have your own opinions on this situation, could we please ask you to bear in mind that Mumsnet is a site for parental support and premature birth is a tremendously tough thing for a couple to go through.

Could you all try and keep your posts civil and make sure to stick to our Talk Guidelines.

If there wasn't a baby involved they'd probably be straight in prison and not passing go...

Fraudsters. Luckily it's easy to google people like this so they'll be marked by it forever.

It made me feel so uncomfortable! .... and I'm not sure why because it should be a feel good story.

Lee certainly loves the sound of his own voice.

ifdaryldiesweriot · 05/03/2015 17:50

Some woman on their FB page commented that - they should keep the money in the trust fund for the baby so he can go back to New York or pay for university.

I commented that I felt the money would be better spent helping people going through the same traumatic ordeal of having a premature baby and I was pretty much abused and then blocked.

Please someone confirm that I was making sense?

You were, but other prem babies and their families don't matter so much apparently. The charity could have done so much with that money.

Very true, as long as this baby has a free holiday to New York in the future thats all that matters.

JoanHicksonMIfive · 05/03/2015 17:59

Can you imagine the hard time they will get at the school gates? Especially from those who have been unable to use RMH when their dc is ill. The resentment will be directed towards Dax Johnson and his family.

TheCuttingEdge · 05/03/2015 18:36

I personally think some people are greedy and will take any chance to make money off the backs of other people.

We have children, in this country, going to school hungry, but hey, as long as this couple get a pram and a £2k Shock breast pump off other people.

Does the comment by the Mumsnet moderator mean that Mumsnet condone fundraising under false pretences? Not a criticism, just genuinely intrigued.
As well as following Dax's story, I was also following the story of micro premie Ethan. This page is in contrast to the shameful way the Dax page is run. For starters, it's a closed group. It was set up to keep their friends and family updated as to Ethan's progress. Pru and Derek, the parents, were visiting family over Xmas and she went into early labour. They to were far from home, but were fortunate to be visiting family. The daily updates were moving and heartfelt, and the couple regularly thanked everyone for their support. On the day they had Ethan's naming ceremony, the couple asked everyone to please do a random act of kindness in Ethan's name. Sadly Ethan passed away shortly thereafter, but the random acts of kindness in Ethan's name continue. Such a beautiful legacy they have of their little boy

I think they just live in fear that they will be sued. Probably why the other thread on this got pulled.

catsandstuff · 05/03/2015 20:15

the mumsnet comment is a bit Hmm

YouKilledLucyBeale · 05/03/2015 20:18

The guy running the page suspected by some to have been posting on here and reporting posts so they are deleted like he does on the page, hasn't been through a preterm birth.

ifdaryldiesweriot · 05/03/2015 20:27

The page makes no sense because a majority of the comments get deleted.

Like now, who the fuck is PC Wise?

DancingDays · 05/03/2015 20:30

I saw a comment from person A, a reply obviously deleted by someone else then person A replying telling the deleted person to go away. It now reads as Person A telling person A to go away.

YouKilledLucyBeale · 05/03/2015 20:31

Still no money handed over to the charity as promised.

ScamBuster1 · 05/03/2015 21:51

I started taking screen shots of the Dax page when the racist and disablement comments started. For those that missed the disablement comment, it was made by the Dax page admin/fundraiser. I tweeted a copy to @Thismorning. So if anyone wants a copy, check out my Twitter account

YouKilledLucyBeale · 05/03/2015 21:56

Ronald McDonald House were Mumsnet Charity campaign of the Month in January and were featured on Mummy blogger community too.

TerraNovice · 05/03/2015 22:40

What is your Twitter handle Scambuster?

TerraNovice · 05/03/2015 22:44

Ignore my last post, found you!

Bellerina2 · 05/03/2015 22:50

Perhaps Jellybee ought to read this article, which says their bills are now being covered news.sky.com/story/1401540/couples-relief-as-130k-early-birth-bill-wiped

So where is the money going? The article says for their rent but surely rent is something they'd have had to pay anyway?

I feel for little Dax, really I do. His parents are just using him as a meal ticket and it's disgusting.
